Youngjae was not about to miss this opportunity of getting into a major trauma case, not when he was currently assigned to the ER and Junhong shouldn't even be on this floor of the hospital but there he was, running in front of him to get the place of the resident they always left open.

It's not like Junhong and Youngjae didn't like each other, they were friends, actually. But this was such a big chance to get to assist during a major surgery, Youngjae would not let this slip through his hands.

"Junhong, stop running so fast." Youngjae gasped, already tired of chasing after his lanky friend.

"You wish, you just want to get into this surgery yourself." Junhong's laugh echoed through the hallway and a few nurses turned their heads scandalously, frowning at the two young men running to the ER. Neither of them cared that much though, it wasn't explicitly prohibited to run to the ER and nobody was stopping them, so for this matter it was the faster one of the two would win. And Youngjae really wanted to win.

As they rounded the corner and were now only a hallway away from the ER, Youngjae's eyes widened and for a split second, horror washed over Youngjae's face when they encountered Doctor Bang who turned around as he heard Junhong pass by him. Confusion was clearly shown on his face and he flinched when Youngjae nearly slipped before catching himself in the last second.

 "Hey, woah woah woah, slow down."

Junhong only turned around for a second, not noticing as Youngjae ran past him, shouting a quick "They need us in trauma." to Doctor Bang before following up after Youngjae.

Doctor Bang, or Yongguk as pretty much everyone who knew him called him, checked his phone because he was pretty sure that once the two residents were fighting over a spot in trauma it had to be something major. Yongguk sighed but followed after them anyway since he was already here and he didn't necessarily have to go have his lunch break now.

"First!" Both residents shouted once they nearly toppled over each other as they reached the ER, grabbing their gowns out of the shelves without missing the glare they received from Doctor Kim who was already tying the yellow gown behind his back.

"Wrong. I was first." The older doctor frowned, judgmentally eyeing the young men in front of him. Youngjae looked at him and quickly threw a look at Junhong, rational thinking thrown out the window as all he could think about was getting that spot.

"Second." Youngjae said, missing how Doctor Kim rolled his eyes but the small smile didn't go unnoticed by Youngjae. Youngjae knew that Doctor Kim had a soft spot for him, the man was usually pretty nice although strict but you had to be once you are chief doctor of a specialty and Doctor Kim had been the head of general surgery for years now, if Youngjae heard correctly.

"That doesn't matter, one of you has to get this man with a stomach ache, apparent heart attack after what his wife said, checked in, now."

"But there's a trauma case." Junhong whined, unknowingly offering himself to the already annoyed Doctor Kim who threw him a harsh look, the wrinkles between his brows deepening.

"Junhong, now!"

A groan left Junhong's throat and with a quick look at Youngjae who stuck his tongue out to him, he left dejectedly to help the elderly man standing by the reception desk with his wife. Even if Youngjae loved Junhong dearly and he was his best friend, there were always small rivalries going on between them which Junhong mostly won because he was more outgoing and open which made him more approachable, so Youngjae couldn't help but smile a little bit before his attention got drawn to Yongguk who was walking towards them and throwing Junhong and his new patient a strange look.

"That is not our trauma."

It wasn't much of a question, it was obvious that the loudly groaning elderly man was not their trauma case.

"Just some stomach pain," Doctor Kim said, still looking at the man who was now toppling over, arms clutched around his own waist, his cries agonizing, before continuing, "uhm, you got this Bang?" Yongguk nodded and Doctor Kim left to help Junhong with probably something more than just a stomach ache.

Youngjae couldn't really care that much though, a triumphant smile spread upon his lips before he walked into the ER. "First." And Yongguk only shook his head, following after Youngjae to tap him by the shoulder, initiating him to hurry a little as the both jogged outside to where the ambulance was arriving.

The doors sprung open and the sight really wasn't pretty. A woman was lying on the stretcher, bruises all over her face and upper body but the worst were her legs, the right one was only pressed next to the peddle of the completely demolished bike, her left limb was a different story altogether. It was nearly wholly ripped open by the thigh, where it was crushed in between various parts of the bike that shouldn't even be close to each other.

One of the paramedics listed the woman's vitals, carefully guiding the stretcher out of the ambulance and Youngjae couldn't help but gasp at the sight of the woman's body entangled into her bike.

"... also an open femur fracture adding a pretty serious thigh bleed so we wanted to make sure to get her into a controlled environment."

"Got it, you said we'll need someone to check on her head?" Yongguk asked the paramedic as he helped his colleagues place the stretcher on the ground.
