EPILOGUE

Strings Cut

Bulletproof Designs is as colorful as it was the first time Minseok entered, sick and sad and angry at his soulmate, but this time is different. Minseok isn’t sick anymore, or sad. His soulmate is beside him, staring at the tattoo designs on the walls. The air smells like peanut butter cookies.

Namjoon ambles up with a plate. “They’re fresh from the oven. Reese’s chocolate chip, Jin’s favorite. You guys want one?”

Chanyeol shakes his head, but Minseok takes one, remembering regretting his choice to just drink water that first time. It’s delicious. The chocolate melts in his mouth.

“Namjoon,” someone groans, “you gotta stop offering people cookies. This is a tattoo parlor, not a bakery. We have a health code to uphold.” Jungkook pokes his head around his partition, clearly the one who’d just spoken. He grins when he notices Minseok. “Hey man, didn’t think we’d see you again. Totally surprised me to see your name on the schedule. Gimme a sec and I’ll be right out. I’m just setting up.”

“Yeah sure,” Namjoon shoots back, eyes crinkling with mirth, “like you weren’t ing around on your phone back there. I know you Jeon, remember? At least I acknowledged out customers.”

Jungkook laughs and comes to join them. He snakes his hand up Namjoon’s back, fingers coming to rest against the beautifully calligraphed “k” of Jeon Jungkook on Namjoon’s neck. On his own neck, Namjoon’s name is surrounded by hundreds of tiny tattooed sunflowers.

“Sure you acknowledged them. Now acknowledge the health code. No cookies near the needles, hmm?” Jungkook focuses his attention back on Minseok. “Anyway, what can I do for you today? And who’s this tall guy next to you? He’s clearly not the tall guy from last time. Do you just switch them out? Put them on a rotating schedule?”

It’s clearly a joke, but Minseok feels Chanyeol shift at his side. He reaches out, catching Chanyeol’s hand in his and squeezing. “This is Chanyeol,” Minseok smiles. “He’s my soulmate. I’m here to get his name tattooed.”

Jungkook pauses, confusion flickering across his features. Namjoon returns in the silence, having disappeared in the back to put away the cookies. Jungkook coughs. “Correct me if I’m wrong,” he says, “but is this the soulmate that rejected you and then you almost died?” Chanyeol stiffens at his side, and Minseok squeezes his hand again, willing him to relax.

“That’s him,” Minseok replies. “But he’s very sorry, and we’ve worked it out now. Besides. I’m in love with him, and I’d very much like his name to be on my skin again.”

“I am,” Chanyeol echoes. “Rejecting him was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done, and I’m still amazed that he’s willing to give me the time of day. I’ll never hurt him again.”

Namjoon tuts at that, a soft smile on his face. “You’ll hurt him,” he admonishes. “Hell, the people we hurt most are the people who love us. What matters is that you’ll own up to it when it happens and break your back to make it better.” He schools his face into an over-exaggerated judgmental frown. “Though I have to admit, that you pulled, rejecting him? Not cool. If you weren’t obviously reformed, I’d punch you.”

“Simmer Joon,” Jungkook admonishes, placing a calming hand on his elbow. “I’m sure he’s sorry.” Jungkook nails Chanyeol with a chilling glare. “If he wasn’t, we’d kill him.”

Chanyeol grows even more rigid, turning to all but ice against Minseok. The room sits in uneasy silence. And then Jungkook laughs, loud and long, joined quickly by Namjoon.

“Sorry man, I’m just ing with you. You should have seen your face.” He grins, gesturing for them to follow him. “Come one back. I’m all set up for you guys. We’ll get his name back on your skin, promise.”

woot woot epilogue!!!! because you know I wasn't about to leave that blackout tattoo there forever.

Also I lied a little in my afterword last chapter. There is a sequel in the works (and when I say that I mean that I have the stories outlined, but that's it) except actually there's two sequels in the works, and I can't write them at the same time, so let me know what you'd rather read in the poll below (i hope it works but if it doesn't load or you can't find it shoot me a message and I'll fix it)! Once it's decided, it'll be announced in a new chapter, just like this story was in Strings Attached ^^

Option A: Strings Tangled

Sehun/Luhan, who you may remember from Strings Attached. Luhan knows who his soulmate is, and he loves him, but Sehun's never heard Luhan's full name, and he's still in love with someone else. Can they ever get together?

Option B: Strings Tied

Yifan(aka the best bro)/Tao, Yifan is tired of constantly dealing with his friends' soulmate drama, yet never having any of his own. Untill he starts talking to Tao, a facinating man who lives in China, who seems to hate everything that soulmates represent. But what happens when Yifan realizes that Tao, a member of the blackout movement, is his soulmate?

Chapter 9: I just loved reading this one.

You know there are many exo stories in which if a partner does some , big , not small, the other one easily forgives. Like what the on earth.

I think I have read quite a few stories in which such things happened (forgiving quickly).

I really don't know how those exol authors write such things, I mean just wait a little and then patch up the characters, why you gotta patch up them so soon??? It ain't relatable and I am sure such things does not happen in real, that's why I was annoyed by such stories.

And that is why I loved this one, Xiumin put himself priority. His self love was more, which should be. And the way Chanyeol approached him afterwards was also good.

It was a nice read. You writing was wonderful even though there were some mistakes in b/w.

And Yes Chanyeol SHOULD BE BOTHERED by Xiumin in suit, plzzzz. 😂

Chapter 9: This is the first time I’ve read XiuYeol FF and I vant believe the angst already. Grrrrr! I feel bad when Minseok got rejected and sick and all. But glad they’ve worked it all out after all those pain. Oh and Yifan! I am so proud of him for being there for Minseok! Thanks for sharing this.

Chapter 9: aaaaw, im doing this the wrong way, i know, but minseok's my exo bias and xiuyeol is cute so uwu your writing style is wonderful as always, i mean, i could continue raining praises but you already know that ; - ; read the story at once and i just really liked it, chanyeol's character development is amazing and so is minseok's. the best part of the story was the awkward second chance, idk, there's just something about knowing you have feelings and also know you have to step carefully so as to not hurt the other person further - taking things slow and only falling deeper. ; _ ; and i laughed at chanyeol, getting all hot and bothered by minseok in a suit. oh, mr. park, you're not alone in that fantasy, lmao. this was just so sweet and i really enjoyed reading it! im glad i read it! now i can go be jealous i don't have a relationship myself. (tho admittedly, i'd rather not have to almost die first before my happy ending....)

Chapter 9: Yaaaay, Chanyeol's name is back on Minseok!! :D It was great to have Namjoon and Jungkook return again for this monumental moment, and them having a go at Chanyeol was hilarious. XD Chanyeol had it coming, so I don't feel too bad for him, especially since he's happily together with Minseok now. :')

Lovely ending to another great tale and I'm very excited for both sequels! I cast a vote for Strings Tied, since BEST BRO YIFAN NEEDS HIS HAPPY ENDING TOO!! :)

Chapter 8: This chapter was so so so cute and their awkwardness was so endearing after knowing what they've been through to get to this point. :') Even though Yifan seems like a grump, having been in his position before where a close friend of mine was really hurt by her boyfriend when he suddenly broke up with her, I completely understand his wariness and how reluctant he sounds when Minseok is gradually falling for Chanyeol again. You don't want your friend to get hurt a second time, knowing how much pain they were in the first time.

But it was nice to see that Chanyeol was genuinely doing his best to make up for how rashly and rudely he acted in the past, and it was sweet of him to go through so much effort to make the date as perfect as possible for Minseok. Just off of his choices alone, you could tell how nervous Chanyeol was about the whole thing, and Junmyeon and Minseok's comments about the sushi restaurant were great. XD Chanyeol definitely didn't think it through all the way. :') But I loved every bit of the date and the fluff was definitely super heartwarming! ^^

Minseok's worries about wearing a suit to a date with Chanyeol made me a bit sad, because there's still that heavy trauma weighing on his shoulders. :'( Paired with the discomfort that Chanyeol feels about the tattoo on Minseok's wrist, I would have been just as nervous as Minseok was before the date. So Chanyeol verbalizing how much he loves Minseok, suit and all, at the end made my heart flutter for them and I'm really happy they're finally happy together! :')

Okay, time for the epilogue! :D
