The parallel lines that are you and me
I will climb over and over I don’t mind Everyone is moody sometimes and despite the fact that it annoys other people, we tend to be emphatic and understand. However, that is not the case when your best friend hung up on you. I tried to recall her and she didn't answer. Okay, Mina, maybe she is upset and she needs some time. Baekhyun was at some practice and I had to eat alone, but the unknown matter with Hyorin was still on my mind. She was three years older than me, but we got along so well. She's supposed to graduate next year. We met in our first year of faculty, she was new here and she didn't know the city well, but in the faculty's halls we were equals. We became friends easily despite our different personalities. The food doesn't taste that good when a friend is upset so I just cleaned it up and waited time to pass so I could try and call her again. By the time I was in bed I had already called her numerous times and send some texts. Worry was upon my heart until I received a text from her, telling me that we'll talk tomorrow. Until I fall asleep, I kept thinking about her and what may have caused her sorrow. I did have a suspicion and hope from all my heart it wasn't true. Friends know each other secrets after all. In the morning Baekhyun and I had breakfast, he had his everyday muffin, but I wanted something more salty. We went together to the faculty and I had to scold him not to fall asleep on the bus. That was one of the reasons I was against him having a car. There was also a hunch that he didn't actually listen to my opinion as I saw he was looking for some part-time jobs. He could just ask our father, he would be more than willing to help him with buying a car, but they didn't get along very well. More like the stubborn nature of Baekhyun was staying in the way of him reconciling with our father. Every family is complicated and I really hope Hyorin's problems weren't related to hers. It was a subject we didn't talk often because I knew it was hard for her. And because we went through relatively the same thing, I didn't bring it on so often, more like never. Nonetheless, I wanted to be there for her, so as a good friend I was, I went rushing to the faculty and began searching for her. When I found her at the cafeteria, Kai was sitting near her and I could tell by their faces that things weren't exactly good. "Hey, what happened", I asked carefully. "Hi, Mina, I'm going to leave you two alone, call me if you need anything, okay", Kai said to Hyorin. She nodded and I sat down, a little bit nervous and reluctant to start the conversation because I was afraid where it might go. "Mina, you've been a good friend and my only true friend here", she said taking my hands in hers. "Hyorin, what happened, you're scaring me", I replied now really panicked. "I have to return home", Hyorin said and that was the moment my mind went blank. "Your apartment isn't far away from here, of course you can go." "It's not what I meant and you know it, Mina." Your worst fears always tend to come true because that's the way you learn to fight them. But it isn't easy and in that moment you feel there's nothing you can do. The period between the problem hit and finding a solution not only takes time, but makes time
