Rainbows Behind the Clouds
His offer to accompany the History teacher for gate duty this morning finally pays off when he sees Joonmyeon walking towards him with August by his side. He was baffled last night when Joonmyeon walked the opposite direction of his apartment after they left the eatery and he had to follow the student when Joonmyeon didn't answer him and just kept walking until they arrived at a blue-painted house.
Joonmyeon didn't say anything and he was glad that he followed his gut to watch the student from a far when he saw August answering the door and letting Joonmyeon in. He went back home with a satisfied heart as he knew Joonmyeon has other place to stay for the night and is in good hand.
"Good morning," he says as the two friends slowly approaching him and he kind of expecting it when it is only the class representative that reply his greeting while Joonmyeon just walks pass by him. He really wants to talk to both of them more but he doesn't want to raise any suspicion since it is still early in the morning and the students are all over the place. He can only watch as the two friends getting futher away from him as they are heading to the main building to get to their classroom.
He wonders how much does August know about Joonmyeon's situation. From what he can see, the class rep is the only one that is still talking to Joonmyeon. The other students in his class are treating him like some kind of delinquent; the less interaction they have to make with him, the better. And he can't judge them by that since he is new in the school and they might have their own reasons.
And for that he is very thankful for August that hasn't abandon his distressed friend. The boy has his own circle of friends too but he is somehow always there when Joonmyeon looks like he needed someone. Not to have a long talk or anything, just, to be by his side.
Yifan purses his lips at the thought.
-----
"I hadn't see him since after lunch break." Concern is plastered all over the class representative's face and Yifan can't help making the same face too. He just wanted to see Joonmyeon before the day ends but apparently he was too late. He thanks the student and sends him off on his way, didn't bother to ask more because August wouldn't have known anyway, since Joonmyeon never tell anyone anything.
He packs his stuff, apologizing to Minseok that had invited him to have dinner with him and Luhan and he can't be thankful enough at the Math teacher for distracting Luhan from questioning his reason for bailing on them as he makes his way out the teachers' office.
Yifan reaches the familiar neighborhood and stops at a corner, feeling his heart aching when he sees a woman smoking outside of Sophia's house. Joonmyeon isn't there either, or at the bridge or the minimart. He has quit from there for good and the owner doesn't know where he went afterwards.
He turns around from Sophia's house with gritted teeth and trembling fists. He doesn't know if it is because he is angry at his student for disappearing just like that or disappointed because he thought they have something now, that he has become someone Joonmyeon could trust, but he was wrong.
Joonmyeon's school is his first school as a student teacher and that is why he doesn't have any other student that he can compare with Joonmyeon and that he couldn't get any slightest idea in dealing with this kind of a student.
And having 'this' feeling he doesn't want to admit isn't helping either.
