Seven Days of Breathtaking

It was a hot Sunday in the fourth week of July, when Jungwoo got called for breakfast by his parents right after Jaehyun was trespassing his bedroom. The cousin who was a year older than him, lived just a couple blocks away, as he was Jungwoo’s only best friend— if someone can identify their own related blood such as that— and probably planning the whole day the same as the younger. By means, spending time only inside the house, playing with game console, or reading Jungwoo’s endless manga collection. No wonder why those boys’ skin was still so pale even at summer.

“Don’t you have somewhere else to go, hyung?” Jungwoo reached on the bedside table to find his glasses. As he put it on by now, Jaehyun threw his backpack and once again, the younger’s sight has getting blurred.

“Well, do you?”

He saw the older putting his hands to the hips, wandering to search of the clock, showing it was nine already.

“I’m gonna be with you and uncle and auntie, but first thing first…”

Jaehyun rushed to the bathroom as Jungwoo rubbed his sleepy eyes and suddenly remembered what day it was.

It was the third year of Jungwoo’s father preparing their house for homestay of foreign student. His old man was a professor in one of the most renowned universities, which frequently did the program to select their future enrollments.

The first student came two years ago, named Johnny Seo. A Korean-American who lived in Chicago; very tall, good-looking and well-built, yet completely a womanizer. In fact, Jungwoo had secret crush on him— duh, because who wouldn’t— but, he had gotten over in three days. Just the same amount as how many girls whose Johnny secretly sneaked into their guest bedroom by the first week. However, Johnny was a good person by nature since he and Jungwoo stayed friends throughout the years, as per once in two months they normally did video calls with an addition of his own cousin. The taller older didn’t manage to get into the university at Seoul, whereas he joined one of the best schools in the Illinois state.

A year ago, another student stayed for a month in Jungwoo’s house and it was Jaehyun’s turn to be head over heels toward that certain someone. His name was Dong Sicheng, with a strong request to be called WinWin. Even up till now, Jungwoo didn’t know what the correlation between his real name and what he wished to be referred as. WinWin was an art student from Beijing. He was handsome— Jungwoo once questioned what method his father chose to bring these naturally blessed creatures into their house— as tall as Jaehyun, but maybe his skinny figure made him appeared taller than he really was sometimes. Compared to Johnny, WinWin’s broken Korean was the first thing that made Jaehyun never regretted of his habit coming to Jungwoo’s house on every weekend. He benefited the cause to teach WinWin Korean, in which he had fallen for his cuteness day by day. This year, the Chinese guy would be enrolling to the Seoul university— and as everyone shouldn’t bother to ask— because that as well what Jaehyun did.

Jungwoo would endure a year to go, to decide where he wanted to register and until this second, he really had no idea where and why though.

The sound of Jaehyun’s chuckle while fiddling with his phone, caused Jungwoo got even more bored for the nth time while reading the arrival board. The weather was so hot even Jungwoo had to release his ed flannel, revealing only a white sleeveless top that exposed more of his pale skin.

“WinWin hyung?” he probed Jaehyun as he attempted to peek on their chatroom.

“No.” Jaehyun responded after swallowing the rest of lollipop he consumed all the way from Jungwoo’s house. “It’s my boyfriend,”

Jungwoo might have missed some information, but he doubted when Jaehyun didn’t share the entire breakup story. “And your boyfriend name is?”

“Dong Sicheng.”

Jaehyun replied fast before giggling like a teenage girl in love with a particular person through the conversation. Jungwoo rolled his eyes because he shouldn’t have bothered to ask and wasted a precious minute of his life for such silly stuff Jaehyun loved to cause.

Another question came from Jungwoo since he had no one else to talk to while waiting for his father’s future scholar. “When he starts moving here?”

“Eleven days from now.”

Jaehyun was such a trash when it came to his relationship with WinWin. Jungwoo had bear in mind he’d never be too madly fallen toward someone— well, if only Jungwoo had ever been in one real relationship to know what it really means that maybe he would reconsider about the matter.

“Oh, right.” Jaehyun pocketed his phone to his shorts as he tapped Jungwoo’s shoulder. “It’ll be the first anniversary with my Winnie two weeks from now,”

Jungwoo raised an eyebrow. “What anniversary?”

“You really want to know?”

Jaehyun threw him a devilish grin as Jungwoo responded with much clearer question mark outside his naïve countenance.

“The first anniversary after he accepted me as his boyfriend…”

Okay this is normal.

“Then, I finally lean in for our first kiss…”

Alright, that possibly the standard procedure—

“After kissing Winnie, because oh, God! His lips are so plumpy and sweet—”

Why did I even ask him—

“And I can’t help it that we ended up having our first love-making session—”

“Okay, hyung stop!” Jungwoo raised a palm upon Jaehyun’s nose. Having his ears becoming red, he should’ve known better that this kind of talk would always bothered him at the end. Jungwoo was an infamous — not only when it comes of ual , in addition of he never been in a relationship before— and his cousin was the only one who exactly knew.

Jaehyun was still laughing at Jungwoo’s crimson face when he sensed someone was standing in arrears as that someone as well, tapped his uncovered arm and left him such warm feeling.

“Excuse me, Kim Jungwoo?”

The called boy turned around and find the source of deep voice, which he sensed like a pleasing jazz bass melody. Jungwoo would love this to be the lullaby in every night of his. Least to say— the voice had given such quake in Jungwoo’s little earth and if he had to describe about what he had seeing right now— Jungwoo was a beautiful boy himself, but this person’s beauty deserved to be defined as breathtaking.

“I’m the homestay student—”

Jaehyun elbowed his younger cousin for a couple times already, to have him back from the current trance he was in. The other they’re meeting was surprisingly taller than both— as with Jungwoo’s father narrative was coming from Hong Kong— had big-mesmerizing-eyes and tanned skin.

“—Lucas.”

Never did Jungwoo caught a foreign name and he didn’t feel unknown at all. Maybe because he liked this one so much as he hesitated to respond and shake his hand.

“Just call me Jungwoo.”

He shook back and sounded a bit unfriendly to someone he just met. Thankfully, Jaehyun was much better person to react at this, as he nicely introduced himself to Lucas.

“I’m Jaehyun and I’m assuming you are in the same age as Jungwoo?”

Lucas glanced at the mentioned boy, who had a deep frown toward Jaehyun.

In which the tallest guy shrugged. “Well, maybe… If he was born in the year of Tiger—”
