It was midnight already when Amber woke her up from the sleep. Krystal didn’t realize that they were already in the front gate of her house, looking around at the quiet neighborhood inside Amber’s car. She just squinted her eyes and smile when the person beside her waiting for her to sober up.

“How long was it?”

The older girl looked at her watch, “half an hour, you sure you’re not going to be late for tomorrow?”

“I’m sure my dad was really worried about me”, she bit her lips, “so yeah”

Amber leaned in to unfasten her belt, “I’m glad he would take care of you tonight”, Krystal smiled at the sincere words. Something honest that Krystal needs rather than a fake concern just like what she usually gets. 

The stone path is wet when Amber walked her to the door, not realizing a tall yet skinny figure has been watching them under his cat eyes, hiding in his favorite secret place. He watched the interaction as if the two were criminals sneaking behind his back. He is snorting so mockingly when he saw the shorter girl lean her head at the sturdy-built guy. 

It was, perhaps, a rare scene for him. So maybe, he thought, he will do something fun

While the older girl has been gripping her waist in secure, Krystal can’t help but felt sad when they finally reached the door, making her lift her head up so she can look at the concerned eyes. Her hands were shaking when she accidentally met Amber’s eyes who seen it happen. So she shoved her hands in her pockets and stalked off

“You keep saying it’s nothing, but it’s definitely getting worse”, Krystal turning her head sideways to avoid staring straight ahead

“Go in, it will be warm. I will see you later”, she nodded weakly before going in, leaving Amber staring at the door. Well, another day without a hug, she pouted and thought yet didn’t mind as she knew the younger girl probably still taking it slow

She shook her head when she turned her body, only to be surprised seeing a skinny figure has been standing behind her this whole time

“Oh look, who is this guy”

“Excuse me?”, Amber lifted her left brow when she saw the person folding his arms at his chest

“Are you her boyfriend?”, shoot, how if he is one of her admirers, she thought

“I’m just a friend of her, no need to worry”, Amber trailed off as she started to go away

“She’s into girls, I tell you, so you’re going nowhere here”, Amber is actually surprised but then she snorted amusedly

“Really?”, Amber decided to just play it off, “I was going to ask her out actually”

“Yeah, she could just reject you but I’m afraid she was just being kind”, Amber felt familiar with the way he smirked at her, that’s sure how Krystal smirked at me

She observed his body from head to toe, up close, despite the clothes that he wore, Amber knew that this is a boy that he faced right now. She noticed his pale skin and jet black hair with a mole on his left cheeks. Definitely, related to Krystal. I’m not going to lose on this battle

“But I don't mind, still will trying my luck”, she mirrored his gesture

“No can’t do”, he shrugged, “The last guy I knew courting her was ended up being friend-zoned, tragically”

Amber chuckled at how he tried to intimidate her, “she can be very affectionate to me as a friend”, she trailed, “are you one of those guys? It makes sense though, you looked too young for her, I’m afraid you’re not her taste, either”

He looked so pissed yet played it cool

“I’m Benny, her younger brother, who the hell are you”

she held her hand, “I’m Amber, nice to meet you”, she shook his hands and walked away, “I’m a girl anyway” she said before she closed the door
