Chapter I

“Legend has it the world before was all bright and beautiful. People roam freely upon the face of the earth only wondering on what to do for their lives. Those were the peaceful days. It was also said that those were the days we can never return to. Within that peaceful era is where the problem had slowly arise. People have been focusing on themselves too much that they have forgotten where they were living is also a living body, the very thing that keeping them alive, is capable of dying. Various modernizations have taken over the world in a fast pace, and though there are some that had been fighting for it in those times, seems like it wasn't enough.

Earth had been giving signs that it's tired then and humans thought that they can shrug it to normalcy. When all of a sudden something happened that caught everyone by surprise.

The heat waves began.

It was said that the waves started by the year 2536 which little ripples of heat started to dissipate in the atmosphere. These news weren't known because they thought that these abnormal temperature is tolerable and might just cause an alarm to citizens.

They were wrong.

Years passed and the waves, matching with abnormal weather grew intense. People was now balancing themselves with inner conflicts and environmental tragedies. The abuse of power and economics battles ruled.

Until the massive heat wave came, killing a third of the population followed by the great flood 7 days later leaving a third of the earth's population–barely alive.

Surviving, by living thru rural areas were called the immortals. Rumor has it that these people were incapable of dying. Immortals were known as genius scientists and powerful individuals who had been anticipating the apocalypse long before the waves began and started experimenting on life prolongation and preservation of species. Thus, it is said they had survive that way. But until now, their whereabouts were still unknown. Though they are not seen, it was also said that they controlled the world in their own ways.”

“You should stop putting delusional thoughts to pups, Jin-ah. Stop telling them fake stories of humans that roamed the lands to farm and to eat and tend to themselves without any care for the world. You're making them irresponsible wolves of the future.” One omega, named Hyerin remarked as she was putting the wooden plates to the makeshift board storage cabinet.

“I’m sorry if these stories bother you. Real or not, these are notes from my mother. If you don't want to hear, then don't listen.” Sensing the dry sarcasm on his half sister's words, Seokjin politely fought back. He will not let memories of his mother be mocked in front of him. “And these pups keep coming back to me because teachers are quite boring. Survival skills taught to children?
