Hands of Steel and Pain

Wizards Of The Coast

His feelings were raw that sought of aching pain that could be cured by pure seething hatred and revenge. Yet he would not do such a thing. Was it beneath him? No, there was no such thing.

But she had played him and played him well she did. If it had been anyone else he would've given them praise. But her? She had always been such a weak spot for him. The Achilles heel of his heart. He could tell if it was because he honestly thought she could change or if he just wanted to believe she could.

He had missed her after all though. Her eyes with a twinkle of mischief and her loving scent of vanilla that graced her body.

Perhaps this was the last straw? Locked in a vault in hopes of finding her kidnapped brother.

Except of course there was no such thing. A long con that even Ponzi would be proud of.

He yelled in frustration as he slammed his fists in frustration against the steel doors out of frustration.

What was he gonna do with her?

Jennie god damn Kim.

Normally he'd get out of pickle like this with ease. But this was different he was stuck in an electrically conductive vault. Not some building with stone walls or such. Jisoo would've been fine her abilities allowed a certain amount of finesse. Whilst Namjoon would've been able to brute strength his way out no doubt. That dude had some inhuman strength.

What would he even do if he got out? It's not like there was even a point going after Jennie. What would even say to her anyway?

He slow slumped down with his back to the vault door. Frustration settling into his bones. All he felt was anger. He'd finally been on the path to being a good man after all and she was also seemingly on the same path. Had he had dreams about their potential lives together?

Though he supposed they'd be torturous nightmares now.

That was when he began to hear murky whispers beneath the steel.

"Boss it turns out she got the last key," the grunt informed probably regrettably. The dude probably feared for his life. After all being in a 'crime family' was a hard and often short life for most.

However, he couldn't but hear perhaps a chuckle from the boss. Black Tiger was his name with ferocity and speed to match. He was surprised a normal person could get up with people like them. Yet he managed and quite easily as well.

"I kinda figured she would. There's a tracker on it I just need her to lead me to other keys," He points out with a sense of pride evident in his voice. He should've figured the dude would do something like that. After all, she'd have expected something was up if there nothing guarding the thing. But sending half of his clan and keeping it in a steel vault? No one would think any different.

Jennie wouldn't think any different.

But he supposed that'd be her problem, not his. Even if he could get out would he even help her?

"Worst comes to worse I've set explosives at her penthouse that'll trigger as soon as she walks in," Black Tiger said with a sense of glee at finally eliminating the thorn in his side for many years.

The frustration left his body at those words. Sure he was angry at her but did she deserve to die for betraying the umpteenth time? No, sure if you asked him that a few years ago he would've agreed wholeheartedly. But that was before he could even think of her doing such a thing and when he was much angrier.

He let his mind sink back into her words as she left him and locked him up in this godforsaken vault. It was like diving deeper in a deep black ocean. The good man in him struggled to grab on to such things to bring harm to his own heart. To let the blood of anger and sadness flow.

To let the good man die once again.

It was slow at first. The reminiscing of something better, the times when he felt like they had a future. That she could finally change for him. Even just seeing her after many years was a good sight. He missed how well their bodies flowed and interweaved during combat.

They worked well together.

The depths of his soul became darker as he remembered the startling truth. That she wasn't forced back into this life for her brother. That instead it was all a part of her plan. Her stringing him along as just enough pawn on her chess board to riches. The raw pain like the skin of his body getting ripped off his body.

"I never needed you," her words whispering around his heart like a coiling snake. The sense of accomplishment in her eyes at tricking him ripping his heart in half.

Unleashing the storm.

It didn't start off as a small crackle as it used to when he called upon it as he used. No, it was because these feelings were real and not just a small facsimile to enact his power in his veins.

It came as a torrent flushing through his veins crackling through his veins into hands. Nothing but pure electric energy threatening to escape it's bound and leave his body.

He was on a delicate scale between pure unstable power and control. The only thing keeping him stable was the conflicting feelings of his love for and his hatred. This was a dumb idea but he was sure it was gonna work but it was gonna hurt regardless as he noticed the electricity lightly burn his skin.

Those would be nothing compared to what would come next.

He pressed his hands against the steel as he felt it slowly heat. His rage threatening to burn over with years without use.

He remembers her loving embrace the feel of her skin against his as well the feel of her lips against his. The feeling of love slowly calming the power at his fingertips.

He wanted one last moment of clarity before he completely lost it. After all, he felt the fire in his veins and he knew he needed it.

So he uttered one last chant in his brain so the rage in soul could be guided somewhere.

Save Jennie

Then the floodgates were unleashed as if what was before was nothing but a parlour trick. Raging electricity released from every fibre of his body slowly melting through the steel burning his hand as it did so. Burning into his hand becoming a part of his ever scarred body. Soon his arm was through the steal vault melting a man-sized hole through the vault pushing with every source of pain he could find. His mind lost in a sea of utter red that could only be described as blood. His body slowly feeling the weight of his rage. A familiar weapon in his arsenal long underused.

He heard screams of grunts alike as they spotted him. In their eyes, he was no longer human but rage given form as he rushed through them without even a glancing thought. There was no need to deal with them after all. The energy crackling off his body striking whoever got near him as he just blasted through a wall on his mission

Save Jennie

His body bounding his muscles together as leapt through the sky towards his target. Black tiger was most likely already on his way to Jennie's. That took a lot longer than he'd like. He let the electricity out into the air hoping it'd heat and insulate the air as Namjoon told him he could glide if he did so.

However, he quickly began to fall as such a power required rationality and conscious thought. So he called on his rage in a desperate fit to move quicker. He had to get to her.

His body quickly plummeting with every second passed. His heart sinking into his stomach as he fell.

Save Jennie

He focused on the pain and grief of finally seeing her again.

Save Jennie

The fact that she played him like a fiddle so easy.

Save Jennie

The fact he might not see her ever again.

Then he was gone in a flash of lightning.

Before he could hear the sound distant explosions.

This was probably not her smartest play. Everything had gone according to plan up until the end. Her breathing ragged as she barely escaped the explosion. She felt like but it was probably better than dead. She should've known better after all Black Tiger would've known how crafty she was from temporarily working underneath him. The only person who didn't seem to know was Yoongi. The foolish boy did never learn. But he'd grown into a decent man while she only became worse. She wished she could've straightened out for him.

She really did.

How she managed to barely escape such an explosion was unknown to her. Sure it would've nothing for someone as nimble and agile as Lisa. Here thoughts drifting back to what she could only explain as a predatory sense in the back of her head. Akin to a tiger roaring but understanding what was coming next like pure instinct.

Her breathing come to a sputtering cough as smoke enveloped around her. While she was outside the brunt of the explosion she still needed to move and get out before she died from smoke inhalation.

However, as she got up she couldn't help but notice the pain in her left leg as she got up. It was a sharp digging pain. When looked at it for closer inspection she noted there was a shard of glass. On first instinct, she went to remove it only to remember Rose telling her that it isn't a good idea to do that because you'll bleed faster.

She quickly hobbled out of the remains of her expensive house.

"Maybe Yoongi was right on at least one thing. I could've definitely bought something better than this place. Especially if I was gonna stay in this line of work," she said with a laugh. She could only hope that Black Tiger wasn't gonna check the remains of her house for her. At best she had a couple hours to escape before he realised the building had exploded.

"Long time no see Jennie. I can see you were on your way to drop my key back off to me," his voice dripping with sarcasm as he said such things.

Well turns out she much less time then she thought she had. Her hands gripping the bow on her back and aiming it at the male in front of her without a hint hesitation.

His face instantly turned into a frown. "Now I didn't wanna do this. After all, I gave you a chance to at least pretend you weren't betraying me. It seems you're really good at that aren't you Kim," He says with a smile. Only giving her flashbacks to earlier with Yoongi.

Perhaps now would be a bad time to remember that Yoongi was probably right and here she was utterly ed. Perhaps she'd have been able to fight him to a standstill if she wasn't injured. The problem with a bow is that it's typically not that good in close range.

"I did what I thought was right at the time. But I will admit that I'm regretting it a tad now," She said as they slowly began circling each other. She took in her surroundings to note that there was no doubt the half of his clan around.

Black Tiger himself also noticed her injury. "It would seem you're not worth my time Kim. Perhaps Yoongi would've been a good much. Hell he might've been able to kill me with the way he left in a huff. You should've seen him!" He said with a pure look of excitement on his face as he began to turn his back to her. "I've never seen the boy lose it quite like that. I've tried pushing him to the edge but you could do it with a mere tactical betrayal."

He began to laugh slowly as result. Jennie decided to take the shot while she could.

Turns out it was a bad idea as he just caught it in his hand. "That's quite underhanded of you Kim. I'd have expected better from a Wizard or should I say ex-wizard?" He taunted with a jeering smile. He was just playing with her. After all, while Black Tiger was all kinds of an he treated you with the respect you deserved at the moment. Right now all he saw was an injured girl with a bow. That and a traitor.

He expected her to betray him but not one of the Wizards.

"Anyway, I've had enough time playing with you. I'm gonna find those keys," he said as he walked right past her towards the remains of her house. He was no doubt going for her trophy room the only part that was still left standing. "Also boys deal with her. I don't have time to deal traitors."

She only had a second to loose an arrow to deflect an oncoming bullet. Lucky for her she still had her gear from when she was a Wizard. Titanium arrows thanks to Namjoon. Though she was gonna run out eventually hopefully she'd run out after she'd dealt with all the goons.

She was also grateful that she didn't need her leg to shoot her bow.

She quickly saw at least three dudes quickly rush her and one of them was a big motherer too. Thankfully headshots always work. She quickly loosed three arrows in quick succession dealing with the more immediate threats as quickly as she could only to notice a throwing go straight for her.

At least that's what she thought until it severed her bow's string.

"," she said in frustration quickly drawing his daggers from her boots. She'd have to focus on defence until she enough mana to pass without a trace.

Her blades quickly clashed with a steel pipe aimed at her overhead. Things would've been a lot easier if she didn't use most of her mana earlier today on the horde that was guarding the vault. She didn't even get to rest which was her original plan when she got home.

As she went to deflect the pipe and go for a kick. She thought better of it due to the pain in her leg. Choosing instead to spit in the dude's eyes and stab him while he was distracted. Only for the dude's body to fall down and see a big dude behind him.

Quickly deciding that that there was no way that she could possibly block any of that dude's attacks. She decided to throw her knife straight at his head. Her knife was long enough to down the dude and he went down with a satisfying thump.

However, before she could even think of retrieving her dagger she noticed that she got surrounded once again.

It would seem she was running out of luck today.

She'd be lying if she said she wouldn't miss him and his cheesy smile.

She quietly just knelt to the ground her hand dropping her knife as it clattered to the floor. Exhaustion finally hitting her. Even if they were stronger than normal humans they could only go through so much in a day.

However, before she could even think about praying to God for forgiveness. There was a thunderous boom as a crackling pillar of light erupted in front of her shielding her from the spray of bullets and knives.

There stood in front of her the man she'd never thought she'd see again.

However she couldn't help but frown. After all, he looked like nothing but a damaged shell of the last time she'd seen him. His hair an unkempt mess metal flakes dotting his hair and skin marring his complexion. It hurt her to see him like that after all she'd forgotten he wasn't as versatile as the rest of the Wizards. She noted the smell of burning flesh coming off him as she noticed his hand encased in steel quickly hardening and softening at the flex of his power.

But what broke her heart the most was seeing the pure animalistic brutality in his eyes as he fought them off. His open hand grabbing a grunt's head as she could smell it burning through the pure guy's face. Another went to surprise him with a sword only for him to break it with his free hand.

He was a monster fighting with brutal effiency. Those he couldn't directly harm with her his hands were speared by bolts of lightning directed by his glare. She quickly got up to fight as well at least to spare those she could to his animalistic onslaught.

She heard the frantic screaming off a grunt through a phone to what she could only assume was attack helicopters considering there was some talk of an attack run on their position.

"Jennie to me," He commanded as he too heard the cry for an attack run. She wondered what his plan was? Perhaps he'd regained some of his rational thought and they were going to escape.

She could only hope so.

However, as the choppers got close she couldn't help but fear the worst especially when she heard the spin of the miniguns approach them. As she braced for the inevitable embrace of death she heard him howl in rage at the bullets flying towards them only to see them fly past the narrowly missing them as they began to slowly slow down to a halt and circle around the two of them. His anger flaring in his eyes again as he released them back out towards their owners.

Causing everything in the nearby vicinity to embrace a wave of death as everything became motionless as things began to explode in the background.

Normally this would've been the point where he would've made a quip about returning them back to sender. But all she got was motionless silence as the smoke began to settle around them. She couldn't help but sneak a glance him only to see quietly look back as mouth began to open.

"This is the last time Jennie," he said oddly calm and quiet despite his anger filled form. "The last time I help you."

She tried to open in protest. Not because she still believed she deserved his help. But because she was scared that she'd never see him or the other Wizards for that matter.

However, before she could even try to say anything she heard a familiar figure return with a slow clap. "I didn't think you'd come Yoongi. I certainly wouldn't have but you know that's me. I must say I'm impressed you took everything on like that. But it's nothing compared to me."

He quickly got into fighting posistion as he rushed towards Yoongi. Their fists colliding with destructive force the blowback sending them both flying backwards with Jennie quickly rushing towards his side.

"We need to leave Yoongi," she pleaded as he slowly got up. Completely ignoring her pleas she did notice however he said something under his breath.

"That's quite a punch you've got there," Black Tiger said with a smile. "But I couldn't but notice something."

He quickly appeared in front of Yoongi causing him to hastily block while Black tiger hit with a dagger in the side with his free hand. "Hm," he said with a smile. "Looks like I'm correct."

She noticed the blood slowly trickle out his side with horror. Just exactly how strong was Black Tiger? Had he been holding back whenever they thought.

"Do you wanna tell her or should I?" He asked with a frown. Yoongi couldn't help but cough up blood in response. "He's not a proper storm herald. The lightning hurts him just about as much as it hurts anyone else. I'd have to guess his nerves are completely fried but he knows he probably won't survive using it again."

"Too bad rules are rules and I still have to kill you both," he said as he gripped three knives in each hand. "Any last words friend?"

However, it would seem Yoongi was already at his limit as the steel began to solidify around his hands. More blood coming up as every odd breath coughed up more. Muttering to himself incoherently as he struggled to get in position.

Jennie quickly grabbed her knife and got in front of him. Tears threatening to spill forth from her eyes seeing him like this. "Don't do this Yoongi you've already done enough for me. More than I deserve. I don't want you to die for me because of this."

"Well isn't this cute," Black Tiger said sarcastically before throwing a throwing knife at her other leg causing her to slump down to the ground. "But at least he can stand. Actually, I wonder if I kill you if he'd be able to go for longer?"

A smile present on the man's face as Yoongi fell to the ground in a coughing fit. She braced through the pain and got up barely holding her fighting stance together with wobbling legs.

"I need you to leave Yoongi. You deserve better than this," she cried out to coughing form only to turn forward seeing an aura of monstrously huge black tiger and Black Tiger mere inches from killing her.

But she couldn't help but smile as she finally felt like she was doing good as she reminisced of her time with Yoongi. Cafe dates with the sweet smell of coffee and the times where they'd both hang out at home because they both hate people. Ho happy his smile would be when he'd give her a song as a present for her birthday and her crying in response.

Simpler times.

Better times.

She closed her eyes waiting for the sweet embrace.

She could feel the warm embrace of the light before she heard three words and they weren't the ones she expected.

...

..

.

"Protect Jennie Kim," she heard as heard the sound of knives puncturing flesh. But no pain.

She opened her eyes to see Yoongi holding her in a tight embrace. Tears flooding down her face as she came to the realisation of what he did.  A look of surprise and then fair crossing Black Tiger's face as the lightning left Yoongi's body at the utterance of a single word.

"Baekho," he whispered as the lightning coalesced into a single form as it swallowed Black Tiger's Aura whole. The white tiger of the west appearing and attacking Black Tiger. Yoongi quickly let go before running in to kill Black Tiger. His face returning to his normally calm face as he smiled at her as he did mouthing a word to her before he did the unthinkable.

Goodbye

He dove with Black Tiger off the edge of the penthouse and towards his death. As a crackle of lightning took her away to what was a Wizards hideout.

It had turned out the news was true. The Wizards had broken up. Perhaps that was the reason Yoongi was so attached to her.

"They always listened to you."

She spent a good couple days crying to herself in his old room. Her room being purely empty from when she moved out. Not that she would've stayed there anyway. She just wanted to be close to him. Well, what was left of him anyway.

She noticed that he'd left two things in her pockets. The key that got him killed and a letter that she hadn't wanted to open until now but she felt like it was the right time to open it.

If you're receiving this letter than I've used my rage one last time.

I knew deep down that if I ever used it again it'd be the death of me hopefully it was for something good? Skycrusher would be mad at me knowing I let it control me instead of striking a balance.

This is what I mean by this will be the last time I'd help you Jennie. It was a fun time between me and you. But I hope you won't let this drag you down I want you to be happy in life. Even if it's without me.

But could you do me one favour?

Could you get everyone back together?

Talk to Namjoon if you want to find the boys but for the girls, I have a list of notes.

Rosé is working a medical job somewhere in the city. I'm not too surprised given her power set and her aversion to conflict.

Lisa is probably working at some bar or club with good music and even better alcohol given she's the drunken master. Also, the only drunken master to ever actually drink instead of act like a drunk.

Jisoo is gonna be the hardest to find but you knew her better than anyone so I'll leave her up to you.

Thanks,

Min Yoongi
