Momo had been lying in Mina’s bed for about an hour now while the other girl was at her desk, working on some extra schoolwork of some sort. She offered for Momo to join her but the latter was quick to shake her head and reject the idea of doing any kind of homework. She hadn’t done any in years and she preferred to keep that streak going. Momo also wasn’t sure when would be an appropriate time to leave. Every time Mina would get up to switch the bags of frozen peas with the colder ones in the freezer, the injured girl would sit quietly and struggle to say a word. Mina had just switched out the bags and sat back at her desk, picking up her pencil.   The faint scratch of the pencil leading itself across the notebook filled up the silence in the room. There were only a few moments where either of them would make noise and it was mostly Momo clearing in hopes of catching Mina’s attention. Of course, the girl ignored it all thinking that Momo just had something in . And so, the two sat there in almost complete silence except for the sound of Mina’s pencil on paper and pages being turned every so often.   It wasn’t until about an hour and a half had gone by that Mina sighed and closed her notebook, pushing it to the corner of her desk and swinging herself around in her chair to face Momo.   “So…did you want to stay the night? No ones home anyway and you don’t seem to be in the best condition to get home on your own…” Mina trailed off softly, her gaze falling to the ground.   Momo hummed and bit her tongue to hold back the joke she almost made about the two being in Mina’s home all alone. She shook her head and opened to speak. “I should leave actually,” Momo said, ignoring the way Mina was staring at her and turning her head away to look at the door.   “Let me help you home then? I can call Jinyoung to come back and-”   Momo quickly interrupted her, “No, it’s fine. Not home, could you just call Dahyun?”   Mina exhaled loudly in defeat and nodded, reaching for her phone. “Sure.”   Then she stopped.   “I don’t have her number.”   Momo laughed and pointed towards their backpacks that were side-by-side at the end of the bed, “My phone is in the smaller pocket.”   Mina got up and grabbed Momo’s phone, quickly making the phone call to Dahyun and telling the girl her address and the best way to get there at this time. “I’ll ring you up when you get here,” She said just before hanging up.   Not much happened between the two while they waited for Dahyun. They quickly fell back into silence until Mina forced herself to ask, “Who were those guys?”   Momo looked up at the girl, her eyes showing a look of confusion, “What guys?” She said, pretending not to know what Mina was talking about.   “The ones who hurt you,” Mina spoke softly and scratched at the back of her head awkwardly.   Momo shrugged, “Just some angry guys I guess,”   Mina knew there was more to the story but she quickly dropped the issue. Until she thought of another question,   “Why didn’t you fight back?”   Momo smiled, “I didn't have to.”   The girl was about to ask what she meant by that but the ringing and vibrating of Momo’s phone on the desk made her jump up in shock before blushing profusely. Momo laughed loudly while she grabbed for the phone and told Dahyun to wait a second as she sprinted out of the room. She could still hear Momo laughing after she pressed a button on her buzzer and opened her front door to meet Dahyun at the elevator. Mina walked quickly down the hall and stopped right in front of it. Her door closed slowly and made a locking sound causing Mina to turn her head again. Then, the elevator opened and Dahyun stepped out confusedly.   “So what happened?” She asked immediately as Mina led her back to the apartment and inside.   The council president shrugged her shoulders, “Two guys beat her up but I don’t know anything else, I just found her like this.”   Dahyun nodded and followed Mina to the bedroom door that had been left wide open in Mina’s hurry. Momo was smiling at Dahyun and moved her legs to hang off the bed, one of the frozen pea bags falling off the bed in her haste. She winced in pain and then went back to smiling at her friend.   “You came for me! My saviour! She almost made me do homework.” Momo joked, eliciting an awkward laugh from Dahyun who eyed Mina anxiously.   “Right…let’s go, Jeongyeon is waiting for us downstairs. The security guy thought she was guy at first cause she had her hoodie up and wouldn’t let her come with me.”   Mina frowned, “Oh?”   Dahyun nodded slowly, scratching the back of her neck, “Yeah, I mean we don’t look like the friendliest people so he probably thought we were here to hurt you or something…”   Momo snapped her fingers, bringing the attention back to herself, “Whatever, eyes on me! Let’s go! Help me up, dimwit.”   Dahyun rolled her eyes before approaching the girl and pulling her up slowly. The bedroom was filled with sounds of Momo groaning and crying out in pain anytime they touched a bruised part of her body. Mina looked around as they were walking out of the room and quickly grabbed for the various ointments and creams she bought earlier in the evening. She gathered them back into the plastic bag and tossed in the ice pack as well before following behind the girls.   “Take these too,” She shoved them into Dahyun’s hands and explained quickly, “The one in the red box is the best one for the cut on her eyebrow and the one in the white and green box is probably better for the cut on her lip.”   “Oh and-” Mina turned around and quickly ran back to her room before returning with Momo’s backpack and blazer, “These,” She mumbled.   Dahyun smiled and took everything from Mina, thanking the girl. Momo looked between the two and made a loud noise again to bring the attention back to herself.   “Are we done? My legs are tired,” Her arm was hanging loosely off of Dahyun’s shoulder and she pulled it away to stand on her own.   Dahyun looked at Mina apologetically and gestured towards the door urging Momo to start walking towards it. Mina silently opened it and waved them away, muttering a quiet, “goodbye, and feel better” as they passed by her. She waited until they reached the elevator before sighing and closing the door.   ***   The dark circles under Mina’s eyes perfectly showed the exhaustion her body and mind was feeling after struggling to fall asleep the night before with so much on her mind. It was already Thursday and she had been up late the night before to take care of everything that had been discussed at the council’s unusually long Wednesday meeting. Tomorrow’s meeting would include all of the class representatives and be held in a larger room so that everyone could get a seat this time around. Mina was mentally preparing herself to deal with nine extra people, two of which were part of the “rebellious” circle at their school and had already proved to be a bit of a nuisance during previous meetings. She rubbed at her eyes tiredly and closed them for a moment to try and relax herself. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long because the classroom door banged open and two girls came running inside to share some kind of gossip with the rest of the class.   “You won’t believe what we just saw-”   “The most unusual couple ever-”   “I honestly wouldn’t expect them to be together in my eighteen years of living-”   Mina let out a soft sigh and looked down at her textbook, the words seeming to link themselves together in her head, making it difficult to read. It was a quick break between periods and most students found it too much of a hassle to do any work so they took to distracting themselves with their phones. Or loudly gossiping about other students.   Realizing she wasn’t going to get any reading done, Mina put her textbook away and found herself staring at her desk in defeat. Then she came up with an idea to sort out her tutoring schedule for next week and quickly pulled out her agenda.   She flipped to an empty page, the one next to it being the schedule for this week. Momo, very luckily, got a break on Tuesday as Mina felt bad that she was struggling to move around with all of her injuries. But on Wednesday they went right back into it although they decided it would be better to stay at the library so there would be less movement for the sore Momo. Today, they were also going to stay behind at the library. Mina scribbled down what she would be going over with Momo next week before deciding to put a little quiz on the Friday. Mr. Choi asked her earlier in the week to give Momo quizzes or tests so that he could evaluate her improvement throughout the tutoring sessions. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any point to this, he had told Mina.   There was the sound of a bell and students scurried into their seats just as the classroom door was pushed open and one of their teacher
