Carry Love's Burden

The one whose scent you linger for,

The one whose face you desire to see at every waking moment,

The one whose name you softly whisper under your breath unknowingly,

The one whose smile you cherish the most,

The one whose voice makes your heart flutter,

The one who holds your heart in the palm of their hands,

That person is not me.

So here I stand, watching your love develop into something I can no longer be a part of. Standing still as I witness a world that is no longer with me.  I am green with envy, jealousy spurting through every follicle of my being, yet I stand still because I am in no place to tell you anything.

Let me hold our love dear to myself alone. You’ve no obligation to return any feelings to me and I do not expect anything from you.

Erase my name from your heart,

Let my scent drift away from you,

Remove my face from your memories,

I will hold onto this love we had, and alone I will carry its burden.
