The creaking of the ship and the small waves hitting the hull of the ship were the only noise to be heard in the darkness. Most of the crew were resting, aside from Junmyeon who was manning the helm silently. Baekhyun was on deck, leaning against the railing as he gazed out over the water, fixated on a single direction.

He hadn’t been this close to home in six years, unable to do anything towards attaining the revenge that he so desperately sought against the man that had destroyed his entire family. The resentment ran deep, the burning hatred that he felt increasing each day that he was stuck out at sea.

“Baekhyun?”

He turned his head slightly, his brown hair blowing messily with the breeze. Simply turning back to the ocean, he let the hatred fill him as his friend leaned against the railing beside him, arms crossed.

“What, Chanyeol?” He asked quietly, refusing to look at the tall man beside him who was watching him intently, concern in his eyes that he couldn’t hide.

“Junmyeon is getting tired,” Chanyeol told him simply. He could be smart, sometimes, and he wasn’t sure whether to broach the subject on what was bothering his captain.  

“Then I’ll take over,” Baekhyun said with a quiet exhale, pushing himself away from the railing to walk away, though he was stopped by his friends words.

“It won’t be long now.”

Baekhyun glanced over his shoulder with a small, wry smile before continuing on toward the helm. He knew that Chanyeol was trying to comfort him and in a way he was right, yet it was still much too far away for his liking. Since he’d been cursed six years ago, invisible shackles preventing him from stepping a single foot on land, he’d had no way to attain the revenge that he’d always desired.

It was a stupid curse, yet an effective one. Unable to leave the sea until the restraints briefly lifted, giving him a short amount of time to find someone that would love him enough to die for him. It had allowed all of his frustrations and feelings to simmer, his hatred to grow until the only thing that he cared about was being able to finally get his revenge.

He’d been horrified, at first, that someone would have to die for him. Yet, as time went on and he’d begun to realize that the curse rendered him unable to die, he’d began to grow immune to the feelings that made him human.

A small smirk pulled at his lips as he glanced back in the direction of what was once his home, knowing that now the restraints had lifted, he would eventually be back to get that which he desired the most.

No matter the cost.

Ahh, a new story that has been in the works! The updates may be a little sporadic, until Trauma is complete and then this story will be my main focus! It's my first time attempting a fantasy style fic, so please bear with me while I find my footing! I'm very excited for this and I hope that you will enjoy it!
