I smiled at my friend apologetically,
“I know, I’m sorry.”
He huffed,
“Don’t apologize to me, I don’t want you to feel bad about it. I just…”
“Just what, hyung?” I asked wearily, already knowing where this was going.
“I don’t know! Get angry at him! Scream at him; slap him. Just anything—anything is better than this.”
I smiled sadly and shook my head. He didn’t understand; no one did.
“Hyung, you should leave. Kyu will be back soon and you know how he gets when he sees us together.”
“What? He’ll be back soon from ing one of his ? How sweet, at least he comes back home to you.”
I closed my eyes at his acidic words and I listened as he grabbed his jacket. My hyung really did hate Kyuhyun. He always did his best to avoid him when he could.
I walked him to the door and waited as he slipped on his shoes. Before he turned to go, he enveloped me in a warm hug and I let myself relax for the first time in what seemed like years. His hold on me tightened and he murmured,
“Just say the word, Ryeowook. Just say the word and I’ll be there.”
I smiled and nodded against his chest, finally pushing away after a long moment.
“Go, hyung. He’ll be here soon.”
He nodded in resignation and finally left, the door closing softly behind him. I let out a measured breath and steeled my ne
