Step 3

One of the Girls [Oneshot]

„It's, - I don't - … Sungmin, what is that question?“, you answer.

He doesn't seem to give in. „A friend? An older brother? An oppa? Tell me“, he insists and you feel like his face is getting closer to yours every second. You hold your breath and avert your eyes, slightly turning your head since it's the only thing you're free to do in this position. You can't handle him being so close. The way he smells, the way his lips look from close up, the way is fingers are wrapped around your skin... it's too much to happen this sudden. As much as you normally long for this whenever you're around him, you just want it to stop right now so you're able to breathe again. Thereforce you decide to answer so he would let go. You stop mistreating your lower lip and hurry to say: „One of the -“

„Girls?!“, he interrupts, not letting you finish just like before. But he knew what you were going to say. Even though his voice gives away that your answer made him upset, you nod in the affirmative hoping to set an end to this unwanted conversation, but instead you get pinned against the wall right behind you. Sungmin is closer now, closer than before and closer than ever. Your heart pounds against your chest so hard it's almost hurting you. You don't know why you said that because right now, he clearly stepped out of the girls' corner. You have no choice but to look at him and see every possible feeling flash in his eyes. Then he lets go of your wrist and steps back, causing you to

lose your footing and sink to the floor. You're just as upset as he is.

Your lashes seem to shake right before your eyes, but you can still see Sungmin standing there and looking out of the window. However the way he looks makes you know that he isn't actually interested in what's going on outside. Everything is still for a moment, then he turns to you and looks to you from above. You're close to burying your face in your hands because he seems to have lost all of his firmness. Suddenly you're feeling like you just destroyed your friendship. At least that's what things look like to you that moment.

„Sorry, ____“, Sungmin says quietly, „it's just that I hate all this.“ You feel a sudden urge to get up to your feet and hug him to make up for everything you said that made him talk like this, but you end up just sitting there, trying to calm down so you don't feel like smashing your head against the wall for being so – stupid. You don't even know what's going on right now, but you feel like it's your fault. You don't know what exactly it is that he hates and you have doubt about wanting to know it. He doesn't care about that

He crosses his arms and leans against the table backwards, so it looks like he's almost sitting on it. You can't even focus enough to care if he's triturating your equipment or not.All you can see is him and how the light flatters his body. „Before you arrived here, the others wanted to know why I wasn't going to do my make-up myself. I said it's because I liked how you do it.“ You blink and heave a disbelieving moan remembering what happened just a few minutes ago. „It's true!“, he reassures you in an almost annoyed voice but snaps out of it just a second later, „there is no one like you. And that doesn't only count for doing make-up.“ You feel your cheeks grow hot and look at your shaking knees, not able to say anything. It's the first time he says something like that straight to your face meaning it. Your heart skips a beat.

„The guys know that this is what I think. Everytime I talk about you I end up making it obvious. So why is it that the only person who doesn't notice is -“ He doesn't have to point his finger to make clear that 'the only person' is you – which makes you angry. Did he just blame you for not knowing what he thinks about you?
