When they were together it always felt like 3am. Well, to Hanbin at least. You know, that feeling when you’re with your favourite person in the world, still awake in the early hours of the morning, and it feels like you’re the only people on earth. Probably singing along to obnoxiously loud music and pissing off your neighbors, who are very aware they are not the only people on earth. Probably drinking copious volumes of cheap, instant coffee just to stay awake. But you’re content. When Hanbin was with Jiwon that’s what it felt like. Perhaps that was because their friendship had began with 3am - though it hopefully wouldn’t end with it, since their friendship would probably only end in death and it seemed like an awfully inconvenient time to die at - that it had just seemed to continue that way until meeting at that time was normal. Which was perfect for Hanbin; a lifelong insomniac who had loathed the letters ‘am’ until he met Jiwon.

Perhaps that was why he was at his best friend’s apartment at this ungodly hour, completely pissed, wearing a t-shirt and ripped jeans in the middle of winter; snow seeping in through his old Converse. Or perhaps it was just because he was a mess. Yeah, it was probably that.

When Jiwon opened the door to his best friend in this rather unflattering state, his murderous expression didn’t falter, not even when Hanbin gave him one of his sweetest smiles. (If anything it probably made him look even more punchable.) If Hanbin hadn’t been so drunk he might have realised why his friend wasn’t exactly thrilled at being woken in the middle of the night/early hours of the morning (how you class 3am depends on how jobless you are on a scale of twenty two year old barista getting in an early night so he could do his job the next morning to twenty one year old wannabe rapper/university dropout getting wasted purely out of boredom) but at that moment he barely registered his friend’s expression and invited himself in, kicking off his shoes as though he owned the place. In fact, Jiwon didn’t think anybody had been so comfortable making a mess of another person’s house as Hanbin was. The number of times he’d had to clear up after him was nearly equal to the number of times he’d felt like slapping him in the face. Okay fine, it wasn’t even close. Very few things are.

“Bin. Watch. Time. Look.” Too tired to form proper sentences, Jiwon merely lingered by the door, hopefully keeping it slightly open, blinking rapidly to keep his eyes open.

“Don’t have one.” Hanbin replied, staring mournfully at his wrist. “I wish I had one…”

At this point Jiwon gave up on sleep completely an instead turned to coffee; his lifelong saviour. “Give me strength…” He muttered as he stumbled over to the coffee machine, only now beginning to take in the state his friend was in. “For god’s sake Hanbin, it’s the middle of ing winter and you’re wearing a bloody t-shirt? I know you’ve never seen reason even when you’re sober, but are you really that stupid?” He asked flatly, boiling the kettle to make ramen because he was pretty sure Hanbin probably hadn’t eaten all day.

Hanbin looked at his arms, frowning in confusion. “I did have a coat…” And then it seemed to dawn on him, just as the kettle pinged. Meaning it took him a full two minutes to come to a revelation on the topic. “I think I left it on the bus.”

Jiwon groaned as he began to prepare the ramen. “Didn’t I tell you to stop taking the bus so late
