She was wrapping up to leave when she noticed one of the guys that brought the boss's daughter was in pain and for good reason: the thug shows signs of internal bleeding from a ruptured spleen. He needs to be taken to a hospital for immediate treatment, and Taeyeon hollers that he’ll lose consciousness soon. No one, including the gangster, believes her until he collapses to the ground moments later. Time is of the essence, so Taeyeon and the thugs hurried to turn the place into a makeshift operating room. She readies her portable surgical supplies, then takes a deep breath before making the first incision. (Taeyeon at the hospital scene) Done with that, Taeyeon had to leave as she was called by the hospital, at times like this, the petite doctor is always the final choice, even though the doctor handling the case is the chief surgeon, no one can deny that Taeyeon is the gifted one when it comes to internal bleeding. However, the chief surgeon was embarrassed for having to seek help from a common resident, as Taeyeon expertly stopped the bleeding, the chief releases a sigh of relief when he hears the patient’s vitals begin to stabilize, Inside the operating theatre, Taeyeon orders more blood and her skills leaves the anaesthesiologist impressed. ”It's nothing to be embarrassed about Lee, every attending surgeon in this hospital has received help from Taeyeon at least once.” The director told the chief seeing his discomfort. He knows that quite well, but the fact that a third-year resident like Taeyeon has to save a senior doctor’s does nag at Chief surgeon's pride. Saving the day is exactly what Taeyeon does, as she wraps up and stays by the patient’s side in the VIP suite. She milks her achievement for all that it’s worth too, informing the family that it was lucky she wasn’t scheduled for another surgery. Next thing you can imagine is, Taeyeon counting the bills from the family’s “offering.” she gets caught by the Chief who tears her into his office, the chief asks if Taeyeon commonly extorts the patients’ families out of their money. ”I was just paid by the family out of gratitude, nothing else, it's true I saved the patient at risk.” She said confidently. The chief is offended by the insinuation, but he’s interrupted by a phone call, with a glare he puts this conversation on hold to attend to a different matter.
