Author's Note
Late AutumnHello, it’s cattleyae! Thank you for the love and support for Late Autumn until now!
I'm glad to finally complete the seasons series. As I’ve mentioned in the foreword, the beginning is taken from a chapter in Green Nocturne and I developed everything else as I wrote the chapters while being inspired by a few songs along the way.
I personally like the dynamic between Kyungsoo and Sara because we always want that one friend you can be ‘seenaknya’ with (I’m really sorry I don’t think I have the right translation or word that can describe that phrase, basically it means someone you can feel completely at ease with). What happened to Kyungsoo elevated their relationship, and through that they might have realized what their friendship came into.
Kyungsoo’s struggles can be seen through DAY6’s Colors:
“I’ve been quietly living
In a deep tunnel
That swallowed up the light
On the dark road ahead”
“Now I’m so sick of it
The colors of you that I see from time to time
It raises me up”
“If you could, save me”
A few lines from DAY6’s rewritten version of Crush’s Sofa paints a bit of Sara’s attempt to ‘save’ Kyungsoo:
“Sitting on this sofa
Last time I remember
You told me “keep your head up”
There’s no shame to being lost”
“You were sitting on that sofa, telling me child it’s over
So go on stop crying now as you held my hands tighter”
And last, Home by Seventeen is both for Kyungsoo and Sara, as in the end they can be each other’s ‘home’, someone to lean their heart on:
“What can we do? Without me
You’ll struggle just as much, so what can we do?”
“What do I do? Without you
My heart has no home”
“Cause I’m your home
I’m the place you can come to
You’re the place I can go to”
Those songs are my on-repeat list right now. I apologize for the DAY6 overdose, since I saw their concert in early December last year my love for them increased tenfold and I can’t stop listening to them right now. Stan talent stan DAY6
Once again, thank you so much for the love and support for Late Autumn and my seasons series! ❤
