Normally Noa was excited for those rare moments when her job sent her outside of the workplace for an errand. She wasn’t very big on change, or drastic deviations from a routine, but even she could use a break from her usual scenery once in a while. This is why she was excited when Owen, the Safeway manager on duty, asked her to pick up some merchandise form a nearby location; her excitement dropped drastically, however, when he realized that she didn’t have a driver’s license.
“It’s a lot of boxes; I was going to send you in my truck,” he mused, frowning thoughtfully. “It’s too much to try to bring back on the bus…”

The radio was on, and turned to some station that Noa didn’t listen to; Hikaru paid no attention to it, his focus on the road ahead of him as he drove with one hand. Noa didn’t know many people personally who drove in San Francisco; it was fascinating to watch how easily Hikaru navigated the truck, completely at ease about driving someone else’s vehicle.
“Are you planning on getting a car?” Noa inquired after a moment.
“No,” Hikaru responded, his tone concise, but not short.
“Then why get a license in San Francisco if you’re not gonna get a car?”
“I’m not from San Francisco,” Hi
