The next day, Ray and I had a late morning. It was still the weekend and as I was prepping for a leisurely brunch, Ray ran about the house commenting on what each corner would be used for. His imagination never dried up nor did his enthusiasm. Talking about enthusiasm, I remembered our new neighbour, Kim Dong Jun. His excitedness was exactly how Jihyo unnie had told me about.  Lost in thoughts about the house and neighbour and things to do in the coming week...

Ding Dong... The bell broke my never ending chain of thoughts as I raced Ray to the door in a friendly match of 'who comes first'...(obviously him, but I'd get to open the door :) while he ran away)

Peeping through the eye hole I saw it was Dong Jun ssi.

"Noona!!!! joh-eun achim...I came by in the morning but you seemed to not have heard the bell.." as he handed me a packet of small colored dough like balls.

"Ah.. Don jun ssi..." before I could continue..

"Ahhhh ee noona! Chincha!!! I told you to call me informally right!! Please dont make me look as the one who is wrong if I keep talking to you banamaly and you dont! By the way something smells nice...." he pointed towards the house.

"OH....please come in....Sorry I should have invited you in... Ray and I were going to have a late breakfast, almost brunch you know. Dong jun ssi...ahhh no sorry" as I looked to him glaring at me, I continued slowly " Dong jun-ah would you like to join us for  some food, if you haven't had any?"

"Ahhhhh de!!!" He almost shrieked and continued..."By the way that is sweet rice cake called sirutteok, which is traditional in our customs to give when we move into a new house...so..." he noticed I was looking at the box he just gave me..." I hope you like it."

"Samchonnnnnnn..." Ray was still running around when he saw Dong Jun, who quickly picked him up and gave him an airplane ride on his belly. The two seemed like kids the same age, in the way they played. Well, I thought it, might not be bad at all to have a celebrity as a neighbour after all. 

"C'mmon Ray, food is ready. Bring your uncle too!!" As the two joined in on the table, we said our thanks, served each other and started. It was fun to have someone else on the table, Ray was eating his share too without being too fussy.

At the end of the meal, while clearing up, Dong Jun came over and started helping out..."Its ok Dong Jun-ah you can go and sit,I'd be done in a minute anyways."

"Noona its fine, I almost came in uninvited and yet you treated me to such a lavish spread. I should help out someway. Honestly I was planning to eat those rice cakes only for lunch as I did not want to go out..." he smilingly admitted.
