Trrrring...Trrrring...Trrrrringgggg.....

The phone alarm had gone off for the third time now. Finally canceling it, I got up and pulled the curtains, to be greeted by a very bright morning and the nearby residential towers. Below I could hear the faint noise of kids playing- it was a Saturday- and the even distant noise of some event happening nearby.

'Time to make breakfast'. Stretching myself I headed out where I was stunned to see Ray play by himself on the sofa.

"Ray! Good morning dear" as I picked him up for a bear hug, "When did you get up? You should have gotten mommy up too, dear."

"Good morning mom!!" Hugging and giving me a kiss back, he slid out of my arms and took me to the washroom." You seemed tired and its your holiday too! So I did not wake you up."

Ah, this child and his EQ was going to kill me with kindness. Brushing our teeths and getting done with our morning chores, I headed to make some quick breakfast.

"What do you want to eat Ray?", calling out to Ray who'd already gone back to playing with his Lego blocks.

"Mom you promised french toast today! So we did not have it yesterday, remember?" He came up to me and sat on the dining table across the island counter. It was an open kitchen, so the island served as the only partition between the kitchen and the living area. 

"Oh yes dear! Lets see...." I stared opening the cupboards for the ingredients when I realized we were out of the basics. 'Hmmm, he wont be happy if I say no,' I thought to myself looking up at the clock. It was only 9.30 in the morning, maybe I could head out to the local store and quickly grab eggs and bread and do the complete shopping in the afternoon with Ray. Quickly deciding on this, I picked up Ray and sat him down on the sofa. 

"Ray, mom will go down and get some eggs and bread, do you want to come along or can you stay here for half an hour, before I come back?" It was hard leaving a (soon to be) 4 year old alone, but I'd made sure to install proper security via the devices and app that the Unnies told me about. 

"Sure Mom!! As long as we have French Toast" He shouted excitedly raising his hand in the air and smiling with puppy eyes.

"Ok then!" Changing out of my pyjamas and grabbing a long thin coat over my clothes, I took my phone making sure that it was connected with the security system, my wallet (with enough cash). I kissed Ray and asked him not to go anywhere near the kitchen. Placing water and towels on the table, I took the keys, locked the door and headed out aiming to return as soon as possible.
