Park Jisoo, who will later be known as Jihyo, was quite a sensation when she first joined JYPE. News spread in the company, especially within the trainees, that a 9 years old kid had successfully become a trainee.

However, these attentions are what scared the young girl and so, her mom had taught her to write down whatever memorable happened to her during training days whether it’s upsetting, embarrassing or fun.

July 15 2005 – The Day I Met The Pretty Unnies

Today is the day I join JYPE. It’s scary, everyone is bigger than me and some of the pretty unnies tried talking to me. I wish to be as pretty as them.

Jisoo followed the female staff, with her mom by her side, holding her hand tightly as she showed them around the JYPE building. As much as Jisoo dreams of becoming a singer, it still is scary for a young girl to be in such a big company.

“And this is the training studio where the trainees mostly hang out.” The staff pointed out and smiled at the little girl. “Go in and have a look, the girls are practicing.”

Jisoo did as told, with her mom following behind her so she can slowly get used to being here alone. Upon seeing the mirror reflection of someone coming, the girls paused their song and turned around. Huge smiles grew on their face as they all gathered around Jisoo but careful to give her space so as to not scare the little girl.

“You must be Jisoo?” One of the ladies smiled. “I’m Sunye. Min Sunye, nice to meet you!”

Jisoo stared up at her. It took her a while to finally react.

“I’m Jisoo, nice to meet you unnies.” She bowed politely and that made the group of girls smiled even wider.

“Let’s be really good friends, Jisoo.”

July 30 2005 – The Day I Met Khun Oppa Whom I Like

Today I really stirred up a situation. When no one was looking, he initiated a conversation. This oppa’s name is Khun and I’m seeing him for the first time. But I was so nervous; I started to cry… like a baby. Why am I like this?

The trainees were hanging out in the studio as usual and Jisoo was standing by a side, watching them all as the oppas and unnies played around.

It’s an amusing sight for this young girl since it’s not always she get to spend her time with so many older kids. As she was watching the others intently, someone approached her.

“Hey, Jisoo right? I’m Nichkhun, you can call me Khun oppa.” His Korean pronunciation is still a little weird but Jisoo managed to understand it. She looked up and saw a handsome face smiling back at her. But it felt like a giant is staring down at her.

She got nervous.

“Jisoo?” The oppa named Khun asked again when she did not respond.

And the next thing happened before Khun could even reply. Jisoo started tearing up and eventually, she burst into tears, which made Khun really flustered.

“Jisoo, did I say something wrong?”

That’s when the other trainee started giving them their attention.

“Khun, what have you done?”

“Nothing! I was just introducing myself.”

The unnies went forward to comfort Jisoo and the unnie named Sunye hugged her gently as she looked up at Nichkhun with a teasing reprimanding look.

May 21 2006 – The Day My Exam Result Came Out

I am 10 years old now and today, I’ve gotten my exam results. I’m not happy with it. If I don’t pull my grades up, JYP will kick me out from the trainee team. Park Jisoo, fighting fighting!

“Eh Jisoo, why do you look so sad?” An unnie called Sunmi approached her, giving her a gently pat on her head.

The other oppas and unnies came forward too. Indeed, Jisoo’s like the gem in their eyes and everyone is pretty protective over her.

“My exam results came out.” Jisoo who’s already comfortable with the older ones muttered quietly, a frown forming on her forehead.

“I’m sure you did well!” Sunmi continued.

Jisoo shook her head.

“I’m scared, oppa and unnie.” She looked up at them and bit on her bottom lip before she continued. “What if I get kicked out?”

“No you won’t!” The older trainees immediately protested. No one really want to see Jisoo leave and they started fussing over her.

“But-“

“No buts, Jisoo. We will help you!”

February 5 2007 – The Day I Whacked Taecyeon Oppa

Today I think I stirred up another situation. We were in the training room again, Taecyeon oppa were testing his camera of his new phone and he was making fun of me. So, I threw my bag at him.

The training studio was once again filled with laughter as Taecyeon walked around the room with his newly bought phone.

“Oi Taec, stop showing off.” Hyuna joked, causing laughter to explode again.

“It’s been a while, let me show it off.” Taecyeon wasn’t affected and just played along.

At that moment, Jisoo walked in and Taecyeon definitely didn’t miss it. He held onto his phone and walked up to her, his phone still recording.

“Jisoo yah.” He called out but Jisoo walked away from him, trying to avoid him.

“Jisoo.” He tried again but she’s not giving in.

“Jisoo ah.”

One would think that third time’s the charm but no. Jisoo quickly turned around and threw her bag right into Taecyeon’s stomach before she ran out from the studio.

Little does she know, Taecyeon will never live this down.

As years passed, Jisoo watched her unnies debut as Wonder Girls; her oppas as 2AM and 2PM. She will always watch their stage in awe and while watching, she always wondered when will it be her turn.

In a blink of an eye, it’s already 2010. That was the year; she started building the foundation of her future group. And that was also the year, she met really great friends of her age.

And this is the introductory chapter for Jihyo. It's honestly pretty fun to write and imagine. I was inspired by what Jihyo said during Sixteen. She did have a diary and I just work around from there. The ones with Taecyeon and Nichkhun are pretty much real. But the details are kind of imagined and made up. So what do you think?

Also, I realised that Jackson joined in early 2011. Basically a few months after Nayeon, do you think it's appropriate to add him in or should I stick to the 2010 kids strictly. Though others will be mentioned throughout the story.
