Death and it's consequences.

Wizards Of The Coast

Rosé had a fairly usual afternoon. Well as usual as her day could be working in forensics and autopsy in Coast city's police department. Her eyes trailing the whisp of steam emanating from her coffee. Until she heard the sound of someone entering her workspace.

A frown setting into her face signifying the start of a new work day. She honestly should change professions after all in her current line of work, she dealt with problems long after they were fixable. But considering she didn't have a doctorate she couldn't actually be a legal doctor.

Despite her innate abilities. Plus she kinda needed to pay her rent.

She was surprised to notice Soyeon with a smile nonetheless. It was odd to see the detective with nothing but a focused look on her face.

"It would seem you have mail from a boy no less," She said with a teasing smile. Apparently, the detective despite her amazing abilities of deduction was getting the wrong idea. "Before you even say anything to deny it there's also a package with some flowers."

The packages being delivered on the counter next to her by someone she swore looked familiar. However, she couldn't but raise her eyebrow at the detective. "I assure it's nothing of the like Detective, or at the very least I wasn't expecting something like this."

"Even better! A secret admirer," she said with a curious smile. Rose could tell by the way she moved that she was pleased to not have a murder on her hand for once.

Rose tentatively opened the enveloped with a finely pressed letter held within it. She thought nothing of it until she saw a familiar symbol causing her face to shift in surprise. It had been so long since she'd seen such a thing.

She almost didn't want to bring it up to the young detective. After all, she knew that it would get rid of most of the fun for her. However, Soyeon's eyes were like a hawk instantly picking up on her change in expression.

"Looks like it's not some secret admirer," she added analysing her facial expression which made her feel oddly vulnerable. "In fact, you seem more than a little surprised there Chaeyoung. In fact, I'd say that it's something you didn't expect to see ever again."

Or at the very least so soon or in a letter at the least. While she would complain that she at least deserved a physical visit. She did disappear for a reason, making such a dream less than possible.

She lightly pulled out the letter with her delicate hands in fear that the letter might go up in flames in front of her eyes.

However, despite the presence of the symbol, she found a rudimental letter claiming she'd inherited some items from an estate. Her eyebrows knitting in confusion.

"Would you mind passing me that letter after you're done?" Soyeon asked noting the girl's confusion which muddied the words her expression could tell her.

"Yeah sure," she said softly obviously focused on something else as she opened up the small box in confusion.

Soyeon knew exactly what type of letter this was. After all, she'd experienced it herself and she couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor girl.

The contents of the box were an oddity to the girl. A packet of cigarettes, a jacket, a black book and a single silver cross earring. She turned to Soyeon a confuddled expression on her face.

She, however, noticed the detective's grim look on her face. "It would seem that someone close to you has died or at the very least they think you're close to their heart."

"It is an oddity for it not to be mentioned who but judging from the unique iconography you should be able to figure it out. I'll uh, give you some space," she said before leaving.

She inspected the coat closely looking through the pockets. Hoping it revealed who it belonged to.

She, however, did not have much luck. She noted how it did smell like it was freshly washed. The cigarettes weren't anything out of the usual if a bit of an odd thing to leave for her. However, on closer inspection, they smelled of Vanilla and lacked the content of tobacco.

Before she could open the book to have a look through it Soyeon knocked on her door.

"It seems we have an urgent case and you're needed to inspect an unidentified body. It's a very...  unique problem," she stated as she led Rosé to the unique problem. "He had no ID so we couldn't identify him. So we need you to do your best. I won't blame you if you can't the higher ups just want you to try."

She felt a tad stupid for even asking the question but it was good to make sure regardless. "Have you ran his prints?"

Soyeon could help but chuckle slightly as she looked at her. "That's the thing," she said opening the door before walking in.

However, as she followed behind Soyeon her foot couldn't but get stuck on the lip of the entrance causing her to stumble forward. She managed to recover if only at the cost of the black book that was in her hand. She watched as it sailed through the air in a slow motion like trance. Pages fluttering in the air as they became loose and released themselves from their bindings.

Single words and art on each leaflet. However, her eyes focused only one like an unnatural connection but perhaps it was only random.

The single word burning into her mind as it fell down revealing the unidentified body.

Death

There lay Min Yoongi and she couldn't but lose control of her emotions at the sight. Tears welling up in her eyes seeing his scarred body so different and worse off than she'd last seen him. Metal encasing his hands, a stripe of hardened metal underneath his eyes that were oh so lifeless.

Each individual item making sense now.

The jacket.

"You know I'm gonna have to steal that jacket off you if you're gonna keep on getting to fights," She teased, it had been well known that she'd wanted his jacket for the longest time. He couldn't help but groan at every stitch etching his skin despite her dexterous hands. "Wouldn't want you to wreck it now would we?"

He couldn't help but smile in response. "You know you could always protect me beforehand with your magic you know?" He pointed before groaning again as the needle punctured his skin.

"We both know you wouldn't learn otherwise," she teased with a laugh. He was right she could quite easily do that by shielding him with her faith or just back him up physically. But at least if she didn't he wouldn't get to fight unnecessarily. Though she did suppose that's what happens when you gain powers after being bullied most of your life.

"You're not wrong there Roro," he replied as he heard the clattering of the needle being put away. He quickly put his shirt back on fully before walking over to Rosé.

"Thanks again," he said before ruffling her hair and leaving.

He did stop getting into fights after that. However, she couldn't help but wonder if that was because of that conversation or because of the fact he met Jennie around that time.

Soyeon looked at Rosé in worry at first due to the scattering paper until she looked into her eyes as tears began to slowly trickle down. Before she could offer any words at all Rose spoke.

"Min Yoongi," she stated softly and simply the words sinking in with the reality as they left . The detective quickly rushing over in a consoling hug as her shoulder stifled a sob. Her head leaving Soyeon's shoulder for a second. "That's his name."

While Soyeon comforted her she couldn't help but wonder what she'd gotten herself into. She had intially thought that the poor male had been tortured to death. His body obviously supported such a theory. But the crime scene didn't after all his body was found near an exploded penthouse belonging to Jennie Kim. Who couldn't be found currently. Not to mention the other body belonging to the infamous Black Tiger whose wounds were nearly as unexplainable.

Not to mention the eerie display earlier. The image of a raven floating around in her mind with dark whispers.

There was an awkward cough behind her as a voice spoke up. "I'm sorry detective. But we believe there's another scene pertaining to this case. Detective Jung has been assigned as your partner for this case as well. He'll meet you there."

"Rosé, why don't you take the rest of the day off?" She suggested. After all, she'd need a clear head if she was going to be any help. She had a feeling the girl knew more than she was letting on.

"Thank you detective," she said with a weak smile as she left her embrace.

"Please, call me Soyeon," She replied as she watched Rose quickly pick up the scattered pages. Reminding her to take a note of what she saw the Raven whisper.

Her body felt drained as her keys clattered against her door as the lock slowly clicked into place. She supposed that sometimes emotions way a heavier toll on your system than most people would care to admit

Her boots making a subtle clicking noise with each step against the hardwood floor as she opened the door.

She was surprised to see someone already inside her building.

Not just anyone.

"You have a nice place Rosé. You were a little harder to find than expected," She said with a smile.

Jennie Kim.

A/N:
How's this for an update? Yah boi actually updating in a rather rapid fashion for once. Though it's nowhere near as long as the last chapter mainly because I cut back some info I didn't want to reveal until later down the line.

Talking about information the first person to leave a decent comment will find out what Soyeon wrote down.

Also, I might apologise in advance for people that read dominion considering this is my focus for Nanowrimo. Mainly due to the fact it's actually a lot easier for me to convert into normal fiction without too many changes. However, I'll still alternate between stories unless my Nanowrimo schedule becomes tighter than I'd like.

Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed! Even if it was mainly just set up for later chapters I'd still like to hear your thoughts because they kinda help me write.

Like this story? Give it an Upvote!
Thank you!
