The Night Walkers | Jikook

Jimin looked up at Jeongguk, holding his hand tightly and smiling. Jeongguk smiled back, their hands entwining and Jeongguk’s eyes flying down to Jimin’s stomach. Taehyung rolled his eyes, pulling Yoongi closer. Yoongi was thankful because he was close to colliding down.

The entire pack was standing on the edge of the forest, waiting for the Sun to come out. Yoongi was half asleep, kept safe by Taehyung’s arm. In the half asleep state he nuzzled in Taehyung’s chest, seeking the scent but Taehyung’s stomach was in the way. Smaller than Jimin’s but still enough to make Yoongi move away a bit.

Everyone was barely awake so there wasn’t much talking, a whisper here and there. Plus they were all anticipating the day. A lot of time had passed since the last time they welcomed the sun like this.

“I’m thinking about Jeongsoo.” Jeongguk muttered, glancing down at Jimin carefully. Jimin’s lower lip was jutted out as he nodded, his teeth appearing which made Jeongguk grin proudly.

“It’s a pretty name. If it’s a girl.” Jimin teased. Jeongguk shrugged. “You’re carrying two so...” Jimin’s eyes widened, hand going over his belly. “What?”

Jeongguk caught the sight of Taehyung peeking at him with a disappointed look on his face mixed with annoyance. “W-What I mean is you’re carrying twins. Oh .” Jeongguk raised his hand to cover his cursed mouth.

Taehyung told Jeongguk to be quiet about the twins because he wanted that to be a surprise for the omega. But it was Jeongguk after all.

Jimin lowered his gaze to his stomach, tears prickled his eyes. “Jiminnie?” Jeongguk panicked, grabbing his hands and Jimin held tightly. “Twins?” Jimin squeaked, moving closer and hugging him, careful of the stomach.

Jeongguk sighed in relief but still aware of the murderous vibe he was getting from Taehyung. “Jeonggukie, we’re having twins!” Jimin cried.

“Jiminnie don’t cry it’s not good for them!”

Jeongguk parroted what Bom had spent moons telling him after he found out he was pregnant. Bom took care of everyone after the whole hunter incident and since then she grew closer to Jimin’s heart. He even let her cry in his arms when he visited once. Of course it didn’t sit well with Jeongguk’s wolf because there was an alpha near his pregnant omega but Taehyung taught Jimin how to release his scent stronger when he wanted. And that calmed both Bom and Jeongguk.

Taehyung sighed when Yoongi’s apple scent filled his nostrils. Yoongi stepped away from him but his hand was around his waist while he rubbed his eyes with other. “I’m going back to sleep after that little comes out.”

Those who heard him laughed and agreed. But it didn’t make him feel proud until he heard Taehyung giggle. “Hey, you said you’ll help with the preparations for Seokjin’s pack’s arrival.”

Yoongi groaned, moving behind Taehyung and finally hugging him tight enough. “Can’t you just fart and get the pup out so I can finally cuddle?”

Taehyung laughed loudly, leaning back against Yoongi for support. “I cannot believe you just said that.”

Silence enveloped everyone once again when the Sun peaked behind the hills. Jeongguk held Jimin’s hand tightly, his heart clenching in anticipation and satisfaction. The Sun lightened up the top of the mountain behind the forest. Taehyung looked behind to follow the light and spun forward in time for the sun to lighten up his face.  For a moment they all soaked in the sunlight, eyes closed, hands clutching onto hands and smiles on their faces.

“Ready?” Junghyun asked, loud enough for all of them to hear. “It’s our first sunrise. We’re no longer Night Walkers.”

“Wrong!” Jeongguk grinned cheekily. Instead of being annoyed or angry with the interruption Junghyun kindly welcomed Jeongguk’s words. “We’re just switching to Day Walkers now!”

Junghyun laughed while Jimin hit Jeongguk’s shoulder. Yoongi groaned, covering his face as Taehyung stared coldly at Jeongguk. Junghyun shook his head before taking in a deep breath. “Okay! Ready?! Let’s do this!”

Jeongguk took a step forward along with everyone else. He narrowed his eyes as the sun blinded him. Jimin giggled and nudged him when he noticed his mate wasn’t breathing. “Relax, Ggukie, it’s a step towards future.”

Jeongguk looked at Jimin and nodded, not finding the sun as blinding as Jimin was. And Jeongguk would go blind if it meant being in Jimin’s arms. Jimin inhaled the sweetened scent of roses and smiled, recognizing it as a scent of content and satisfaction.

“It looks bright.”

During his pregnancy Jimin’s senses seemed to be more sensitive and Bom explained it as his wolf coming out after Jeongguk knotted him and it was a clear invitation that everything was okay. Plus Jimin was happy with the wolf, accepted it and thanked it for giving him the chance to carry his pups.

It was all wonderful for once, no worries and pure enjoyment and happiness.

Jimin’s eyebrow twitched when he felt Jeongguk’s hand sliding pass his hipbone. He slapped it away before rolling around and pinning the older to the bed. Jeongguk was surprised for a moment but soon he smirked and winked. “Good morning love.”

“For the sake of your pretty little face keep your hands to yourself.” Jimin whispered, leaning down and letting his breath tickle Jeongguk’s lips. Before Jeongguk could kiss him Jimin moved to nip at his jaw, Jeongguk’s eyes fluttered shut and body became limp at the sensation. He let out a content sigh, turning his head aside and letting his mate leave marks on his neck.

Jimin chuckled when he noticed but used his chance. Jeongguk groaned, trying to grab Jimin’s hips but the latter was holding his hands tightly. Jeongguk didn’t mind that Jimin became stronger once his wolf surfaced but it meant he couldn’t be the only one in control of things. On one hand it was nice, to have someone else beside you. But in situations like these it meant Jeongguk had to probably anger Jimin with his dominance and ruin his chance.

So instead he clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, gasping when Jimin’s teeth pulled on his skin. Jimin smirked when he smelled the arousal. It was hard for him to control himself too.

But the door slammed open and little footsteps were heard, along with adorable giggles that made Jeongguk’s and Jimin’s life colourful. “Daddy! Papa!”

The twins squealed at the strong scents of their parents, tugging on the furs and trying to climb on their own. Jimin laughed as he pulled the furs gently and pulled them up. They both tackled Jimin on the bed and Jeongguk quietly watched the scene, drowning in the comfort and love in the room.

“Papa I had a pretty dream!” Taeil squealed, sitting on top of Jimin’s chest. Jihyun crawled over to Jeongguk’s side and snuggled against his chest. “What was it about?” Jimin asked, looking up at his son with a wide smile. Taeil grinned from ear to ear.

“I dreamt of many other pups being home! They were all happy and playing together! You were there! Daddy too! We had so much fun!”

Jimin laughed at his pup’s wide and excited eyes. Taeil had a similar scent to Jeongguk’s, he smelt of a fresh spring morning while Jihyun smelt like the sea. Jimin was content with the children in his arms and the big alpha in his bed. He had everything he need.

“Well, should we go to the lake today?” Jeongguk asked, winking at Jimin. The twins screamed in delight and anticipation. They stood on the bed and jumped, singing old songs that had been passed down for generations in the pack.

Jimin watched as Jeongguk tackled both of them down and they squealed and giggled. Jeongguk growled playfully, luring growls from the two baby alphas beneath him. Jeongguk feigned a whine of pain when the two of them bit his ears gently. Jimin giggled when the twins rolled him aside together and jumped on his chest and stomach.

“If you don’t let me go, I’ll take your papa away.” Jeongguk wiggled his eyebrows with a weird grin on his face. Jimin covered his mouth when he saw the terrified looks on the twins’ faces. Jihyun was the one who grabbed Jeongguk’s cheeks and stretched them.

“I’m not giving papa to anyone!” Jihyun growled loudly, surprising both of the parents.

Jimin’s chest swelled with pride and all the love he felt for his daughter. Clawing at an alpha to protect his papa wasn’t something a pup should do but the fact both Jihyun and Taeil were alphas only made Jimin feel safer. He didn’t find the smells too much, they were his pups after all but he heard Lisa and Hyuna say that with time alpha scents become too much for an omega.

Taeil jumped off Jeongguk’s stomach and ran to Jimin who prepared for a hug but Taeil grabbed his hand and tried to drag him away. Jimin looked at Jeongguk with wide eyes, seeing Taeil’s behaviour for the first time. Jeongguk laughed as he let Jihyun hold his wrists together in her hands.

“Let’s go papa! I’ll help you hide!” Taeil yelled, pulling Jimin towards the door.

The unspoken teamwork between the two pups made Jimin’s eyes fill with tears. It was a communication between the pups to keep their parents safe. That was beautiful.

Jimin smiled at Jeongguk before he was out of the room. Taeil ran to the living room, his hair bouncing as he held Jimin’s hand tightly while he held the fence tightly with his other hand, just like Jimin always told him. Jimin quietly followed, resisting the urge to pick the pup into his arms and cuddle him, nuzzle his neck and inhale the beautiful scent of spring mornings.

Taeil dragged him to the corner of the room and patted his knees. “Stay quiet while I hide you.” Taeil whispered, placing his tiny finger against his lips as a sign of silence. Jimin nodded, crouching down and hugging his knees. He watched as Taeil took furs from the couch and brought them to Jimin. Jimin threw the furs over himself without a word and let Taeil hide every bit of him before Taeil sneaked into his lap under his arm and sat. He placed his hands around Jimin’s neck and played with the soft locks behind Jimin’s neck.

Jimin rubbed his nose against Taeil’s. The young pup tapped Jimin’s cheeks. “Shh.” Taeil whispered, covering Jimin’s mouth when his ears picked on something. He relaxed when he didn’t hear anything anymore. He nuzzled Jimin’s neck and gently nipped at the skin. Jimin wrapped his arms around him and couldn’t help but close his eyes. Taeil fitted perfectly in his arms and the soft scent that filled Jimin’s nostrils told him that Taeil was no longer feeling endangered or possessive. He was relaxed and enveloped in his papa’s rosy scent.

He could hear Jeongguk come down the stairs. He was murmuring something, probably to Jihyun. She squealed quietly, a small giggle escaping her lips when Jeongguk made a disappointed face. Jimin covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing.

Jeongguk stood in front of him, carefully grabbing the furs before snatching them off. “Found ya!” Jeongguk exclaimed, his eyes shiny and filled with excitement and happiness as he held Jihyun close to his chest. Jimin giggled, his giggle resembling Jihyun’s. Taeil growled as he quickly stood up and ran at Jeongguk who easily caught him and raised him off the ground.

“Papa run!” Taeil yelled, covering Jeongguk’s eyes while Jihyun tugged on his ear. Jeongguk cried out in pain which only made Jimin laugh harder. He quickly stood up and watched the two pups demolish the alpha. When Jeongguk carefully threw them on the couch and turned to Jimin with a smirk Jimin’s eyes widened. He quickly ran, he could hear pups growling and screaming while following Jeongguk.

Jimin ran back upstairs to their bedroom. Jeongguk picked him up off the ground before he could reach the room and threw him over his shoulder. “Haha! I’ve taken your papa from you!” Jeongguk raised his chin proudly, hand on his hip while Jimin giggled on his shoulder.

The pups looked ready to cry.

Jeongguk was speechless as they both simultaneously started to cry, calling for papa. “Jeongguk you idiot!” Jimin hit Jeongguk’s back. “I didn’t-“ Jeongguk ran to the bedroom and threw Jimin on the bed, caging him underneath. Jimin glared at him as the pups followed them and tried to climb on the bed.

 “Jeongguk they’re crying!”

“They’re devils! Taeil plans to bite my thigh and Jihyun plans to rip my ear off. Jimin do you know our pups? Did you see their eyes?”

Jimin struggled to push him off but Jeongguk nosed on his mating mark, wordlessly making him weak. The pups were quiet, their eyes peeking over the bed as they watched quietly. The scents that mixed together was something beautiful even the pups could smell – Jimin remembers Bom explaining that even pups could smell the compatibility of their parents.

Jimin smiled and winked at them, earning giggles from them. “Are we going to the lake, papa?”

Yoongi yawned, not bothering to cover his mouth as propped himself on his elbows. Taehyung nudged him, glaring in annoyance.

“What?”

“Jiho will pick all your bad habits if you keep doing them!”

“Taehyung, Jiho is playing with Jeongguk’s pups.”

“Shut up and break your bad habits.”

Yoongi rolled his eyes. Taehyung turned to Jimin and smiled, continuing their talk. Yoongi huffed when Jeongguk yawned next to him just like he had previously.

“Seriously?”

“What?” Jeongguk confusedly asked but his attention was stolen by his pups. Yoongi sighed and shook his head. “Didn’t get enough sleep, hyung?” Jeongguk teased.

Ever since Taehyung found out he was carrying a pup Yoongi spent days and nights tending to the omega’s needs, making him food, helping him to move around, Taehyung rarely got up to take care of Jiho when the pup used to wake up in the middle of the night – and when he did it was only because Yoongi was sleeping too deeply to hear the cries. Taehyung saw all the effort, he always saw how the cabin was clean even though he never cleaned it. When he confronted Yoongi about it the alpha shrugged and told him Jiho shouldn’t be exposed to dust. Just that. But Yoongi did much more.

Taehyung’s heart warmed up every time he found out Yoongi did something and didn’t ask to be credited for it, it was done out of love and there were no more reasons needed.

Jimin sighed, placing his hand over his stomach. “I’m not sure. Maybe it’s not it.”

Taehyung shrugged. “Sure, doesn’t have to be a pup but Bom should check it out if you want to be sure.”

Jimin glanced over Taehyung’s shoulder at Jeongguk who was smiling at something Yoongi was saying.

“More pups?” Jimin wondered loudly. “What if it’s too much?”

Taehyung moved closer and wrapped his arms around him. “Jiminnie, you can never have too many kids. It means more love, more happiness. You know, the more the merrier. Can’t you see how happy those two make you? Two more and you’ll be over the clouds.”

Jihyun screamed as she ran out of the lake. Jeongguk and Jimin quickly stood up and ran over to the lake. Jimin picked her up into his arms and kissed his temple. “What’s wrong, love?”

“I saw something scary!” Jihyun whimpered, hiding her face in Jimin’s neck, holding tightly onto his collar. She never cried, Jimin sighed, relieved but worried at the same time.

Taeil was standing in front of him, looking up at Jihyun with wide and worried eyes. It eased Jimin’s mind to know they were protective of each other, it meant they’d be there for each other and that’s what makes a family. Reliability and trust.

Jeongguk scoffed at the lake before walking into the water. He made sure his pants wouldn’t get wet as he rolled his sleeves up. Jimin was worried as he watched his mate stand still and wait. Taeil walked over to him and held his pants tightly, corners of his eyes filling with tears.

“Papa...” Taeil muttered, using Jimin’s pants to wipe the tears without them falling.

“It’ll be fine.” Jimin smiled as he crouched down and kissed Taeil’s forehead, pulling him closer.

Taehyung held Jiho in his arms as he walked closer, Yoongi right beside him. “Jeongguk it’s probably a fish!”

Jeongguk didn’t move, didn’t even acknowledge the advice. Instead he pierced the surface of the water with his hands and pulled a big fish out. Jimin watched with wide eyes as Jeongguk hugged it tightly, running back to the shore to throw it down. He punched it on the head with his fist until it was knocked out. He fell back on his and wiped droplets of water from his face.

“Well, Jihyun was right; there was something fishy in there.”

Jimin scoffed as he thwacked the idiot on the head. Taehyung laughed uncontrollably, giving Jeongguk thumbs up. Jiho laughed as he watched his father’s face and listened to his laugh, raising his little fists and tapping his cheeks. Jimin rolled his eyes and caught the sight of Yoongi smiling adoringly at his family.

“Jeonggukie, I have something to tell you.”

Jeongguk stood up and threw the big fish over his shoulder, not caring that he smelled strange and distancing his pups from himself. He pouted when he saw how much distance there was between them. “Oh come on! I’m getting kisses after supper.”

Jimin laughed as he put Jihyun on the ground. Jeongguk stole a kiss from Jimin as he passed, and Jimin watched with surprised eyes as Jihyun and Taeil followed after Jeongguk, noses high as they smelled the fish. It was the first time they smelled a fish that wasn’t cooked so they must have been curious.

He turned to look at Taehyung who was carrying furs in his hands while Yoongi had Jiho sitting on his shoulders. “Oh! What a giant!” Jimin feigned shock as he raised his hands and Jiho grabbed them with a giggle. Unlike Jihyun and Taeil who were pretty restless and always hyperactive Jiho was quiet and shy but not less protective of his omega father.

Yoongi sniffed and Jimin panicked for a moment. “Jiminnie, you smell a bit different.”

Taehyung scoffed, arms crossed over his chest as he glared at his mate. “How would you know what Jimin smells like? Have you been paying attention to Jimin’s scent?”

Jiho was confused as he watched between Taehyung and Jimin. Yoongi rolled his eyes. “No, it’s a new scent, that’s how I know. Almost like-“ Yoongi trailed off, his eyes fixated on Jimin in surprise while Jimin blushed. “Yeah, I know.”

Taehyung grabbed Yoongi’s ear. “Not a word to anyone. This will definitely be a surprise!” Jimin realized he was referring to Yoongi spilling the beans to Jeongguk before Jimin could. Jimin had no idea why would it matter whether it was a surprise or not but he knew that Jeongguk would definitely like the surprise.

“Minhyuk!” Jimin hugged the boy tightly, finding it hard not to do so after taking care of him as if he were his own. Hyejin stood behind Minhyuk, watching them with a smile. “Wow, you’ve grown a lot!”

“Yeah, he’s been spending time with Jeongguk on the playground when he brings your pups.”

Jimin shook his head, his hands on his hips. “That’s why his clothes are always so dirty!”

Minhyuk giggled and Jimin couldn’t help but laugh. Hyejin looked up at Jimin’s slightly swollen stomach. “Oh, again? Jeongguk can’t stand looking at you without pups.”

Jimin blushed, nervously ruffling Minhyuk’s hair. Hyejin laughed, hugging Minhyuk who stood next to her. Jimin smiled at the sight, he was so happy because Minhyuk’s mother was alive. The woman had gone through so much, to be by her son’s side again was the only thing she wanted. And Jimin could relate so much, he couldn’t imagine being torn away from Taeil and Jihyun. Those two were the centre of his life, his reasons to live.

“Well, Jin’s pack is arriving again. I’ve heard your village offered us to celebrate something together.”

Jimin nodded. “Yeah, I thought it’d be nice since we’re no longer ‘enemies’.” Hyejin nodded in understanding. “That’s nice of you. I look forward to meeting your family.”

Hyejin easily noticed the sorrowful look on his face. “Oh, I’m sorry if I-“ “-No, it’s nothing. I hope you have a great time in the village.”

Jimin bowed once again and smiled before walking away with a small wave. And Hyejin couldn’t help but think that she made him think of something he probably wanted to forget.

Jimin sniffed, a shaky sigh escaping his lips. Jeongguk had taken the pups to play after Jimin said he’d make supper. As soon as Jeongguk left Jimin found himself crying more than cooking.

After Jihyun left with Momo, Minji stayed behind and spent a few nights in the pack. A few families left to the city to explore it in broad daylight so she had a house to herself. Jimin was happy he could spend time with her but Jihyun left a wound too big on his heart.

It wasn’t that Momo was bad, Taehyung admitted that she helped him escape when the pack attacked. It was actually all Jihyun’s fault; he was at home for two nights before he packed his bag and left with Momo, telling Hoseok to relay the message to his mother once she came home.

Jimin was worried about his mother, he pursued her to spend every few nights in the pack – plus she loved taking care of pups. According to them Minji had a scent as calming as Jimin did so her presence was very comfortable and kind. And sometimes Jimin needed a moment alone.

He would sometimes have nightmares about that night. Jeongguk would be there to kiss him back to sleep, tending the mating bite which lulled Jimin to sleep faster than a lullaby. Sometimes Jeongguk would sing an old song an old tribe dedicated to the Moon and as the Moon’s children the pack sang the song as their own. In a way it was.

Jimin felt his nerves ease when Jeongguk’s scent filled his nostrils. “Jiminnie?” Jeongguk whispered, hands wrapping around Jimin’s narrow waist and lips pressed against the scar on his neck. Jimin closed his eyes and leaned back against Jeongguk’s chest. He could hear the question without Jeongguk voicing it.

“I miss mom.”

Jeongguk sighed and wordlessly leaned aside to look at Jimin. Jimin felt lighter when he saw Jeongguk smiling. “Want to spend a few nights at her place?”

Without a single word Jimin turned around and wrapped his arms around Jeongguk. Jeongguk chuckled, knowing from Jimin’s scent that he wasn’t sad anymore.

“You left the pups alone?”

“Left them with Dara and Hyuna.” Jeongguk muttered.

Silence followed, filled with calm breaths and beautiful, strong scents. Jimin pressed his cheek against Jeongguk’s chest and listened to his heart beat. “Jiminnie, are you coming down with something? You smell different.” Jeongguk leaned closer and sniffed. His nose trailed away from Jimin’s neck to his shoulders since the mark only had Jeongguk’s and Jimin’s scents.

Jimin opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. “Uh... Jeongguk, shouldn’t the scent be familiar? It isn’t really the first time I smell like this.”

Jeongguk raised an eyebrow, leaning away to look at his mate. Not the first time? Jeongguk tried to remember the last time he smelled the scent but... yeah, it was familiar but Jeongguk didn’t really... He accidentally glanced down at Jimin’s stomach before his mind turned blank. He looked up at Jimin’s smile, somehow registering in his brain that Jimin was nervous.

He moved closer, his forehead resting against Jimin’s. Jimin was grinning widely. Jeongguk’s scent was light and sweet, proof of how happy he was.

“Really?” Jeongguk whispered, the smile in his tone lifting weight off Jimin’s shoulders.

Jimin nodded, wrapping his arms around Jeongguk’s neck and pulling him down for a kiss. Jeongguk giggled suddenly, pulling away and crouching in front of Jimin to hug his stomach. Jimin laughed while tangling his fingers in Jeongguk’s soft locks. Jimin squealed in surprise when Jeongguk picked him up and sat him down on the table. Jimin glared playfully but Jeongguk kissed the tip of his nose, the wrinkles on Jimin’s face disappearing.

“You sit here, I’ll make supper.”

Jimin wanted to protest, he didn’t want to sit and do nothing just because he carried a pup. But watching Jeongguk bounce in the kitchen like he won all the gold in the world made Jimin realize that the view in front of him wasn’t that bad from where he was sitting.

Jeongguk looked over his shoulder and winked. “We’ll go to the lake tomorrow. Just the two of us.”

Jimin blushed, knowing what Jeongguk had in mind. “What about the pups?”

“Someone can take care of them for a night. They’re not impossible, you know? Plus your mother can come and the next day we can go to your village.”

Jimin nodded, grabbing Jeongguk’s arm and pulling him closer. “That’s sounds like the plan, alpha.”

Jeongguk grinned, red freckles in his eyes and Jimin felt so special and unique knowing there was no one else in the world who can make Jeongguk feel like that. Jeongguk stood between Jimin’s legs, holding onto his thighs while stealing a kiss. Jimin giggled, tasting strawberries suddenly.

“When did you manage to eat those? I didn’t even take my eyes off you.”

Jeongguk shrugged, but the twinkle in his eyes told Jimin he felt accomplished for not being seen. “Took me years to become that good. An old woman that used to cook at our old cabin would always threaten to make me eat pepper, or she’d say she could put worms in my soup without anyone knowing. She didn’t like it when someone bothered her. But I loved annoying her.”

Jimin pouted. “You’re a bad alpha if you steal.”

Jeongguk smirked. “Really? What else makes me bad?”

Jimin hummed, fixing Jeongguk’s collar before tugging him closer. Jeongguk shivered when he felt Jimin’s lips brush against his ear. “Your lack of cooking skills.”

Perhaps the second thing that made Minji the happiest person on the world were the pups her son had given birth to. And more are on their way. Minji couldn’t explain what kind of a smile Jimin was showing but it was the brightest one she had ever seen in her life. And standing right next to him was his alpha, Jeongguk – the reason behind it.

Minji loved taking care of Taeil and Jihyun, the pups were unusually calm and reasonably childish(?). They didn’t find fun in dirtying their clothes, playing in the mud or throwing things or breaking them. Taeil was proud, he talked about his plans for the future; he’d be the pack’s head alpha and he’d dedicate his life to protect it and take care of it because they were all a family and Taeil heard from his father that he’d give his life for it. And Taeil looked up to his father very much. He was more childish than Jihyun, he’d often challenge other kids to see how strong they were or how strong he was. Minji was fascinated by the early display of passion and competency (with both of the pups).

But Jihyun was more like Jimin than Taeil was. Jihyun was quiet and protective of her papa. Every time they were outside she’d watch people watch him, she’d stand in front of him whenever he talked to anyone that wasn’t Jeongguk. And she had Jimin’s eyes, the warm hazel eyes that she remembered her mate had.

Jimin patted Minji’s shoulder gently, looking down at her with a smile before sitting on the couch. “Thank you, mom. I know the pups can be-“ “-Jiminnie, they’re my grandchildren. I’m taking care of them because I love them, so you don’t have to thank me.”

Jimin sneaked his hand in Minji’s and the woman smiled. “Where’s Jeongguk?”

“He went to welcome Jin and his pack. He told me to stay the night.” Jimin moved closer, cuddling with Minji who wrapped her arm around him and ruffled his hair with her other hand.

“Jihyun told me today she was worried about you.”

Jimin raised his head and looked at his mother with wide eyes. “What? Why?”

“She said you looked sad. And you smelled different.”

The boy blushed as he moved away from his mother. He scratched the back of his neck nervously while Minji watched him silently before laughing.

“Jiminnie, I’ve noticed that belly a while ago. And Jihyun is really sharp. You’re usually good at acting happy and unbothered. Did you tell Jeongguk? Is that why you were worried?

Jimin shook his head. He took Minji’s hands and the woman was worried when she saw the tears in his eyes. “I was just... brother’s been on my mind for a while. We have no idea what happened to him, we have no idea if he’s even alive. Mom, I’m worried about him.”

Minji squeezed his hands and tilted his chin so he could look her in the eyes. “Jimin, Jihyun chose to leave us. He chose to be happy with that woman. You’ve seen what she’s like, she’ll keep him safe. They’re probably happier than he was when he was here.”

“I know that but I just want to see him. It’s different.”

“I know, I understand. I am a mother after all. But people can’t always stay in your life. Everyone looks for their own happiness. Just be happy your brother found his.”

That night Jimin fell asleep in his mother’s arms. He didn’t expect to wake up with someone else.

Jimin didn’t have to open his eyes to know Jeongguk was lying next to him. He peaked through his lashes, knowing Jeongguk was probably staring at him with his doe eyes like Jimin were a miracle.

“Good morning beautiful.” Jeongguk whispered as he kissed Jimin’s forehead.

The younger boy yawned, stretching in Jeongguk’s arms. He froze when he felt the pups pressed against his back. Carefully and with a smile on his face Jimin turned around.

Jihyun and Taeil were curled together next to each other with their backs pressed against Jimin.

“They didn’t want to move away from you. I’m surprised all the growling and whining didn’t wake you up.” Jeongguk said as he sat up to look over Jimin’s shoulder.

Jimin brushed their cheeks with his thumb, eyes shiny as he stared at his pups. “They’re so beautiful, Jeonggukie”

Jeongguk hummed in agreement, his hand sliding underneath Jimin’s shirt and rubbing the slightly swollen belly. “And more are on their way. I can’t believe I cuddled with you so many times and I never noticed.”

“Yeah, well, you can be really dense.” Jimin looked over his shoulder at his mate.

Jeongguk glared as he leaned down and bit Jimin’s lip. Jimin gasped, grabbing Jeongguk’s collar and tugging him closer. Jeongguk chuckled.

“I need a compliment to motivate me.”

The younger boy made a grimace. He thought for a moment before smirking, eyebrows raised. “Are you sure? I’m confident that it takes one word to keep you going.”

Jeongguk scoffed, disapproving of the thought of being taken so easily tameable. “What word? If it doesn’t work I’m leaving.”

Jimin’s eyes moved all over Jeongguk’s face; his eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, nose, lips, chin, back to his forehead and then over again. He found himself admiring his mate, temporarily forgetting about the deal. Jeongguk smiled and rubbed his nose against Jimin’s. Jimin smirked.

“Alpha.”

The word was a whisper, reaching Jeongguk’s ear a bit before Jimin’s heavy aroused scent filled his nostrils. Jimin waited, looking aside at Jeongguk’s face. His eyes were closed, fists clenched. He probably didn’t want to give in, always so proud. But Jimin made a bet. And he’ll win.

“Alpha.” Jimin gasped, eyes closed and images of Jeongguk’s skin glistening with sweat as he hovered over him; the thought of his alpha’s arousing smell made Jimin leak a bit.

Jeongguk growled as he moved away, and Jimin thought he lost for a moment but Jeongguk grabbed Jimin’s hand and threw him over his shoulder. Jimin giggled, hoping he didn’t wake up the pups. He was thankful his mother wasn’t there.

“No! Put that down! Brat!” Bom screeched as she took a bowl from a kid’s hands. She accidentally saw him among the people and he wasn’t the first one who tried to steal it.

The celebration started a bit early with Jeongguk announcing that Jimin was pregnant once again but it wasn’t as surprising because it seemed like everyone knew except for that idiot. Hyolyn, Hyuna, Dara, Lisa and Dasom were in charge of the food in the pack but the villagers were also prepared. Jimin helped them as much as he could.

Hoseok was over the sky when he heard that Jimin was able to come to the village when he visited that one day when Hoseok was away. When he finally got a chance to hug Jimin Jeongguk was worried that his mate would limp with a few broken bones. But Jimin was just without a breath.

Jeongguk was also worried when Minho, Sehun and Minseok dragged Jimin off somewhere but Myungsoo stayed behind with Jeongguk. Apparently they made something in the backyard of Jimin’s house and they wanted to show it to him. Jeongguk talked to Myungsoo, explaining a few things to him after Myungsoo asked. It felt rather nice talking to someone who didn’t already know everything about him. And Jeongguk knew that he wanted to meet more people, talk to more people and befriend them.

Namjoon apologized to Jimin for not being able to stand up for him that day Jeongguk claimed him. But Jimin dismissed it as a good thing to have happened because he couldn’t imagine his life without the pups, Jeongguk or the pack. Just like his mother had said he just needed time to get used to it. And every bit of Jimin’s heart got used to the pack.

“It’s called soap.” Jin started a story every once in a while, explaining things to the pack. “People use it when they wash hands; women use it to wash clothes. It’s made of animal fat and it smells disgusting. And it’s slippery!” The pack nodded, amazed with all the things that were happening outside in the world.

“I guess we’re slipping in a brighter age.”

The entire table roared with laughter at Jin’s pun. He looked at Namjoon who was covering his face with his hands, a smile hidden beneath it. He nudged the man before raising his cup of beer.

“Life is too short not to laugh, chief Namjoon!”

Namjoon eyed the beer in front of him before shaking his head. “No thanks, I’m having more fun being sober.”

“Are you saying I’m drunk? This is only my... second cup!”

Namjoon chuckled, nodding. “I’m pretty sure it’s fifth and I’m surprised you’re not drooling on the ground.”

Jin smirked, slapping Namjoon’s shoulder and hitting the table with his cup. “Where are those musicians I brought from the city!? Play something! We’re not celebrating in silence!”

Namjoon was surprised at the melodies he heard from somewhere but he wasn’t given a chance to see where they was coming from. People stood up from the table and Jin grabbed Namjoon’s arm.

“Come on chief. Leave wrinkles for the old days!”

Jeongguk jumped to his feet when Jimin stood up from beside him. “Wait! Someone can hurt you!”

“Then come and protect me!” Jimin giggled, grabbing Jeongguk’s wrist and sliding his fingers in Jeongguk’s.

The older boy grinned widely as he followed, eyes glued on Jimin as they joined the circle of dancers. He threw one last glance at Minji who was dancing with Jihyun and Taeil a bit away from the crowd.

“I don’t like him.” Yoongi grumbled, leaning his head against Taehyung’s shoulder. Their hands were locked together, with Yoongi running his thumb over the back of Taehyung’s bigger hand. He watched the younger boy’s knee bounce to the rhythm of the music. He knew how much Taehyung wanted to dance.

“His jokes are not that bad.” Taehyung laughed, drinking his beer.

Yoongi scoffed. “They are pathetic. Just like his old .”

“Yoongi bear his is two years older than yours.” Taehyung cupped Yoongi’s cheeks and the older boy growled without menace. That was probably his wounded pride. Taehyung rolled his eyes.

Yoongi watched as he turned to look around at the people dancing. Even Jimin was dancing with Jeongguk’s hands around him holding him like a pup and glaring at people who waved their arms around. Taehyung shook his head when Jimin waved for them to join the dance.

“Why don’t you go?” Yoongi asked, looking down at their hands.

He knew very well Taehyung didn’t want to leave him sitting alone because Yoongi never appreciated unnecessary activities.

“I’m not leaving you alone.” Taehyung smiled, kissing Yoongi’s temple.

“Taehyung, I’m just going to be here. You have fun with them.” Yoongi tried to pull his hands out of Taehyung’s but Taehyung glared while holding tightly. When he completely turned to look at Yoongi the older boy knew a lesson was in line.

“Min Yoongi-“ It’s been a while since the last time Taehyung said his full name. “-As your mate, you partner in life, your other half, your source of happiness and everything you live for-“ Through the sentence Taehyung’s glare turned into an adoring look that made Yoongi hold his breath. “-I am not leaving you alone because I want to spend every moment with you. Be it sitting, walking, running or dancing – if it’s not you then it makes no sense. You know that.”

Yoongi rubbed his nose with the back of his hand as he looked around, wondering if anyone heard that. Yoongi nodded squeezing Taehyung’s hands. He kissed his mate, his own way of telling Taehyung how much he appreciated and returned the feelings and the words Taehyung had just told him.

Taehyung grinned like a child. He looked in confusion when Yoongi stood up.

“Come on, they’re not waiting for us.”

It was how merging with people began. Humans accepted the Night Walkers as they were, of course they still had a lot of questions and they were confused by their animalistic instincts but slowly humans were learning. And accepting. The term Night Walkers wasn’t used anymore because there was no need to. They were all together and they called each other by names. There was no discriminating.

“Get them out of me! Jeongguk I am going to squeeze life out of you when this is over!”

Bom rolled her eyes as Jimin continued to scream curses and other words like every other omega in labour did. Jeongguk went through all of it when Jimin gave birth to the twins but it still frightened him. He had never heard Jimin say those words to him before (excluding the birth of the twins). But he wasn’t worried because his hand was going blue thanks to Jimin’s strength – he was worried because of the disgusting smell of blood. Just like the day the twins were born.

“Jeongguk, honey, if you’re going to faint or throw up please leave the room.” Dara patted Jeongguk’s back gently and Jeongguk shook his head numbly. He moved closer to Jimin and pushed back the hair on his forehead.

“I’m fine.”

Jimin opened his eyes when he heard Jeongguk’s voice. He weakly raised his hand, a weak whine escaping his lips. Jeongguk quickly took it and squeezed both of his hands. “It’s going to be fine, Jiminnie. You’re strong.”

Jeongguk leaned down and nosed against the mating scar. Jimin’s breathing slowly evened and eyes fluttered shut. Dara smiled, looking at Bom who had a look of disgust on her face. Dara threw a towel at her. Bom glared.

“Sorry to interrupt but your pups kind of want to come out!”

Jeongguk moved away, leaving a kiss on Jimin’s forehead. “Come on baby, you can do this.”

Jimin thought back to the day he told Jeongguk he was pregnant – that smile, that happiness, the joy. Jimin wanted to do that again. He wanted to make him happy again. Jeongguk grabbed Jimin’s hand and squeezed slightly.

With a painful scream Jimin pushed.

Jeongguk kissed Jimin’s forehead, looking at him with a smile as he moved away. It tired him out completely but in the end Jimin gave birth to two boys and a girl. The gentle scents that filled the air overpowered the scent of blood. Bom didn’t say anything about the tears that streamed down Jeongguk’s face as he held each one of them (Dara could swear she saw her smile). Jimin managed to hold them too before he fell asleep.

To everyone’s surprise the youngest girl was the first and only omega among the children.

Jeongsoo, Jeongguk thought with a smile as he held her close to his chest, pressing his lips against her forehead. She smelled like mint and it was so pleasant Jeongguk might be sleeping with her on his chest. She was so small and soft, just like every other pup. But somehow knowing she was an omega made Jeongguk think of her as more fragile than the two boys next to her.

Fragile.

Jeongguk looked at Jimin, thinking back to that day when he fell off the tree and easily hurt his shoulder. Then he looked at Jeongsoo. Omega, just like papa. Jeongguk thought of all the things they’ve been through and couldn’t help but think how far from fragile Jimin was.

A strong omega just like papa.

Jeongguk gently put her down. He picked up the oldest boy. Bom put a blue thread around his wrist so Jeongguk knew which one was the oldest.

Hmm...Siwon? Jeongguk made a suspicious face at the pup that was yawning and flapping his arms and legs. No, it didn’t really sound right. Hmm...

No, it doesn’t sound like a name Jimin would think of... The pup stuffed his mouth with his hand and Jeongguk held back a laugh. He always loved watching newborns, they had always been adorable – unaware of the world and everything that awaits for them in the future. He kissed the tip of his nose.

“Seungri.” Jeongguk whispered, the name coming out of nowhere.

The boy hummed, opening his eyes slowly and looking straight into Jeongguk’s. Jeongguk’s sight blurred from the tears. Seungri smelled like strawberries. Once again Jeongguk looked at his mate. Jimin will love Seungri, he smelled like his favourite fruit.

As soon as his eyes landed on his third son Jeongguk knew what he’d name him.

“Jiyong.”

Jeongguk picked him up and smiled. A small growl came from the pup, surprising Jeongguk. But it was good, Junghyun had told him the sooner a pup growls he’ll be a better hunter. It had something to do with his natural instinct and nothing was better than an animalistic instinct when hunting.

Jiyong smelled like honey, so sweet that Jeongguk could taste it on his tongue when he sniffed his skin.

“They’re beautiful.”

Jeongguk’s head snapped to Jimin. His eyes were barely opened, hands resting on his stomach as he smiled tiredly. He was struggling to keep his eyes opened. Jeongguk put Jiyong down and walked over to Jimin. He lied down and moved as close as he could to the younger boy. Jimin winced when Jeongguk accidentally bumped his thigh while pulling furs over them.

“Sorry!” Jeongguk kissed Jimin’s forehead. “It’s fine.” Jimin breathed out heavily, his teeth gritted together as he forced himself to move closer to Jeongguk. The alpha used the chance and carefully pulled Jimin on top of him. Jimin chuckled, raising his head and stealing a kiss.

“You named them?” Jimin asked, placing his hand on Jeongguk’s chest and supporting his chin with it. Jeongguk put another pillow beneath his head so he could stare at Jimin’s face without hurting his neck.

Jeongguk nodded to Jimin’s question.

“I heard you say Jiyong. And I smell strawberries.” Jimin sniffed the air, looking around the room while Jeongguk laughed.

“That’s your son’s scent.”

Jimin banged his forehead on Jeongguk’s chest while Jeongguk continued to laugh, wrapping his arms around him. “And he’s adorable! All of them are.” Jeongguk sighed. Jimin raised his head, his eyes glinting with happiness despite being tired. “Thank you, Jiminnie.”

Jimin shrugged. “I’ll take credit for that.”

Jeongguk laughed before kissing his mate once more.

“I’m so tired.” Jimin muttered, eyes closed as he laid his head on Jeongguk’s chest. “But I wanna see them.”

“Tomorrow. They’ll be here when you wake up.”

Finally presenting to the pack/ your first transformation is something the entire pack finds joy in. It’s a bit different when omegas present because they can’t control their scents very much, it’s not like they can in that state which leads to alphas acting differently and it’s just not fun. But when alphas presents it’s always been less drama.

That’s why Jimin wanted either Jeongsoo to have an equal celebration or for her alpha brothers to not have one.

It was as simple as that.

After Jeongguk attempting to explain things to Jimin and Jimin just denying it all by saying ‘she’s my princess and she’ll have a damn ball if she wants to’, it made Jeongguk turn to Jeongsoo and ask her.

Jimin felt dizzy when she said she didn’t want a celebration.

Okay, okay. Jimin eventually accepted that. Jeongsoo cuddled him for an entire day and Jeongguk knew she learned Jimin’s weak point. He patted her head proudly for being clever. After all Jimin’s omega side was strong willed and determined. Perhaps cuddling, compliments and strawberries were the only way to make him change his mind.

It wasn’t that Jeongsoo minded leaving the house with one of her siblings clinging to her arm, it was the fact that they wouldn’t let a boy approach her without growling, or a girl without glaring. Jeongsoo understood that it’s just how family’s supposed to act but when Taeil knocked out an alpha because he took her hand it seemed like they were overstepping their boundaries.

Everyone sat in silence while Jimin tended to a bruise on Taeil’s cheek. Jeongguk was satisfied, when Taeil explained himself he got a pat on the back and a ‘way to go’. Jeongsoo on the other hand tripped her father when he wasn’t watching. But the angry Jeongsoo was too adorable for anyone to take her seriously.

People usually punch people but Jeongsoo just trips them.

Jeongguk told her many times it was okay to hit someone if they hurt you, Jimin also told her many times it wasn’t okay to hit someone and that she should come home and as her parents they’d take care of the situation. Jeongsoo laughed that night when Jeongguk made a strange face behind Jimin’s back.

So when she returned home hoping for Taeil’s actions to be a reason for all the spying (nope, she never went anywhere alone) and threatening to stop she found her family being proud and ready to kick more asses. Except for Jimin. He was the only one disapproving.

Maybe even Jihyun. As an alpha it was her instinct to protect an omega but Jihyun told her many times she was ready to rip heads even without their wolves controlling them. They were sisters after all.

Jeongsoo crossed her arms and her cheeks puffed in annoyance – a habit since a long time ago. Jiyong sighed and plopped down next to her, arm going around her shoulders. Almost on instinct she leaned against him, eyes closed. She had known the outcome the moment she saw her father’s grin when they came home.

Among her siblings Jiyong was the least protective in a way. He’d just glare at people and stare at them suspiciously or just stare until they feel uncomfortable and leave.

“I have to meet my mate at one point in life.” Jeongsoo muttered, easily catching attention of everyone, even Jeongguk’s and Jimin’s who were still going on about Taeil’s face.

Seungri sat down beside her and leaned against her shoulder, squeezing her between himself and Jiyong. Jihyun somehow sat in front of Seungri on the edge of the couch and placed her hand on Jeongsoo’s knee. Taeil whined as he ran over to the little group the three had created and successfully tripped and fell face first. Jeongguk burst out laughing, not believing the pup tripped in his own house, on his own territory while Jimin ran over to him to check his face.

Laugher once more filled the cabin as Taeil dragged his body to the couch and pushed Jiyong’s legs aside so he could sit. Jimin huffed, cheeks puffing and Jeongguk couldn’t help but kiss him. Jimin rolled his eyes and slapped his chest.

Jeongsoo grinned as her siblings went off about how her mate wouldn’t be scared of her family. If anything her mate would learn from them how to properly protect her and take care of her. Ain’t nothing bad in that. Yes, they admitted it was a bit overboard but Jeongsoo knew she’d be the same. She wondered how it would be for her if she were an alpha.

And then she shuddered because she didn’t think she’d stay alive after all the pats on the back Jihyun gets. Her older sister was strong, undoubtedly the strongest female alpha in the pack because she had yet to be defeated. She even took Jeongguk down once. It was quite a memory for Jimin.

Taeil loved to challenge other alphas, for fun or because he knew they liked Jeongsoo. Sometimes he was the one being challenged because he couldn’t keep his tongue behind his teeth. His honesty could sometimes pass as bravery. But you know there’s a thin line between madness and bravery. He just loved taking his clothes off and fighting in the dirt. Then when he came home Jimin waited with a stick in his hand ready to beat him.

Jiyong was the second half of the brain among the five siblings. The first half was Jihyun. Jiyong was also Jeongsoo’s best friend. He was understanding with everything Jeongsoo ever said to him and he loved helping everyone around him. At first Jimin thought he might be used a lot by others for his kindness but in the end it turned out that Jiyong had a different side of him. The one that came out when he felt disappointed or extremely angered. But he has a lot of patience.

Seungri was the little artist. When they once visited the city Jimin bought Seungri graphite and paper and even though Seungri could barely hold it properly at that time it didn’t take a long time before Seungri learned to draw on his own. It wasn’t because Jimin didn’t want to teach him but because Seungri would go to the backyard without anyone knowing and draw flowers on his own. Perfection takes time and Seungri soon enough could draw people, his memory was good, he had ideas of his own, he’d help the pack organize events, he’d set traps in the forest that wouldn’t kill the prey – he was a leader every pack needed.

Oh and Taehyung gave birth to a girl! An alpha, just like Jiho. They were a problematic duo – it seemed like they lived to prank people. At first Jimin was thrilled to spend time with the pups but with all the flour poured on his head; all the honey he stepped in; all the eggs that were thrown at him; all the slipping and falling he did – he just decided that the safest thing to do was to meet up with Taehyung somewhere far from their cabin.

And Yoongi was happier than Jimin had ever thought he could be. Yoongi would go everywhere smiling; all the energy people thought he didn’t have was being wasted in huge amounts all because of the pups. Even Taehyung admitted he never thought he’d live to see it but life is a miracle.

Jin started visiting frequently after the celebration in Jimin’s village. Jimin thought he liked it but it turned out there was someone he liked. Namjoon caught his eye easily and Jimin knew why, Namjoon was extremely handsome and a lot of women tried to set him up with their daughters and brought him in uncomfortable situations.

But it seemed like all it took was one alpha full of lame jokes and a unique (strange) laugh.

Jimin sighed, looking at the crowd of people beneath him. He had never seen a person with a brown skin, or eyes different than his. He couldn’t stop staring in amazement, they were all so beautiful, some had ornaments engraved in their skin, they wore bracelets, necklaces and earrings made of silver and gold in shapes Jimin had no idea could be made. What got Jimin’s attention the most was the school.

Jeongguk wasn’t that new to the city but he was as amazed as Jimin was. Plus the pups were scattered almost everywhere but Jimin and Jeongguk managed to keep them together. The city was big; there were so many different buildings – bigger than Jimin had ever seen. People wore clothes in all kinds of colours and shapes, strange big and small hats, there were hundreds of beautiful and breath-taking animals. Jimin felt like he was stepped into a different time. Or maybe on a different planet.

But his family was there, as clueless as he was. And that was enough of a proof that he was indeed wide awake and on his own planet.

With Seokjin’s help Jeongguk found a pretty little family house for them to live in the city. “Consider it a late mating gift.” Jin smiled and gave them a pat on the back before pushing them to pack their bags.

Jeongsoo was the most excited one, she couldn’t wait to see all the wonders Seokjin talked to her about. She was so caught up in the city she didn’t notice that her siblings were surrounding her. Jimin laughed at it, noticing how they were all so not aware of what they were doing. Jeongguk nodded in approval, pulling Jimin closer to his chest.

“Didn’t expect this, huh?” Jeongguk sat down beside him, placing a glass of orange juice in front of him.

Jimin looked up at him and Jeongguk knew how excited and happy he was.

“It’s beautiful, Jeongguk. I can’t think of anything else to say.” Jimin stood up and sat down on Jeongguk’s lap, smiling brightly and lightening up the night. Jeongguk kissed him, cupping his cheeks gently. Jimin giggled, leaning his forehead against his.

“Jeongsoo said she met a friend.”

Jeongguk’s smile fell as he stared at Jimin. Instead of asking anything he waited for Jimin to speak.

“She said he’s an alpha.” At those words Jeongguk’s eyes reddened, face confronting into one of worry. Jimin slapped his chest. “He’s a student. He goes to that school you showed us. And Jeongsoo wants to go there too.”

When Jeongguk looked away from Jimin’s eyes the younger boy knew he wasn’t agreeing. But Jimin already knew he’d be like that.

“Jeongguk-“ “-No, I’m not against it. It’s just... Alphas in the city are... different.”

“How so?”

“Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed how many omegas are on the streets.”

Jimin thought back and nodded. “Yeah, there are many. I didn’t even know there were wolves in the city.”

Jeongguk nodded. “Alphas consider omegas... stress relievers. They’re bad Jimin. I don’t want Jeongsoo to be around someone like that. No matter how educated they are they use omega and dispose of them like they’re trash.”

It made Jimin look like he had done something wrong. Jeongguk nosed against his neck, letting him know through the closeness of his lips to his scar that it was okay; no one was angry or disappointed. “Jiminnie, it’s okay. We’ll just have them study here at our house.”

Jimin looked down at his hands, like he was found guilty of something. “I’m sorry.” Jimin breathed out barely in a whisper. Jeongguk chuckled, holding him tightly and playful growl rumbled in his chest. Jimin giggled as he kissed him.

“Did the pups agree on their rooms?” Jeongguk asked, remembering Jihyun and Taeil having a small argument.

“Yes.” Jimin laughed. “Jihyun beat him until he gave in.”

Jeongguk nodded, lower lip jutting out in impression. Jimin sighed and looked down at the buzzing city despite the Sun setting awhile ago.

“Jeonggukie... I love you.”

He looked back at Jeongguk who was already looking at him. Jeongguk nodded. “I know. I love you too.”

“Kids, we’re going to be late!” Running was heard upstairs before the three of them tumbled down the stairs. “Ready? I don’t want to hear about you guys punching anyone and remember that-“

“-Just because Jisoo is an omega doesn’t mean she can’t kick - we know mom!” Taeyong finished with a bored look on his face while Jisoo nodded, satisfied with them memorizing it.

Taeyeon glared as she handed them lunch boxes. Jisoo was grinning widely as she thanked her mother. Sunggkyu nodded silently in thanks.

“I hope you know tonight is the annual gathering! It’s a special day when-“ “-When our hundreds years old pack joined the humans! Mom we’ll be late because of you!” Jisoo whined.

Taeyeon puffed her cheeks in annoyance. She was glad they know what she wanted to say but they never showed up to the gathering unless she picked them up and dragged them to it.

“Okay, dad is waiting in the car! Go! Shoo! If I find out you’re not at the gathering I am going to embarrass you on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!” Her words were followed by groans and moans while she grinned proudly.

As she left the house she saw the neighbours getting the table and decorations ready for the night. Several hundred years passed since the Night Walkers were named as the monsters by the nearby villagers who’d come every night to the village and no one who was caught outside would be left alive. That lasted until one day Taeyeon’s ancestor ventured into the forest and was saved by one of the monsters.

Later that night the Night Walkers, who couldn’t walk in the day light, came running to the village before the Sun set. Taeyeon’s ancestor was the only one who stayed behind and he was given three days to spend with his family by the one who had saved him earlier that day.

Thanks to Taeyeon’s ancestor the pack and the villagers merged together and joined into a community – the first one of that kind. Ever since then humans have been joining together with them and of course there are people who refuse to do so – even some packs don’t want to have anything to do with humans. But the pack Taeyeon grew up in had been coexisting with humans since her ancestor’s time.

“Mom stop daydreaming! Let’s go!” Jisoo yelled from the car.

Taeyeon glared as she stomped to the car. “I’ve always waited for your smelly asses whenever you daydreamed so you don’t get to tell me anything!”

The three kids stared in surprise at their mother while Hyungwon chuckled. “Let’s go, I’ll be late for work.”

While still glaring at the three of them Taeyeon made herself comfortable in the seat. “I'm making cake today.”

The kids cheered, giving each other high-fives. Everyone knew mom made the best cakes.

“For the gathering.” And just like that they were back to pouting and wide eyes. “So, if you come you’ll eat.”

Taeyeon smirked, glancing back at them before giggling to herself.

If only Jimin and Jeongguk knew what they had started all those years ago...
