Sophisticated

Seokjin knocks once, twice, and is basically pounding the door to Hoseok’s room as he waits for a response. Scared, he calls for Taehyung. But before the butler could get there, the door clicks and with a squeak, the door slowly opens. Seokjin leans in to check, but then a face pops out through the small crack and Seokjin screams as he backs away immediately. Seokjin covers his face as he prays for his life. Amidst his whispers of forgiveness, he hears a weak cry. He hesitantly looks up to see Hoseok pouting, lack of sleep and rest obvious on his gloomy face.

“Hey, what’s the matter?” Seokjin asks warmly, Taehyung pants slightly, food in hand while wearing a pink adorable apron, completely contrasting the suit that he’s wearing.

“I can’t do it, Jin.” Hoseok says through a raspy voice. Blanket covering everything but his face. Seokjin nods and grabs Hoseok by the shoulder. He spins the younger and guides him towards his bed.

“I shall-” Taehyung offers a helping hand but Seokjin shakes his head and politely asks the butler to go back to his task, no wanting to bother him. Hoseok just lays there, the life slowly floating away from his eyes. Seokjin’s eyes widen as he takes a good look around Hoseok’s room that used to be beautiful- now turned into a dump full of balled up paper, fabrics, and half eaten rotting food. It’s barely been a week.

“I’m garbage.” Hoseok groans, as if knowing what Seokjin was thinking.

“You’re not!” Seokjin tells him, but Hoseok doesn’t believe it.

“Just put me in a dumpster!” Hoseok dramatically shrieks as he jumps out of the blanket that he’s been covering himself with. Seokjin scrunches his nose and covers it. Hoseok slouches as he walks over a messy table and grabs a bottle of half empty tequila. Seokjin furrows.

“Isn’t it too early to be drinking that?” He asks out of worry.

“It’s not too early if you haven’t slept yet.” Hoseok argues.

“Touché.” Seokjin nods. Hoseok sighs deeply after taking a sip out of the bottle. Eyes closed, allowing the burning sensation go down his throat. Seokjin grabs the bottle away from Hoseok and awkwardly smiles when he’s met with a foul gaze from the younger. “I don’t think it’s healthy to be doing that.” Seokjin informs, afraid that the habit may grow on Hoseok.

“I don’t know what to do!” Hoseok whines as he buries his face into his cold hands. A light bulb appears in Seokjin’s mind as he grabs Hoseok by the shoulders.

“You stink~ Take a bath~” Seokjin orders as he pushes the younger into his dazzling bathroom.

“I’m trash...why should I take a bath?” Hoseok pouts and Seokjin smiles.

“Because, I’m taking you out~” Seokjin winks.

After a long, warm shower, Hoseok seems to have gotten a bit different...in a weird way. He quickly browses through his magnificent closet and pulls out the plainest and dullest of all his clothes, which shocked Seokjin.

“You aren’t even…?” Seokjin gestures with his fingers as he looks at the younger and then his closet in mild confusion.

“Plain clothes help me think better.” Hoseok simply says as he shrugs and looks at himself once in the mirror before shrugging again with a very deadpan look on his face. He grabs his phone and lazily walks out of his room. Seokjin follows him with a very terrified look on his face.

“Who are you?” He whispers in fright. As if already knowing their plans, Taehyung comes out of the kitchen, with two lunch boxes in his hands, covered in Louis Vuitton handkerchiefs and gives it to the two.

“I hope master Hoseok, and master Seokjin have a safe trip.” He bows as he bids the two farewell.

“Yeah, sure....I want the room to be cleaned when I get home.” Hoseok orders, voice now stern as if he regained a bit of his dignity back.

“Then that I shall do.” Taehyung says, and the gigantic doors begin to close.

“Really? A Louis Vuitton handkerchief?” Seokjin raises a brow as he brings the lunch box up near his face. Hoseok shrugs as he opens the door to Seokjin’s car.

“What? That’s how my parents used to pack my lunch.” Hoseok informs as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. Seokjin just chuckles to himself as he gets in the car to start it.

The ride was very...unusual, only for Seokjin. It was quiet. Hoseok, quiet. Something that Seokjin would never expect to happen. He looks over towards the passenger seat and grins warmly when he sees his best friend finally getting the rest that he deserves. He pats the younger, combing his fingers through his silky hair, knowing it helps Hoseok fall asleep better. They finally reach the place that he had in mind. Hoseok is still deep in his sleep, and Seokjin feels guilty if he wakes him up now. So he allows him to rest a bit longer. “Sleep well.” Seokjin whispers as gets off his car to take pictures of the beautiful scenery laid out in front of them.

Hoseok wakes up to the sound of a camera clicking, and a flash almost blinding him.

“.” He cusses as he hides his face further into his beanie.

“Wake up, sleepy head~” Seokjin sing-songs in a teasing matter, and Hoseok wants to kick the the teasing smile off his best friend’s handsome face. Hoseok groans as he stretches his arms and legs out. He’s left speechless once he got a good look on where Seokjin just brought him. He immediately gets off the car and stretches his arms out, allowing the cool breeze of the wind dance around him. He lets his eyes flutter close, taking in as much fresh air as he can, the aroma of the flowers filling his lungs.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Seokjin questions as he leans on the hood of his car. Hoseok nods.

“Where are we?” Hoseok asks this time.

“Just outside of Seoul.” Seokjin says through a cheerful voice. Hoseok leans on the hood as well.

“Thank you.” He smiles as he looks to Seokjin. The older just shakes his head.

“Anything for my friend.” Seokjin simply says. For the first time ever, Seokjin saw a side of Hoseok that he never shows to anyone. Hoseok being unsure. He’s always confident, sure, and absolute. So for Seokjin to witness the younger like this is such a rare sight. The two just stay there as they let the sun bathe them. The moment is slightly ruined when Hoseok’s tummy grumble out in hunger.

“You just had to do it now.” Hoseok says in disappointment as he looks down on his tummy. Seokjin couldn’t help but burst out in laughter, hand slapping his knee.

“Shut up.” Hoseok retorts, but his frown is soon replaced with a smile, Seokjin’s adorable laughter affecting him.

“C’mon, let’s eat the food Taehyung made for us.” Hoseok nods as they the car so that they could eat the delicious food that his butler has made for them.

“Is there anywhere you want to go? I got all day.” Seokjin asks as he drives around the small town, looking for a good store or place to stop by.

“Nah.” Hoseok hums.

“Are you sure?” Seokjin asks again as he stops in front of a very old looking bar. Hoseok’s ear perks up when he hears music from the bar. He shrugs.

“Maybe having a few drinks wouldn’t be too bad.” Hoseok sighs as he unbuckles his seatbelt.

“I thought you were more of a club person?” Seokjin crosses his arms as he eyes the younger.

“ing hell Seokjin, do you think I’m some spoiled brat that doesn’t appreciate commoner...thingies?” Hoseok purses his lips, not able to find the proper word. Seokjin raises a brow with a know-it-all look. Hoseok just rolls his eyes as he pushes the doors open. “Wow.” Is the first word that left his mouth. It was not what he expected at all. The bar is very beautiful, the outside did not do any justice to what it looked like on the inside. It had a very warm, vintage look to it. He and Seokjin quickly take a seat on the bar stools, eyes still mesmerized by the bar’s beauty. Hoseok takes his phone out, wanting to Instagram the place. But the bartender quickly stops him.

“No phones.” He says as he points on the hanging sign next to him.

“Why not?” Hoseok asks, taken aback.

“We want people to come here on their own terms, not because someone recommended it to them.” The bartender explains. Hoseok wants to retort but stops midway. It’s genius, their policy is unique and Hoseok understands the beauty from it.

“Not bad…” Hoseok nods lightly as he whispers to himself.

“I’ve never seen you guys, you new around here?” He asks as he hands them the menu. Hoseok suddenly gasps, they’re not disguised. He looks towards Seokjin, but the older seems to be calm and unbothered as he looks the menu with great interest. He looks around and notices the lack of attention the people are giving them. So he calms down as well, knowing they’re in a safe place. Seokjin grins as he raises his hand, obviously ready to order.

“One sauteed spicy shrimp, three sets of the regular chicken wings, curly fries- Oh, and a milkshake!” Seokjin grins as he hands the menu back.

“And that’s only for you?” The bartender jokes. He turns towards Hoseok, whose mouth is agape.

“Uh, three bottles of beer and a shot of tequila...please.” Hoseok orders, eyes still focusing on a very happy Seokjin. “How are you a model?” He whispers.

“What do you mean?” Seokjin wonders.

“Aren’t you supposed to be on a diet or something?” Hoseok raises an eyebrow.

“I am on a diet. You should see how much I eat on my cheat day.” Seokjin brightens. Hoseok just shakes his head, not even surprised anymore. The two just chat, the bartender sometimes joining in their conversation when he’s not serving other customers. Once their orders have arrived, Seokjin squeals in delight, not wasting any more time and just digs in. After the first bite, he quickly groans out, like a grandpa would after having a shot of soju. “Yah, this is amazing!” He compliments. The head chef peeps out the window and gives Seokjin a thumbs up.

“We’re glad that you’re enjoying it.” The bartender smiles warmly. Hoseok is just about to asks something when a loud thud and a bunch of gasps suddenly resonated throughout the bar. A guy performing just attempted to crowd surf, only for people to back away, allowing him to land on the very hard wooden floor. The guy quickly jumps out as he raises his hands out with the rock symbol, not forgetting the stick his tongue out and shake his head like a crackhead would. The bartender laughs when he sees the judgemental look on Hoseok’s face, already assuming what he’s saying on his mind.

“Don’t worry, those people didn’t come here for them.” The bartender explains.

“Then who did they come for?” Hoseok asks, fully intrigued.

“You’ll see.” The bartender simply says. A very nervous MC comes out of the stage as he ends the performance. The security guards dragging the heavily drugged wannabe rock stars out of the bar.

“Hello everyone! We’re very sorry about what just happened.” The MC bows and the crowd rains him with “It’s alright” and “Don’t worry.” After bowing, he quickly looks up. Eyes sparkly as he announces the next band. “Guys, are you ready for...Adrift?” He grins and the crowd goes crazy as they chant the group’s name. One by one, very attractive looking people take their place on the stage, and the crowd goes wild. Hoseok slightly cringes at the fans , clearly committed to the band, while Seokjin stuffs his face, too fascinated by the feast in front of him. The guy with the guitar, the tallest of the bunch, taps the mic to check if the sounds are working properly, he nods and smiles as he inches closer to speak.

“Hello guys, we’re Adrift!” He introduces shortly, but very powerfully. Whistles, clapping, and cheering echoed throughout the bar. The guy smiles patiently, dimples showing as he waits for the noise to die down before speaking once again. “We’ll be performing a song called ‘No More Dream’. We hope you like it.” He smirks, completely putting away the sweet persona he seemed to have earlier. This time, everyone is quiet, so that Adrift could play their song immediately. A younger looking guy steps in the middle as he gently grabs the mic, bangs covering his eyes as he looks down. The spotlight dims and a heavy strum of the bass starts the beat off, and it’s quickly followed by the guitar, and then the drums. The lights start to illuminate and this time, the band is emitting nothing but charisma. Hoseok couldn’t help but bop his head to the beat. Which is unusual since Hoseok isn’t one to listen to rock. The song was already powerful enough with just the music, but then the vocalist starts to sing. He couldn’t help but let his jaw drop. He looks at Seokjin who seems to be in the same state. The piece of curly fry between his plump lips falling off, like the undergarments of the people who are listening to them right now.

“These guys are good!” Seokjin shouts and cheers along. Seeing the reaction from the people, Hoseok couldn’t help but smirk. Already having an idea in his precious mind. After the song, the crowd demanded for more, and more and more. That reaction is exactly what Hoseok needed. He just sits there as he devises a plan, while Seokjin stands at the front with crowd, chopsticks in his hands, his Gucci necktie now hanging around his forehead looking like a hardcore fan would. The vocalist sees this and gives out a shy laugh, which Seokjin finds really adorable.

“Hey mister, what time do they finish?” Hoseok leans over the counter as he asks the bartender. The man lifts up his watch and checks.

“After a song or two, why?” He clicks his tongue out of curiosity. Hoseok says nothing and hands him a card. The bartender just nods, as if already expecting what background Hoseok is, not at all surprised. He keeps the card in his pocket and points toward a back door. Hoseok turns to his right only to be surprised that Seokjin isn’t sitting next to him anymore. He looks around the crowd and immediately spots him, he definitely stands out. Hoseok sighs as he makes his way towards his best friend and grabs the back of the necktie. Causing the older to lightly snap his neck and walk backwards.

“Ow, ow, ow, ow!” Seokjin whines as soon as they stopped walking. “I was still watching them!” Seokjin pouts.

“Don’t worry, we’re here to meet them.” Hoseok sighs as he closes the door. The older brightens as he clasps his hands together in glee. Hoseok almost gasps and is ready to faint when he sees the backroom. It’s small, smaller than his bedroom. Hoseok’s eyes slightly starts to sting. “It must be hard for these commoners.” He mumbles as he pulls out his Givenchy handkerchief from his pocket and dabs away the tears of fake pity.

“You have gotta stop treating people like that.” Seokjin sighs as he fixes his necktie back into his collar. Hoseok rolls his eyes as he dusts one of chairs near the instrument cases and sits on it with a disgusted expression on his face. It doesn’t take long when he hears the door click. So he sits up, legs crossed, and shoots the person to enter a confident stare.

“That was fun!” They hear a voice shout enthusiastically.

“Yeah, but can you please calm down? You almost pushed me off the stage...again.” Another voice chimes in, gently whining to whoever almost pushed him off. The door finally opens.

“Hello there.” Hoseok says in a very confident and strong voice. Seokjin just smiles as he gives Adrift a bow. In which they politely return.

“Ah, you’re the guy earlier.” The vocalist informs in a soft voice as he shyly smiles.

“You guys are amazing!” Seokjin compliments as he makes his way towards them. The band members slightly blush, not really used to this kind of genuine interaction. Hoseok clears his voice and everyone turns to him.

“Which one of you guys is the leader?” He asks and the tallest of the bunch raises his hand.

“That would be me.” He answers in slight confusion. Hoseok pushes himself off the chair and points at the leader.

“You. I want to speak with you in private.” He commands. The leader has no choice but to follow him out of the door that leads them to the bar’s back alley.

“My name is Namjoon. Kim Namjoon.” The leader reaches his hand out as he smiles in courtesy while Hoseok just eyes the hand. He sassily grabs the tip of Namjoon’s finger and abruptly shakes it. Namjoon awkwardly pulls his hand back and keeps it in his pocket. “So, what did you want to talk about?” He questions, wanting to get things over. Hoseok walks over to the other side and stops, he quickly turns, which slightly shocks Namjoon.

“Kim Namjoon, I want to hire you guys for a job.” Namjoon nods in interest and gestures for him to continue. “I need something new, something different, something that will make people’s eyes turn. You guys seem to have that quality in you.” Namjoon smiles, feeling warmth that he and his bands are getting recognition.

“Thank you so much-” But Hoseok raises a finger, immediately stopping Namjoon from talking. “Is it a deal?” Hoseok questions and Namjoon eyes slightly widen.

“What do you mean? You haven’t even said what the job is about.” Namjoon crosses his arms and Hoseok just rolls his eyes.

“This should be enough.” He groans as he grabs at his beanie, revealing the red luscious hair that he’s been hiding. Namjoon just raises a brow and Hoseok grins.

“I know, I know. It’s not everyday I talk to a peasant like this. Go on, bask in my glory. You can even take a picture with me if you want. God, i’m such a charity today.” Hoseok smiles as he shakes his head, not believing what he’s doing right now, and Namjoon just scratches the back of his neck.

“Uh, who are you?” Namjoon asks, thinking that the bartender probably let another drunk person in the waiting room. Hoseok’s face is starting to get red from anger and embarrassment.

“What do you mean? I am Jung Hoseok, the next heir to Korea’s biggest fashion company ever!” Hoseok yells as he stomps his foot. Namjoon just nods as he slowly backs away. “Yeah, you’re drunk. I’ll just go back inside and-” Before Namjoon could reach for the handle, Hoseok takes out his wallet and throws a wad of cash in front of Namjoon. “I said, my name is Jung Hoseok, the next heir to Korea’s biggest fashion company...and I can easily buy every single one of you rats.” Hoseok informs once again. Namjoon’s eyes darken, fist clenched, knuckles turning white.

“Did you just call us, rats?” He questions through gritted teeth, chin popping out. Hoseok slightly tilts his head before breaking out in a smile and nodding. Namjoon closes his eyes and breathes out to calm himself down. He squats and picks up the money, and Hoseok looks down on him with a satisfied look on his face. Once Namjoon finished picking the money up, he wastes no time and shoves it back into Hoseok’s chest, which causes the smaller to stumble back a little. Hoseok’s eyes widen in genuine surprise. “Thank you for thinking of hiring us, but we’re good.” Namjoon says coldly. He walks back and Hoseok shouts after him.

“Why not? Is this not enough for you? I can pay you more.” Hoseok scoffs and Namjoon looks him in the eyes with a very sad genuine smile.

“Mr. Jung, why can’t you just accept that not everyone is obsessed with money?” Namjoon asks in sympathy, feeling bad that a person like Hoseok actually exists and thinks that way. “We don’t get much on what we do, but we like what we’re doing and we’re happy with what we’re doing...can’t you just accept that some people in this world aren’t always thinking about being rich?” Namjoon asks and Hoseok just stands there, completely stunned. “Goodbye Mr. Jung and have a goodnight.” Namjoon gives him a small bow and finally enters their waiting room.

Namjoon enters to a very warm and happy atmosphere. Quite the opposite to what he just experienced. The three youngest are sitting down on the floor, snacks in their hands as they listen to a story that guy with Hoseok is telling them. While their drummer just lays on the couch, headphones blocking his ears as he looks at the beautiful guy through tired eyes. The handsome stranger notices Namjoon and quickly smiles.

“Hey! How did it go?” He asks and Namjoon is puzzled. How can someone like this be friends with the evil tyrant that is Jung Hoseok? Namjoon just sighs as he massages his nape.

“You might want to check on him, I don’t think he’s handling it well.” Namjoon simply says and the guys face turned a bit sad. He looks at the three on the floor and gives them a small smile.

“Hey guys, I think I have to go now.” He informs and the three whine. Not wanting to part.

“Can you tell us the story next time?” Their bassist asks innocently and the guy just nods, not sure of the chances of them meeting ever again. He gives them all a wave and leaves the room.

“Man, Mr. Seokjin is so amazing!” Their second guitarist says in glee as he stretches his arm out and leans back to rest on it.

“Hey! He told us to call him Jin.” Their bassist adds.

“He’s really funny.” Their vocalist joins in as he laughs. Namjoon just shakes his head and gives the three a ruffle on their heads.

“C’mon guys, time to pack up.” Namjoon announces as he claps his hands. The oldest of them all, their drummer, groans as he mumbles a swear, but still stands up and does what they’re told. Even though everyone is loud and talking nonsense, Namjoon drowns their voices out in deep thought. He knows who the guy is, he knows who Jung Hoseok is. Who doesn’t? Being scouted by someone as powerful as Hoseok is like a dream come true. But Namjoon hates people like them. People who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. They are selfish people who don’t understand the pain and suffering of others, and his interaction with Jung Hoseok proves that. He feels his hands tightening around the handle of his guitar case, but a tap on his back thankfully stops him from crushing the piece in his tight grip.

“Hey Namjoon, you guys can go ahead in the van, I just need to get something.” Their drummer informs him. Namjoon just nods, still deep in his thoughts.

“I want to sue him...I’m going to ing sue him!” Hoseok growls and Seokjin doesn’t comfort him this time and justs shakes his head.

“I can’t help but think you deserved it.” Seokjin scolds him and Hoseok turns to him, face red.

“You’re supposed to be on my side!” Hoseok whines and Seokjin just sighs.

“I am, but it doesn’t change the fact that you could be such an sometimes.” Seokjin retorts. Hoseok just scowls as he opens the door to Seokjin’s door, so strong that he could have ripped the door right open. But a voice stops him.

“Hey! Rich boy!” They both turn to a running figure, his blond bleached hair bouncing along. Once he got to them, he stops and leans down to catch a breath.

“What do you want? Didn’t your leader turn us down?” Hoseok raises a brow as he crosses his arms together. He gives the drummer a look up and down and snorts. The drummer scowls, already knowing what Hoseok’s look meant. But Seokjin hits the younger’s shoulder and bows in his stead.

“I am very sorry about him.” Seokjin apologizes. The drummer returns the bow, internally grateful for Seokjin’s kind gesture.

“It’s alright...and he turned you down, not us.” The drummer responds and Hoseok just hums as he shakes his head in a very mocking matter.

“Hmm...So what do you mean?” Hoseok shrugs as he waits for an answer.

“Namjoon is our leader, I respect his beliefs and decisions…” The drummer seems guilty of what he’s about to do as he bites on his lips, hands clenching on either side of his of his pants. Hoseok gestures for him to continue, a triumphant smile on his sly face. “But we’re broke, we need the money, okay? Try feeding three bottomless pits- Just, please. Would you reconsider and hire us? We could use the boost.” The drummer almost breaks down as he thinks about his his very skinny wallet and Hoseok could already see the doom in the leader’s face when he sees them again.

“Fine, here’s my card, the address is at the bottom.” Hoseok grins as he hands the drummer his personal business card. The drummer flashes a gummy smile and thanks Hoseok. He bows and runs back to the bar.

“Hey drummer! What’s your name?” Hoseok calls him before he could get any further.

“Yoongi. Min Yoongi.” Hoseok just nods and Yoongi waves goodbye in excitement.

“He’s cute.” Seokjin giggles as he watches Yoongi’s blond hair bounce as he skips towards the bar.

“What took you so long?” Their second guitarist complains as he sits on one of the amplifiers.

“Jimin! Get off!” Their bassist shouts as she runs and dropkicks Jimin of their amplifier, which causes another war within the youngest members. Namjoon sighs and asks their vocalist to stop the two, not bothering to get involved in anymore idiocy.

“Hey guys! Namjoon wants you guys to stop, and jaein, stop kicking him!” Their vocalist whines, his shy demeanor already gone.

“Shut up Jungkook, you’re not part of this!” Jaein shouts back, in which Jimin agrees with. Jungkook feels a vein popping out of his temple as he rolls the sleeve of his hoodie back, showing the terrifying muscles that he didn’t seem to have.

“We’re sorry.” The two immediately apologize as they sit like children that are getting scolded. Jungkook nods, satisfied as he rolls his sleeves back.

Namjoon walks towards the older and notices the card in his hand. “What’s that?” Namjoon points and asks.

“I got us a gig.” Yoongi quickly announces, getting the attention of the three idiots.

“Really? Where?” Jungkook brightens as he smiles.

“C’mon, let’s get everything in the van first, then I’ll explain.” Yoongi grins.
