Bad LuckWait, what the hell are you thinking? Have you lost your mind? Have you lost your dignity? Chanyeol internally smacked himself at the thought.
“Wait, don’t go anywhere,” he broke the silence, getting rid of his own thoughts. He got up and runs to his room, Joohyun only stared at him without saying anything.
A few minutes later Chanyeol came back, having some clothes in his hands, a grey sweater and long black trunks, the only clothes the laundry sent this morning. “I think you’d better be wearing this, I don’t want you to get cold only by wearing towel.” A strain of blush coloured his face.
Chanyeol then let the girl dress up in his room after he cleaned it beforehand. Five minutes later Joohyun walked out of the room, showing up in front of him. She now literally looked like a barbie in an oversized outfit. She had to roll the sleeves up six times so that her hands would show and five times for the trunks so that her feet could step on the floor. She looked a thousand times more adorable in Chanyeol’s eyes.
“You’re so cute,” he couldn’t help but whisper.
“Excuse me?” but too bad, the girl heard that.
Chanyeol quickly slammed his lips tight, shaking his head. The girl went back to the couch to drink her hot chocolate. Chanyeol walked backwards, he couldn’t keep up with the awkward and anger atmosphere. He went to the living room where a set of instruments are neatly placed. He took a seat on the piano chair before starting to play his band’s new song. He had no idea what to do so he would just practice.
“Deoneun mangseoriji ma jebal nae simjangeul geodueo ga
Geurae nalkaroulsurok joha dalbit jochado nuneul gameun bam…”
Joohyun’s ears caught the marvellous melodic sound. She went up and explored Chanyeol’s apartment, finding the guy playing a piano, letting his fingers dance. She looked around the room that looked more like a studio than an apartment. She now figured out where all the craziness was coming from.
“…Baby don’t cry tonight eodumi geochigo namyeon
Baby don’t cry tonight eobseotdeon iri doel geoya
Mulgeopumi doeneun geoseun nega aniya kkeutnae mollaya haetdeon
So baby don’t cry cry nae sarangi neol jikil teni…”
“That’s a beautiful song,” Joohyun commented, clapping her hands.
“Oh, you startled me,” Chanyeol turned his body around to see Joohyun walking closer to him.
“Is that your own song? What’s the title?” she pressed the ‘do’ note.
“It’s our song, actually,” Chanyeol corrected. “It’s titled Baby Don’t Cry.”
“Oh, yeah, right, The Next Beetles,” Joohyun couldn’t help but let out a short giggle every time she mentioned the lame name.
Chanyeol had this expression of ‘how do you know that?’ but he still didn’t dare to ask so he only chuckled.
“Can you play one of The Beatles songs?” Joohyun suddenly asked, lifting her chin to face the latter, finally. “Since your band name is The Next Beetles, you have to at least be able to play one of their songs.”
“Yes, I can play some of their songs,” Chanyeol nodded, grabbing a chair for her to take a seat beside him. “Anyway, we still haven’t officially gone with the name The Next Beetles, we’re still thinking about the name.”
Joohyun laughed again at the name, “pfft, please change it. It’s so lame,” she took a seat he offered, “which songs can you play?”
“Um, She Loves You, Love Me Do, Ticket to R–”
“What about Here Comes The Sun? Let It Be? Or Hey Jude, maybe?”
“I can play Hey Jude,” Chanyeol quickly replied.
“Okay, please sing me Hey Jude,” Joohyun placed her elbows on the piano, resting her chin on the palms. “But please change the Jude to Joo, so Hey Joo.”
Chanyeol nodded, doing as he was told, starting the first note.
“Hey Joo, don’t make it bad, take a sad song and make it better,
Remember to let her into your heart, then you can start to make it better....”
Joohyun shut her eyes closed, letting her mind think about her father who was a big fan of The Beatles and would sing this song every time she was feeling sad. She let herself be intoxicated by Chanyeol’s singing in a pure Korean accent that she thought was cute. Despite his deep voice that didn’t fit the original one, Chanyeol definitely knew how to get into this song in his own version. Joohyun had to admit that this was probably the best cover version of Hey Jude.
“Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Hey Joo...”
Before Chanyeol ended the song, Joohyun suddenly sniffled with her muffled lips, “I missed my father.” Chanyeol stopped singing.
For a second he really had no idea what to do, but the other part of him insisted to hug her
