Of Shots and Secrets
Kyuwook Drabble Collection“Kyu, are you drunk right now?”
I strained to hear an answer and sighed in frustration when I could only make out a series of muffled sounds.
“Yah!” I yelled, more annoyed than ever.
There was more shuffling on the other end of the line, and finally I was greeted by my friend.
“Oh, Wook? Why are you calling?”
I rolled my eyes and contemplated just hanging up. However, I decided I would be a good hyung and pointed out patiently,
“You called me, Kyuhyun.”
“Oh , you’re right!” he exclaimed, the realization sending him into a fit of giggles.
“Jesus, how much did you have to drink? You know what, I don’t care. Just tell me where you are.”
“I…I don’t actually know. But it’s loud! Let me call you back later!”
With that, the line went dead.
I cursed and quickly fiddled with my phone, using it to track his location. I wasn’t surprised to see that he was smack dab in the middle of Seoul’s club district.
“He doesn’t even like clubbing” I muttered under my breath, grabbing my keys off the kitchen counter. I was slipping on my shoes when Eunhyuk emerged from his room.
“You heading out, Wook? This is pretty late for you.”
“Sorry hyung; Kyu just called and he’s drunk as hell. He’s at some club so I’m gonna go pick him up.”
“Do you need me to go with you?” he asked, his eyes filling with concern.
I smiled and assured him it was fine. He still looked a little worried, but he was happy to let me go. I didn’t even blame him. Kyuhyun was bad enough when he was sober, but he was an absolute terror when he’d been drinking. I wished for the third time that night that he had called anyone other than me.
I drove carefully as I maneuvered through the crowded streets. Even in the dead of night Seoul seemed alive and buzzing with energy. Before long, the streets filled with people dressed in flashy clothes, and I knew I was close. I quickly parked and started walking towards the biggest of the nearby nightclubs. Before long I could hear steady thump of the bass and it hurried me along.
I made my way to the entrance of the club, feeling out of place in my sweats and oversized sweater. Luckily, the bouncer recognized me and he quickly ushered me inside. I thanked him gratefully and asked if I could speak to management. He grunted in acknowledgment and asked me to wait. In a few moments a well-dressed man approached me and bowed politely.
“Hello Ryeowook-sshi, it’s a pleasure to have you here.”
I nodded impatiently and quickly asked,
“I’m sorry, but are there other Super Junior members here?”
His eyes lit up in understanding and he asked,
“Do you mean Kyuhyun-sshi?”
I nodded again, finally smiling in relief.
“He’s in the V.I.P. section, allow me to you.”
I followed after the man as he led me to the back of the club. We went up a nondescript flight of stairs before entering a dimly lit hallway. We eventually arrived at a heavily guarded black door and the burly security guards stepped away as we approached. My guide bowed and bid me to enjoy myself, I bowed slightly in gratitude before pushing the door open.
Instantly, my ears were assaulted with the loud, pumping music. I winced and paused at the door, waiting to adjust to the flashing strobe lights.
When I could finally make out my surroundings, I could see the V.I.P. room was essentially a smaller, more luxurious version of the main club. It had its own bar, DJ, and dance floor. Luckily, this room was far less crowded and I could easily pick out my friend seated in the back with a group of people.
As I approached, I recognized Changmin and Minho, both talking to the beautiful women that hovered around their table. I held back a smile when I saw a very tipsy looking Kyuhyun laying across Suho’s lap. When I made my way to the table, Suho was the first to see me and he immediately looked relieved.
“Ryeowook-sunbaenim!”
“It’s okay Joonmyun, you can just call me hyung.” I smiled at the young singer encouragingly before directing my attention to my bandmate who had yet to register my presence.
“Kyu, get off your dongsaeng.” At the sound of my voice, he tried to sit up too quickly, knocking his head on the table in the process.
I stifled a laugh, but Changmin and Minho burst out in boisterous laughter. Kyuhyun whined in the back of his throat, and Suho looked concerned.
“When did you get here, hyung?” Minho asked, coming around to my side of the table and throwing his arm around me in a friendly manner.
“Just a few moments ago” I replied, “Kyu called me earlier and I thought he sounded too drunk for his own good.”
This time Changmin responded looking at his frie
