Let's Do It

These Sparks Are Going To Start Fires

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kikwang sighed as he leaned back in his chair and glanced at the clock. He had just gotten finished working a double shift with Yoseob. However, he was glad that the busy work week was coming to an end and as the boss, he could finally take a break for a few days. He thought about what he could do on his days off. The thought of spending his day quietly with his wife brought a huge smile to Kikwang’s face.
“What are you smiling about, hyung?”
Kikwang looked over to the doorway and found Yoseob standing there.
“Thinking about my wife and how we might enjoy my vacation” replied Kikwang.
Yoseob raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms across his chest.
“What vacation?” he asked.
“The vacation that I just gave myself. I’ve been working nonstop for a month. I need a break. I’m leaving Doojoon-ah in charge for a few days.”
“REALLY!? Why do I have to work and you get time off?! What makes you so special?”
Kikwang smirked at his friend.
“I’m the boss” he simply replied.
“Which is why you should stay here and work.” reasoned Yoseob.
“True… but I have been neglecting my wife and I think I should make it up to her by spending some free days with her.”
Yoseob shook his head and smiled.
“Hyosung-noona is such a good luck charm for you because now you can skip out on work. So what are you going to do for your vacation time?” he asked.
Kikwang gave Yoseob a very distinct look, causing Yoseob to blush.
“YAH!! Is that all you want to do?!”
Kikwang laughed and nodded his head.
“I feel sorry for your wife because she has you as her husband. You don’t know how to even be romantic.”
Kikwang slightly glared at Yoseob.
“Yah! I can be romantic! I’m always romantic. Besides, I want to do that with her for a good reason.”
Yoseob furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
Kikwang sighed and stood from his chair.
“I want a kid.”
Yoseob’s eyes almost fell out.
“MWUH!? You just got married!! Not to mention you already have Bora!! What if Hyosung-ah doesn’t want a baby right now!?”
It was Kikwang’s turn to furrow his eyebrows in confusion.
“Why wouldn’t she want a baby right now?”
“Idiot! Have you even asked her?”
“I have to ask her?!” Kikwang asked
Yoseob just sighed and threw his arms up in defeat.
“When she divorces you, I’ll let you stay with me at my place” was all he said before he walked out of Kikwang’s office.
Kikwang smirked and decided to go after him.
“Yah! I was just kidding! I need your help so come back here.”
Yoseob returned to Kikwang’s office, shutting the door behind him.
“What do you need help in?” Yoseob asked.
“I want to ask her to have a baby. I just need to ask at the right moment.”
Yoseob looked at Kikwang with a pitiful look.
“You are too forward for your own good. Can’t you just enjoy your marriage for a while?”
“Yah! Why are you so discouraging?!”
“Because you’re idiot sometimes!!” Yoseob said as he laughed.
Kikwang rolled his eyes.
“I’m an idiot because of her. She doesn’t know how to stay out of my thoughts all day.”
Yoseob smirked and quickly grabbed a notepad and a pen and handed it over to Kikwang.
“That was a great line, write it down quickly!! Write down everything I say, you’ve come to the right person, hyung. I am so romantic.”
“Yah…the things you are going to tell me…you aren’t using them on my sister right?”
Yoseob blushed.
“Of course not hyung!!” he replied
Kikwang grinned and started writing.
Yoseob laughed evilly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hyosung jumped in surprise as she found Kikwang standing in front of the counter.

“Surprise” he said and smiled.

She smiled back.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

Kikwang just smiled and took a small cookie from the basket on the counter.

“Don’t eat that. Eat a real meal” she scolded.

Kikwang gobbled down the rest of the cookie before Hyosung could take it away. She rolled her eyes and made her way around the counter and hugged Kikwang. this was the first time in a few days that she had seen him awake.

“I came to pick you up” he said with a little smile.

“Oh?” she asked in suspicion.

She was only working a few hours today and so she wondered what Kikwang was up to. It wasn’t like him to skip a day of work.

Kikwang turned to her held out his hand. Hyosung slipped her hand into his and the two happily walked down the street. Hyosung stopped walking and looked at him curiously.

“Where is your car?” she asked.

“At home. I got off of work early this morning. In fact, I have a small vacation now.”

Hyosung’s face brightened at that and smiled widely.

“Really?! Waaah! That’s great!”

Kikwang grinned.

“Why are you so excited?” he asked.

“I’ve been worried about you. You have been working overtime and…”

Kikwang leaned in closer, “And?”

She quickly kissed his cheek.

“I missed you” she said and smiled.

Kikwang proudly smiled has he led Hyosung to her car.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kikwang opened the door and they both walked in, Bora in his arms. Hyosung immediately made her way towards the kitchen.
“Have you eaten already? What do you want to eat? I made some kimchi yesterday.”
She continued to ramble, not paying attention to Kikwang’s unresponsiveness. When Hyosung finally did notice that he wasn’t talking, she turned around, expecting him to be there. Hyosung frowned when he wasn’t there and she went to go find him. She found him standing in front of Bora’s bedroom. She came up to him and looked inside but saw nothing that could especially catch his attention. Bora was palying with her toys and petting Jin-Jin. Hyosung tugged his shirt and he finally noticed her.
“What are you doing?” Hyosung asked softly.
Kikwang brought Hyosung into the room and proceeded to ask her questions.
“Do you think we can fit another bed in here?”
“Huh? What for?” she asked.
Bora wasn't big enough for a regular bed yet. Kikwang quickly waved away her question.
“Do you want to travel?” he asked.
She was confused but she shook her head.
“Not really.”
“Do you want to go to school?”
“I already did.”
“Do you want to do anything else in life?”
Hyosung crossed her arms.
“Why are you asking all these questions all of a sudden?” she asked, slightly cautious.
Kikwang stepped closer to Hyosung and grabbed her arms, running his hands up until they rested on her shoulders. He took a deep breath and looked into her eyes.
“I want a baby.”
Hyosung’s jaw dropped.
“W-w-w-what!?!”
“I want us to have a baby” he said, his face serious.
“W-w-what?!” she said once more.
“A baby….you and me” he replied.
“A baby?” Hyosung whispered in disbelief.
Kikwang nodded.
“I know we’ve only been married a short while but I don’t care. When I look at you, I just see a family. I want to start a family as soon as possible.”
“We have a family” she replied, still in shock.
Kikwang smirked.
“You are Bora’s mother…but I also want a baby with you” he said.
Hyosung fanned herself.
“A baby? But it is so sudden, this came out of nowhere.”
Kikwang smirked and his lips, causing Hyosung to blush.
“I know” he whispered.
She rolled her eyes at him.
“So what do you say?” he asked, his hands pulling her closer.
Hyosung looked into his eyes.
“Are you sure?” she asked in a whisper.
Kikwang nodded.
She bit her bottom lip.
“A baby is a lot of work and needs a lot of attention” she said.
“I know” he replied.
 Hyosung thought about it. They had been married a few months now, almost 6 months. They had grown so much closer and had fallen even more in love with each other. She looked at him. Of course she wanted them to have more children one day but she didn’t expect it to be brought up so soon, especially when he already had Bora.
“You work too much” she voiced.
“I am hiring more people to work at the shop so I won’t have to work so much. Our joint bank account is filled with money so it doesn’t matter if we don’t work so much. Within a year or two, we will finally have enough money to buy a nice house just a few minutes outside of town. I have thought this out ever since we got married. I’m ready.”
Hyosung stared at him in amazement.
“So what do you say?” he asked again.
She could feel the butterflies in her stomach and the dryness of but she also could feel excitement and joy too. Hyosung looked into Kikwang’s eyes, never wanting to look away. She loved him so much and she couldn’t help but smile as she nodded.
“I’m rea- AAH!”
Kikwang picked Hyosung up bridal style and quickly ran out of the room and into the bedroom and threw her onto the bed.
“Yah! What are you doing?” she asked as Kikwang plopped down on the bed next to her, already starting to take off his clothes. He looked at her with a confused expression.
“You said you were ready” he replied.
Hyosung smacked him on the arm and rolled her eyes.
“I am but did you really have to throw me?”
Kikwang suddenly pulled out a list from his pocket and showed it to her.
“What is this?” she asked as her eyes scanned the list.
“Yoseob’s tips for making this romantic.”
Hyosung sighed and handed it back to him.
“This isn’t romantic” she voiced.
“WHAT!? Yes this is! Look at this one, throw your wife on the bed and snuggle before you get it on. Snuggling is romantic!”
Hyosung grabbed a pillow and hit Kikwang over the head.
“Get it on?? How is that romantic?!”
“What about this one? Tell her she is beautiful and that you love her, then touch her-”
She hit him again and took the list from him.
“Yah! Don’t ever take advice from Yoseob-ah again.”
She ripped the list and gave it back to Kikwang.
“It’s only romantic if you think of these things, not someone else” she said, lightly hit him again with the pillow, ruffling his hair again.
“If I had it my way, you would be have already been pregnant by now.
“What!?” Hyosung asked, her eyes widening.
“In fact, we would be on our way to having our second baby by now but unfortunately you wouldn’t get pregnant.”
“You’re crazy” she said and kicked him off the bed.
“What are you doing?” he asked as he stood back up and saw Hyosung throwing a pillow on the floor.
“You’re sleeping on the floor tonight. Don’t you know not to insult your wife, especially if you want something from her?”
“But what about the baby?” Kikwang asked, his eyes showing sadness.
Hyosung rolled your eyes at him.
“On second thought, you’re sleeping on the couch.”
Before he could protest, she flung a pillow out of the room and pushed him out, and locked the door.
“Let’s try tomorrow then!” he yelled out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The first time that they tried, Hyosung’s best friend from high school had stopped by to visit.

“Unnie!” she said and launched herself into Hyosung’s arms.

“Sunhwa!?” she asked in shock.

Hyosung pulled back and smiled.

“Surprise!!! Ji-Eun unnie told me where you lived so I came to visit!” Sunhwa said.

Hyosung couldn’t help but love the sight of her even though this was not the best moment. She could feel Kikwang’s heated gaze burning into her back. Hyosung cleared .

“Sunhwa-yah…what are you doing here? You live so far away” Hyosung said as she invited Sunhwa in.

“I actually am looking for apartments. I just got a job here and since an apartment I am looking at is near here, I decided to visit you.”

Sunhwa saw a figure come out from behind a corner and smiled.

“Annyeo-OMO!”

Sunhwa quickly covered her eyes and Hyosung blushed in embarrassment as Kikwang tried to cover up his upper body.

 “I’ll leave you two alone” he said and quickly entered the bedroom and shut the door. Sunhwa lowered her hands and blinked in confusion.

“Unnie….was that your husband that Ji-Eun unnie was telling me about?”

Hyosung managed a smile and nodded.

“Did I…interrupt something?”

Hyosung shook her head and her hands, feeling her cheeks burn.

“Of course not, Kikwang was just changing, that’s all.”

“Oh! Okay!” Sunhwa replied

“Let’s sit and talk Sunhwa-yah.”

Sunhwa happily agreed and immediately started telling Hyosung about a guy she had just started dating and how dorky he was. They continued to talk until late at night, and even though Hyosung knew Kikwang was going to protest, she offered Sunhwa to stay the night, which she happily accepted. Once Hyosung finally managed to break away from Sunhwa and snuck back into her room, Kikwang was in bed, watching television. He looked up at Hyosung and immediately frowned.

“You asked her to spend the night, didn’t you?”

Hyosung looked away and slowly nodded. Kikwang let out a sigh and just shook his head. He turned off the television and pulled up the bed sheets, inviting her to join. She slid in and wrapped her arms around him.

Kikwang turned off the lamp beside him and pulled her close. She loved that Kikwang was understanding and sweet.

The next day, however, as Hyosung happily chatted with Sunhwa in the middle of the night, Kikwang frowned. Hyosung bit her lip and looked away. Minutes later, Kikwang was already gone when Sunhwa finally goodbye and left the apartment. Hyosung glanced at the clock and winced at the time. It was almost 1 am. She made her way to the bedroom and stood outside, looking at the door. She knew Kikwang was upset. She entered the room and saw him in bed, his back to her. Hyosung quickly changed and climbed into bed. Shesnuggled up to Kikwang but he didn’t respond to her. She lightly poked him.

“Are you angry?” she whispered.

Kikwang didn’t move. She poked him again but no reaction.

“Yeobo…” Hyosung said

Kikwang stirred, causing Hyosung to smile. Calling him yeobo always worked.

“Yeobo…I’m sorry but she’s my best friend. I couldn’t turn her away.”

Kikwang sighed and finally turned to face Hyosung. He looked at herand simply nodded.

“I’m not mad at her. I’m mad our chance is ruined. I don’t know when I’ll get another vacation like this.”

He pulled Hyosung close and she smiled.

“Next time…yeobo” she said and kissed him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second time they were going to try, Kikwang was the one to blame.
“I’m sorry” he said as he looked at Hyosung’s angry face.
She pursed her lips together as she looked at the 6 men standing in front of her. She took a deep breath before she spoke.
“Okay…so tell me again what happened?” she asked, her voice low.
Kikwang rubbed the back of his neck.
“I…went out to hang with the guys earlier…”
“Uh huh…while I was work? I can understand that. Go on.”
“Doojoon-ah suggested that we go for a drink.”
“What time did he suggest that?” Hyosung asked, her foot tapping on the floor.
Kikwang tried to give her a grin.
“About 6 pm” he replied.
“Then what happened?” she asked.
“We went to a bar and hung out there for a few hours.”
“Then what?”
“We went to eat” he replied.
“And then?” she asked, her voice getting louder.
Kikwang winced.
“Junhyung suggested we walk around town.”
“Oh…so it was Junhyung-ah’s idea?” she asked.
“Aish”
Both of them turned their attention to Junhyung who gave Kikwang a death glare.
“Idiot” Junhyung said.
Kikwang rolled his eyes but continued his story.
“Anyway, then someone bumped into Hyunseung and next thing you know, someone threw a punch-”
“Stop…just stop” Hyosung said as she held a hand up.
Hyunseung suddenly hit Kikwang for giving him up.
She sighed and stepped closer to Kikwang.
“Are you aware that you suggested we do that thing we were supposed to do? I stayed up waiting for you” she hissed.
Kikwang grinned but immediately wiped it off his face when he saw Hyosung’s glare.
“I’m sorry” he said.
Hyosung simply rolled her eyes and stepped back.
“So what is going to be ma’am?”
Hyosung turned to look at the officer.
“I’ll pay the bail, but don’t let them out for another hour.”
The officer nodded.
“Yeobo!” Kikwang cried out in horror.
“Yah, Lee Kikwang, you’re the one who got drunk, beat up a group of guys and destroyed 3 food stands. You deserve to be in jail…not to mention that all of you got at one point!”
The guys shrunk back as Hyosung lectured them. Everything she had said was true. They had gotten drunk and gotten into a fight out in the street. They had destroyed food stands and even streaked in the middle of the street. They had finally been arrested around 4am and so Hyosung was in front of them since the police had called her. Kikwang felt especially guilty because he and Hyosung had made plans that night. Bora was currently at her grandmother’s house and so they both thought it was the perfect chance. However, he had ruined their potential night and he knew that she was not going to be “in the mood” for a long time.
Hyosung looked as they all tightened their blankets around themselves. They had no clothes and so they were completely underneath. She rolled her eyes at them.
“See you at home Yeobo” she said as she walked away grinning.
She wondered how they would get home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The third attempt was neither Hyosung’s fault nor Kikwang’s. In fact, maybe this time it was just bad luck or good luck, however you wanted to look at it.

As Hyosung entered her home and saw Jian, Kikwang’s mother, she thought maybe it was just cruel timing.

“There’s my daughter in law! Aigoo!! Look at you. Come give me and your omma a hug!!”

Hyosung was pulled into her mother in law’s embrace. As she stood back and looked at Jian, Hyosung smiled.

“What a surprise. Kikwang-ah didn’t say you were coming.”

“That’s because I didn’t tell him. I called him and he said he was home, so I picked up Ji-Eun and we showed up just a few minutes ago” replied Jian.

“Oh…IU is here too?” Hyosung asked, her smiling almost fading.

“Unnie!” IU said as she came out of the kitchen and hugged Hyosung.

Hyosung hugged her back. It wasn’t that she wasn’t glad to see them…but she and Kikwang were going to try that thing they had been trying to do for weeks.

 “Would you like something to eat or drink?” Hyosung asked.

Before long, she was in the kitchen with Jian.

“Omma, I don’t want you to burden yourself. You can go sit in the living room” Hyosung said as she turned to look at Jian cutting vegetables.

Jian waved Hyosung off and continued to cut the vegetables.

“I like cooking with you” she replied and smiled.

Hyosung snuck a look over to the living room and saw Kikwang and IU watching television and talking while Bora played with her toys. Kikwang caught Hyosung’s gaze and smiled apologetically. She shook her head and just continued cooking with her mother in law.

Jian and IU ended up spending the night. The next day, Kikwang went back to his overtime work schedule and leaving Hyosung to mark off the days on the calendar until they could try again.
