Part Of Me

The Night Walkers | Jikook

Jeongguk breathed heavily as he crashed in front of the door. He was worried about waking Jimin up but he couldn’t help himself, the aftermath of the shifting numbed his senses for a moment. He closed his eyes and tried to remember the best Jimin’s scent. He knew it would help him bear with the pain better.

An entire day had passed and Jeongguk couldn’t stay with him, even though he wasn’t so bent on marking Jeongguk anymore it didn’t mean it couldn’t happen again. Jeongguk was sloppy in the forest, kept tripping and his nose was almost useless which the other wolves used as a chance to finally laugh at him. As someone who tried his best and exceeded in everything Jeongguk was rarely seen making mistakes and even though they were worried about Jeongguk’s sudden clumsiness they knew it was because of Jimin. That made it much funnier.

Someone proud and strong like Jeongguk being so whipped and acting like a pup was a sight to behold.

The scent of roses was back, Jeongguk smiled at the strength of it, thanking his mind for being so kind to him. Back in the forest it was hard to bring it back to life thanks to the strong scents of plants and wood, plus the alphas had their own strong scents and none of them were who he wanted the most.

“Jeongguk?”

Jeongguk took a moment to realize it wasn’t his memory but Jimin standing on the other side of the door. The lock was pulled aside and Jimin opened the door slowly, the sight of Jeongguk in pain hurrying him outside.

They both stayed quiet, Jeongguk knew very well Jimin was embarrassed about his actions, his ears and cheeks reddened when he saw the marks on Jeongguk’s neck he had left before but Jeongguk smiled. He was beyond happy he could show them proudly to the other alphas that used to about being too shy and never finding a mate.

Jeongguk sat down on a stair lower and pulled Jimin’s legs until Jimin’s front was pressed against his back. The older boy leaned back against Jimin’s chest and sighed. Jimin continued to blush, his lower lip starting to bruise because of the force he was biting it with. Jimin busied his hands in Jeongguk’s hair, scrapping his nails against Jeongguk’s skin and tugging on his locks slightly. Jeongguk smiled, loving the little act of attention.

Jimin forced his heart to calm down, taking shallow breaths so he wouldn’t bother Jeongguk too much.

“You’re so shy, Jiminnie. Relax.” Jeongguk slurred with a smile, resting his hands on Jimin’s thighs, drawing circles on his knees with his fingertips. The pain helped Jeongguk feel less embarrassed and bolder but it happens to everyone; blushing can’t compare to the pain they feel once they shift. Jimin stayed quiet, not finding strength to argue. But not finding a reason to do so either. Not like Jeongguk teased or insulted him. Jimin was shy, that’s it. A fact.

“Let’s go inside.” Jimin muttered even though a part of him refused to move or even acknowledge the idea. Thankfully Jeongguk was stubborn and lazily and sluggishly pointed up at the sky, throwing his head back against Jimin’s chest and wrapping his arms around Jimin’s thighs, leaving a tickling but arousing sensation with his nails. Jimin swallowed a lump in his throat as he watched Jeongguk’s arms.

“You love the stars. Let’s watch them for a bit.”

And Jimin didn’t oppose the idea because the part of him that wanted to leave agreed that Jeongguk was, without doubt the best man he could have in his life. And as his spouse. Mate, actually.

“You’re beautiful.” Jeongguk sighed as he continued to watch Jimin's jaw from below, loving the view. “I’m so lucky, you’re so kind and everything else I lack. You make me feel so fulfilled, Jiminnie.” Jeongguk moved to sit on the same stair as Jimin.

Jimin couldn’t keep the wide smile off his face; as shy as he was he couldn’t help but feel flattered and yes; Jimin wanted to be all those things Jeongguk wasn’t because that meant he filled in the gaps Jeongguk had because Jeongguk filled gaps Jimin had. Yoongi and Taehyung crossed his mind and their matching – they were perfect for each other. That day he met Yoongi he wondered if Jeongguk and him were complementing each other, if they looked like they belonged with each other but Jimin didn’t care about how they looked together anymore because Jimin could feel it – he belonged with Jeongguk and the older idiot belong with him.

“I feel the same way about you, Jeongguk.” Jimin muttered, not feeling that embarrassed anymore because he wasn’t lying, he was always told not be ashamed of what he felt because there was nothing wrong with that. Everyone had that right – to feel.

Jeongguk carefully leaned forward, feeling braver in his barely awake state. Jimin smiled and placed his hands on Jeongguk’s shoulders when he noticed he seemed a bit unstable to keep him from falling forward and crushing him. He giggled when Jeongguk’s lips hovered over his. Jeongguk grinned widely, glancing up at Jimin before settling his lips against his.

Jeongguk could swear on his pride (that’s quite serious and big) that Jimin’s lips were softer than the clouds; softer than the skin on his neck; softer than the silk he wanted to buy back in the city but it was so expensive. Just like Jimin’s lips. Jeongguk’s personal treasure, personal softest treasure no one else got to feel.

Jimin watched with wide eyes when Jeongguk jumped back away from him and squealed, covering his face with his hands like a little shy kid. “What?” Jimin muttered, amused by the act.

“Your lips, Jiminnie!” Jeongguk squealed more while Jimin laughed. “What about-“ Jimin didn’t get to finish because Jeongguk kissed him again, this time more stable and stronger, determined. Jimin sighed into the kiss making Jeongguk stop. “What?”

Jimin shook his head, moving closer to sit between his legs. “I feel so nice with you. Thank you.”

Jeongguk grinned cheekily, shrugging and waving him off. “Anytime.” The two laughed and shared kisses for a long time into the night, watching the stars. Jeongguk stole kisses frequently, finding it hard to stay away from Jimin’s lips that were like drugs. Plus he knew for sure Jimin didn’t mind it so, yeah, of course he’d drown in the permission.

“Want to go home tomorrow?” Jeongguk asked at some point, remembering he had to ask Jimin’s mother a few questions. Jimin’s head snapped towards him, his eyes wide and he looked like he wanted to cry. “Really?”

Jeongguk nodded. “Yeah, uh... I think we should talk to your mother about your father.”

Jeongguk noticed the look on Jimin’s face wasn’t one of confusion. Shouldn’t Jimin ask why should they talk about his father? “Jimin? Do you know anything... weird about your father?”

Jimin wanted to hold his hand but ended up curling his little finger around Jeongguk’s. Jeongguk didn’t hesitate to envelop Jimin’s hands in his, letting him know he’d be there no matter what he says. “Jimin? You can tell me anything, you know? Was he a bad person?”

Jimin sighed, raising his head to look up into his eyes. “I think you might have known him longer than I did.”

Jeongguk was quiet after Jimin told him his father was a wolf. That certainly explained a lot without Jimin having to talk. Jeongguk followed Jimin inside the house and he understood, those kinds of conversations should be had among four walls.

The wolf inside Jimin was an omega, that goes without doubt. Jeongguk pulled Jimin closer with a wide grin that made Jimin worry and relax a bit. “Jeongguk? You’re not upset?”

“No.” Jeongguk ran his thumb across the skin on Jimin’s neck, he knew exactly where the mating bite would be and he wouldn’t have to worry about killing his mate anymore. “You didn’t really lie to me, you just... I understand you just didn’t really want to accept that half of you.”

Jeongguk’s words seemed to turn the atmosphere in the cabin upside down. Jimin felt disappointed in himself, turns out his mother was right; they were no monsters. They were just different in a way that frightened humans. But they were far from evil. Those pups the older wolves were raising have to be raised to be aware of the world outside the forest and the ones who don’t belong to it, because Jimin heard Hyuna say something about people who hunt them. Humans that hunt them. Jimin would raise his kids to be like that too if it meant they were safe. Jimin understood them. More than he thought he would.

“Jeongguk, I... I accept that wolf part of me. I just... I have a lot of questions about it.” Jimin glared at nothing when he remembered the wolf going all berserk in Jeongguk’s presence.

The older boy nodded and sat properly on the couch, turning towards Jimin but not letting go of his hands. Jimin smiled at the contact that was never broken. It brought ease to his heart to see Jeongguk holding his hand no matter what. Made him believe he’d never let go. He looked up at Jeongguk with a wide smile that made the older boy smile back. Keeping a straight face in Jimin’s presence seemed like mission impossible not only for Jeongguk but for everyone else that Jimin had met.

 “Ah my Jiminnie’s so cute.”

“Why did I leave those marks on you?” Jimin asked, ignoring the redness of his cheeks that he knew was there. Jeongguk smirked. Jimin pulled his hands back from him and hit his chest. “Cocky idiot.”

“Because omegas always want alphas.” Jeongguk spoke but the smugness Jimin expected wasn’t there. Jeongguk seemed serious and Jimin appreciated it. “The wolf inside me is an omega?” Jimin hid his face as he asked, luring a laugh from Jeongguk.

“Yeah, appears to be. Betas are usually with betas, it’s rare for them to end up with someone else. But you-“ Jimin squealed when Jeongguk grabbed his hips and pulled him on his lap. “-You’re mine omega, I’m your alpha, you’re mine and I’m yours even without the wolves inside us.”

The silence that followed Jeongguk’s words was the most beautiful one; filled with adorning looks, eyes shining with love and appreciation and Jimin was close to crying his heart out. He felt so warm inside, he felt lighter a ton and Jeongguk caught his lips in a gentle kiss, surrounding him with clouds, a beautiful scent of winter, of cold, of everything Jimin loved and his heart returned the kiss of affection, the kiss that whispered loveto Jimin in the most beautiful way Jimin never thought he craved.

“I love you.”

Jeongguk voiced what Jimin could feel already. Jimin nodded, pressing a chaste on Jeongguk’s forehead. “I love you too.”

The next day Jimin woke up with a wide grin on his face. Surprisingly not because he was going back home to visit his family, even though it might sound a bit rude. Jimin woke up happy because of the face that greeted him.

“Morning.” Jeongguk whispered, raising his hand to push hair strands from Jimin’s face, his thumb caressing his cheek. Jimin had to admit pieces of his fantasies were slowly coming to life, probably even more than his fantasies because Jeongguk was someone Jimin thought didn’t exist.

“Morning.” Jimin whispered even quieter, his words running over Jeongguk’s lips and leaving Jeongguk itching for a kiss. Which he got.

The couch was small and the two of them fitted by squishing closely, although they didn’t mind. Jimin knew he fell asleep dangerously close to the edge, with Jeongguk’s arm holding him but he woke up between Jeongguk and the couch. Jimin placed another kiss against Jeongguk’s lips when he thought that Jeongguk actually did switch their places. Jeongguk didn’t mind, he giggled while sneaking his arms around Jimin’s narrow waist and pulled him on top of him, startling the younger boy who laughed.

“I should go and wake Minhyuk up.” Jimin mumbled into the kisses, hitting Jeongguk who didn’t allow him to speak. “Jeongguk!”

“Lisa and Hyuna took him out awhile ago while you were sleeping.” “What?” “Yeah, I told them yesterday we’re going to visit your family so they offered to take care of him today.” “I slept like a rock.” “I know. I’m glad you didn’t wake up, I love to see you well rested.”

“Jeongguk I’ve been doing nothing but resting since I came here. I should find something interesting to do.” “You can help Bom.” “God, no.”

Jimin quickly shook his head, his face morphing into a frown Jeongguk couldn’t help but laugh at. “Did she scare you that much?” “Yes! She was all bloody when I came to ask for her help the other day! And she cut open a body! A dead body! Jeongguk she’s scary!” Jimin whined, hugging the older boy and hiding his face in the crook of Jeongguk’s neck. Jeongguk cooed at the pout and hugged him tighter.

“Have no fears in my arms, Jimin. I’d lay down my life for you.” Jeongguk kissed the top of his head and Jimin glared.

“Don’t say stuff like that. I’ve just found you.”

Jeongguk chuckled. “You’re telling me you’ve been looking for me?” “More like waiting.” Jimin rolled his eyes and stood up.

“Jiminnie, Lisa might need help preparing everything for the bonfire.” “Bonfire?” “Yeah, father said he wanted to celebrate me finding my mate finally, although it was done recklessly. But he liked you and he wanted to celebrate it. Uh, but the mating season is right around the corner and wolves are really distracted so she really doesn’t have enough wolves to help her.”

Jimin nodded. “Sure, I’ll help.”

Jeongguk wondered if Jimin’s heat would come with the mating season. He prayed with his wolf.

Jimin was over the sky when he saw his brother at the door. But he didn’t expect of him to fall backwards and end up unconscious. Jeongguk laughed as he carried him to the couch while Jimin hurried upstairs to greet his mother.

“Jiminnie?”

He couldn’t remember being hugged so tightly ever before by his mother. Or maybe it was the yearning of his heart during his days in the pack. Either way he missed his mother’s arms and they were as warm and comforting as he remembered.

Jihyun and Minji ended up crying, hugging Jimin like he came back from the dead. Jeongguk apologized for being the reason, his chest hurt from all the tears but Jimin told him he was forgiven (with a wink). Jeongguk told them he’d be bringing Jimin over often since he didn’t want to carry the weight of his in-laws mourning Jimin like he was dead.

Jeongguk was sure Jimin was even more than alive.

Once Jihyun said he wanted to take Jimin to see the neighbours Jeongguk took it as his chance to talk to Minji about Jimin. Minji knew why Jeongguk stayed behind, there was no other reason but Jimin.

When the door closed Jeongguk turned towards her with a small smile which she returned kindly. “That night I came to take Jimin you didn’t fight to hold him back. At first I just thought you didn’t see me as a monster others did but two suns ago... something happened. It changed my opinion of you.” Jeongguk started casually, trying not to come off as accusing.

Minji’s smile wavered. “Something happened to my son? Did he do something?”

Jeongguk smiled despite the red cheeks. “You know who Jimin’s father is, right?”

She nodded, her gaze falling on her hands that were resting on her lap. “Of course I know that. Youngjae was his name. How old are you now, Jeongguk?” “Twenty three winters.” “Twenty three. You were younger than three winters when I came to your pack. Grandfather was the leader back then.” Jeongguk nodded. “My father’s the leader now.” “What’s his name?” “Junghyun.”

Minji raised an eyebrow. “Really?” She smiled. “Junghyun was Youngjae’s best friend. They spent a lot of time together, Youngjae and I played with you a lot.” Jeongguk’s eyes widened. “I think I remember him.” Minji nodded. “Youngjae is Jimin’s and Jihyun’s father. I was still carrying them when Youngjae stopped coming. I never found out what happened to him. Did he...” Minji’s voice broke but Jeongguk quickly comforted her, sitting beside her and hugging her.

Jeongguk shook his head. “He loved you, you know that.” Jeongguk patted her back. “But... Youngjae went missing for three winters. I was six when father found his body.”

Jeongguk stayed quiet as she cried, holding tightly onto him. “Why? How? Who did it?” Minji tried her best to wipe the tears away and remain as strong as she always had been but Jeongguk understood. Without being a wolf Minji felt that connection to Youngjae, Jeongguk could see a faint scar peaking beneath her collar.

“We don’t know. But Jimin and Jihyun are part wolves too, you knew that. Have you ever noticed anything strange about them? We found out that Jimin is an omega.” Jeongguk knew smiling wasn’t appropriate in front of someone who had just found out their mate was dead for a long time. But the corners of his lips quirked up involuntarily. “I’m sorry.” He looked away and covered his face with his hands.

Minji shook her head with a sad smile. “It’s okay, I understand that feeling. I’m so happy for Jimin.” Jeongguk panicked when she started to cry again, he quickly hugged her again and tried to be as comforting as he could.

“What is Jihyun then?” Minji asked once she calmed down again. Jeongguk shrugged. “I don’t really know but we can try to find out once they come back.” Minji nodded. “I see. How far did you and Jimin get?” Minji asked suddenly, surprising Jeongguk and embarrassing him.

“W-What do you mean?” “You know what I mean Jeongguk! Come on, tell me! I’ve been there before! You can trust this old woman.” She winked and Jeongguk couldn’t help but laugh at her.

One’s spirit can never fall victim to age, Grandfather would often say. Well, he’d always say that to help Jeongguk out of trouble every time his father wanted to beat him. He’d remind Junghyun of the times he was a kid, how he never beat him, so he shouldn’t beat Jeongguk either. Teaching someone something can’t be done through beatings. Words, understanding, feeling and empathy – worked better than anything.

“Um, I suppose you know how... um, wolves can get pretty wild.” Jeongguk stuttered, tugging on the hair behind his head. Minji laughed and nodded. “Yes, I’m familiar with that. Jimin is shy, it might take him awhile to get use to everything.” Noticing the redness of Jeongguk’s ears and his squirming Minji gasped.

“You did it!”

“What?! No! Because I can lose control and hurt him I didn’t want to do anything against his will.” Jeongguk shook his head wildly, raising his hands in a reassuring manner.

Minji pouted, her shoulder slouching. “But I want grandchildren.”

Jeongguk choked on his spit. “That’s not really up to me.”

The two of the laughed, Minji ended up telling Jeongguk of Jimin’s embarrassing moments, Jeongguk would never forget those precious images in his head of a toddler Jimin running around and laughing.

The moment was interrupted when Jihyun and Jimin came inside, laughing and talking about something. Minji observed as Jeongguk watched Jimin with shiny eyes screaming love and adoration. For a moment she felt like crying because twenty years ago she looked at her mate like that, and now he was gone. Actually had been gone for a long time but Minji always hoped, she wanted Youngjae to be alive, she wanted him to see the pups at least.

“Had fun?” Jeongguk asked. Jimin nodded with a grin as he sat down beside his mother. She wrapped her arms around him and as always her hands ended up in her son’s soft hair, scratching his head. Jeongguk chuckled as he watched Jimin relax and close his eyes.

His attention was stolen by Jihyun who plopped loudly on the armchair in front of Jeongguk. Jihyun raised an eyebrow when he caught Jeongguk looking at him. “Anything interesting?”

“Not really.” Jeongguk replied, smirking  at the annoyed face Jihyun displayed. “You seriously deal with him?” Jihyun asked Jimin.

Jimin and Minji laughed while Jeongguk glared at him. Inhaling the scent of the idiot in front of him Jeongguk sighed in defeat. Nothing but human scents. Tainted by Jimin’s. Jeongguk turned to look at his mate who was giggling about something his mother said and that Jeongguk didn’t hear.

Jihyun watched Jeongguk, in awe at the emotions that swirled in the warm gaze directed towards Jimin. It was cute, something Jihyun rarely had chance to see. And it was also disgusting.

“Did anyone else worry about me?” Jimin asked and it made Jihyun snap out of his somehow admiring and maybe a bit jealous thoughts.

“Uh, yeah, of course, we all worried. I think Minho said something about the group going to the lake so they’ll be home before sun sets. You’re staying that long, right?” Jihyun asked but his challenging glare was set on Jeongguk. Jeongguk rolled his eyes.

“Yes, we’re staying till the night falls.”

“How did you leave the forest with the Sun still in the sky?”

Jeongguk shrugged at Jihyun’s question. “I think it’s because of my connection with Jimin. In the past few moons we were able to leave the forest without the Sun even beginning to set.”

“It all started when Jimin left to the forest!” Jihyun exclaimed, his eyes wide as he stared at his brother.

Jeongguk’s eyebrows furrowed as he shook his head. “No, it has nothing to do with Jimin. Maybe for me it is because of Jimin but the curse is wearing off.”

“Does that mean you’ll be coming to the village during the day? You haven’t come since Jimin left.”

Jeongguk could smell the little bit of fear the boy was feeling but it was overtaken by Jimin’s worry and maybe a bit of disappointment. Jeongguk glanced at him, reminding himself that an upset Jimin meant a heartbroken Jeongguk and that didn’t feel nice.

“After years of being trapped in a forest you think we’ll have interest in you people? So many things to see, to witness, to find out – you think you’re that valuable?” Jeongguk quickly composed himself and realized he was talking to his mate’s family. “I mean, not that you’re worthless, I didn’t mean it in that way – more like, we have things we want to see ourselves and they – uh-“

“-We understand.” Jimin giggled as he walked over to him and sat down, holding his hand tightly in reassurance. Jeongguk sighed in relief, letting his head fall forward. Minji laughed at the relieved expression on his face. Jimin nodded for him to relax. “We understand what you meant, Jeongguk. It’s okay.”

Jimin’s other hand rested around the back of Jeongguk’s neck and the boy relaxed and nodded in understanding. “Okay.” He whispered, his eyes slowly closing as Jimin massaged his neck.

Jihyun looked at his mother who was grinning widely at the couple. Jihyun rolled his eyes and at the same moment the door opened.

“Jihyun oppa!” Momo giggled as she slammed the door shut and casually bounced into the living room. Jimin was confused as he looked at Jihyun and his mother. Both of them exchanged embarrassed looks before Jihyun glared at her.

“Jimin, I forgot to mention I rented your room to this traveller. Momo, this is my brother, Jimin and his... uh husband?” Jihyun watched as Jeongguk nodded proudly, his hand moving around Jimin’s waist while Jimin shyly smiled.

Momo smiled and waved. “Hello, Jihyun never mentioned you!” Momo walked over to Jimin and sat down beside him.

Jeongguk dismissed her as any other human friend in the beginning but the moment he lost his sense of smell he almost strangled her there and then. He pulled Jimin closer to his side, having him leaning against him as he talked. He looked at Minji who shrugged and shook her head, Jeongguk couldn’t even tell if she was uncomfortable by her smell – he was lost. Not for the first time. But for the same reason.

“Jeongguk?” Jimin noticed the iron grip around him, covering Jeongguk’s hand with his and looking at the older boy who shook his head, his eyes wide and Jimin recognized that look. The same one from that night that omega wolf came running from something. The one Jeongguk had when he talked about being helpless and afraid.

Jimin dragged him upstairs, noticing how Jeongguk didn’t want to be an inch away from him, he almost stumbled over Jimin and knocked him down. Momo watched them until they disappeared upstairs. She wiggled her eyebrows at Minji who rolled her eyes.

“Jimin seems like a sweetheart. How come you never mentioned him?”

Jihyun felt guilty for thinking that Jimin maybe wouldn’t ever come to village anymore. “You paid to stay for a few nights, not to know everything about our lives.” Minji answered, not trying to sound rude but to somehow let it get to her brain that it was none of her business why Jihyun didn’t mention Jimin.

Momo shrugged. “Well it wouldn’t hurt to get to know you people better.”

“Let’s start with you telling us the real reason you’re here.”

Jihyun never witnessed his mother talk like that. Maybe once when Jihyun got into a fight with a kid that bullied Jimin but still she didn’t seem that hostile, that was protective. This was something else. What was she trying to get out of Momo?

Momo chuckled and stood up. “Didn’t know I had to have a reason to travel and make friends.”

You don’t make friends with those ropes, Jihyun thought to himself as he remembered how they met. Minju scoffed. “Right, I’m a mother of two extremely mischievous children, I know when something is being hidden from me.”

Momo didn’t answer, didn’t even look at any of them. She left upstairs to the room she rented and while passing by one room with the door closed she couldn’t help but linger. She couldn’t hear anything but she was worried about being exposed.

Jimin stayed quiet as Jeongguk continued to quietly hold him in his arms. He didn’t ask him anything, just let him ‘enjoy his scent’ as Jeongguk always does. Jimin never knew he had a scent, sure he always smelled when he sweated or rolled in the mud or when he played with the cattle –even mother and Jihyun could smell that – but he never knew he could be ‘addictive’.

“What’s wrong?” Jimin muttered, attempting to pull away but Jeongguk pressed his lips against his neck and he had no wish to move anymore. “That woman.” Jeongguk muttered, his warm breath tickling the sensitive skin, making Jimin giggle and shy away.

“What about her?” Jimin asked, looking up to see Jeongguk didn’t look like he wanted to joke around.

“She doesn’t have a scent. The moment she walked in my nose became useless, she numbed it just like what happened that other night when we tried to find out where the omega came from. Jimin I’m worried about you.” Jeongguk almost whined, his arms pulling Jimin closer, almost melting him against his chest.

Jimin wanted to dismiss the thought, he didn’t want to go back to the pack with worry about his mom and brother. But there was no way Jeongguk would freak out over something unimportant or reckless.

“You’re saying she could be the one you’re afraid of and looking for?” “Yes. And I want to get you out of this house as soon as possible.” Jeongguk couldn’t hold back the whine this time, nipping on Jimin’s neck hurriedly like his life depended on it. Even though the woman wouldn’t be able to smell Jimin or Jeongguk on Jimin it still brought tranquillity to Jeongguk’s soul. Jimin didn’t mind, he leaned his head aside to expose his neck to him and Jeongguk couldn’t help but use his chance.

Jimin gasped, holding his breath as Jeongguk nipped on his jugular. Jeongguk smiled, not wanting to drag Jimin’s omega out while they were visiting his family. Jeongguk stayed quiet and stared at Jimin who was waiting patiently for Jeongguk to mark him, his eyes closed and lips parted slightly, not breathing and still waiting. Jeongguk kissed his cheek sloppily, snapping Jimin out of his want.

Jimin glared and slapped Jeongguk’s shoulder while the older boy laughed. “Can we continue this at home?” Jeongguk pouted as he asked, buckling his knees to appear shorter to Jimin. When Jimin giggled and nodded Jeongguk knew he’d have to be shorter a lot more often.

“Jiminnie!”

Jeongguk was surprised by the sudden screams from somewhere but he managed to see a group of boys before Jimin was tackled to the ground. He thought about leaving them like that and letting Jimin bath in the love his friends bore for him but the thought of Jimin laying underneath the pile probably hurt made him to the opposite.

He pushed the boys away and pulled Jimin up to stand, dusting his clothes and glaring at the boys who were also standing up. Jimin was embarrassed and touched at the same time.

“He almost got hurt.” Jeongguk scolded them but they ignored him and proceeded to hug Jimin. Jimin shrugged with a pout at Jeongguk who rolled his eyes but smiled.

“Hyung we were so worried!” Minho hugged Jimin’s waist. “We thought you were gone!” Sehun held his right arm. “Not even Jihyun knew if you’d come back!” Minseok held his left arm. Myungsoo was the only one not smothering Jimin and smiling while standing a foot away. “We’re glad you can come home.” Myungsoo smiled, nodding to Jeongguk in gratitude who nodded back.

Jimin shrugged them all off and glared playfully. “Don’t you even want to meet the guy you thought wasn’t so bad?” Jimin moved towards Jeongguk but the guys held him back. As expected Jeongguk reacted by glaring and clenching his fists, growling in the back of his throat, ready to take them down for holding his mate away from him but waited for the final straw.

The boys stood in front of Jimin, their arms crossed and narrowing their eyes at him. Minho was doing a great job, he was the only one Jeongguk saw as a potential threat but Sehun and Minseok were barely pups. Myungsoo didn’t even try, instead he finally walked over to Jimin to hug him.

“You don’t look dangerous.” Minho eyed him, raising his eyebrow. Jeongguk smirked, his fists itching to punch the kid and show him just how dangerous he could be. He could tell they weren’t seriously separating him from Jimin – not like they were able to – but Jeongguk didn’t like the feeling of standing away from him. Especially with idiots standing between them.

“Jiminnie hyung helped Myungsoo get married, he’s a golden friend.” Minseok willed himself to speak, his voice gentle and even though he didn’t mean it as a threat Jeongguk could hear the honesty. Jimin nudged them all but they barely glanced at them. Myungsoo whispered something to Jimin, not even Jeongguk’s ears could pick it up. “We love Jiminnie hyung, we don’t want him to get hurt.”

“You think I’d hurt him?” Jeongguk asked, instead of punching them like rag dolls Jeongguk settled for bitting the inside of his cheek. “Think again, dip.”

“Jeongguk!” Jimin scolded, raising his index finger in a warning. Jeongguk felt betrayed as his shoulders slouched, his eyes widening in regret and fear that he annoyed his mate, he was just trying to get Jimin by his side again. He didn’t do anything wrong.

Unexpectedly they all laughed at the sight, making Jeongguk glare at them. Jimin finally walked over to him while laughing, leaning against him for support. Jeongguk wrapped his hands around him and smirked smugly at the kids, of course his Jimin would come to him.

“Cute.”

Upon hearing one of Jimin’s friends comment he glared. Jimin hit his chest in warning, shaking his head. “Be nice, they’re joking.” Jimin whispered, sliding his hand in Jeongguk’s. The act alone would have got him to calm down.

Jeongguk grinned, looking at the kids without menace from before, no longer having a need to fight them because with Jimin’s hand in his he had already won.

“Hyung, we just got back from the lake. It was really boring without you.” Sehun pouted.

“Ah, I haven’t been at the lake in a while.” Jimin glanced at Jeongguk with a raised eyebrow. Jeongguk rolled his eyes with a smile. “Do you want to go?” Jeongguk asked, knowing the answer already. Jimin giggled and nodded, also knowing Jeongguk would ask.

The kids cheered and lead the way. Myungsoo lingered behind to talk to the two and Jeongguk couldn’t help but like the boy who was more mature than the rest, after all it was easier to talk to people who didn’t act like brats.

“Hoseok hyung went to the city, I think he should be back tomorrow. He’ll be really sad to know he missed a chance to see you.” Myungsoo smiled. Jimin sighed.

Jeongguk chuckled “Don’t worry, Jimin will be visiting the village. I didn’t steal him, I just uh... humans marry each other, right?” Jeongguk whispered the question in Jimin’s ear but Myungsoo heard.

Both of them laughed at Jeongguk who couldn’t help but laugh along, half embarrassed but half happy he wasn’t that awkward. “Yes, Jeongguk. But we’re not married yet.” Jimin raised an eyebrow while smirking. “Yet.” Jeongguk emphasized, also smirking.

Instead of enjoying the moon like she always does this time Momo can’t help but feel annoyed. Minji was rude, Jimin seemed nice but his husband was possessive, weird and maybe a bit mysterious. Overall it was Jihyun who disappointed her the most. He could’ve at least been nice to her.

“Hey.”

She looked up at Jihyun. He had been standing behind a tree for a while, watching her and it was about damn time he came out. It was extremely annoying but Momo wanted to ignore him in any way possible.

Without greeting him back she looked up at the sky. It was clear of clouds, leaving a breathtaking view of constellations. Momo loved to watch the sky despite spending more of her nights looking around and taking out danger. Coming to the village seemed like a chance to take a short break despite coming once she heard about monsters.

Jihyun sat down beside her, not taking that much interest in the beauty above as much as he was in the one in front of him. “I was rude to you back there. Sorry.”

Momo stayed quiet, not showing any signs of acknowledging him.

Jihyun sighed and nodded. “I deserved that. But I don’t know anything about you, I don’t think it’s fair of me to tell you everything about me.” Jihyun waited patiently because even though he felt guilty for being rude he didn’t feel guilty about not saying anything about his family. Plus they weren’t entirely a normal family.

What was he supposed to say about his father? Then about himself and his brother? Yeah, my father was a monster I grew up to be afraid of but on the other hand I’m not that afraid because I’m also half that same monster. Nope, nothing to hesitate about.

“That’s fair.” Momo muttered, looking at her nails in boredom. Jihyun smiled.

“Jimin married Jeongguk not too long. We’re still getting used to his new life. And his... husband.” Jihyun cleared his throat and quickly smiled when she glanced at him.

“Jimin seemed nice. You’re alike. Twins, right?” Jihyun smiled and nodded, usually people took a few days to guess they were twins because they didn’t really look alike that much.

Enough to look like they were related. They didn’t share similar personalities, Jimin was born before Jihyun, the moment he found out he was older he turned into a father figure to Jihyun, he took care of him, he protected him, taught him how to do things properly, tried to teach him to forgive and get along with everyone but that’s where they were different.

Jihyun was the one who couldn’t forgive everyone, he was the younger brother who sometimes had to be older and teach Jimin that not all people who make mistakes deserve to be forgiven and hugged. Jimin strongly believed everyone deserves a second chance, everyone has the right to realize their mistakes and repent but Jihyun could never do the same. That’s why Jihyun was more of an older brother when he grew up enough to fight others – Jimin was a magnet for kids and people who loved to taint innocence, people often tried to fool him, steal from him, hurt him – Jihyun was always there to save them from people like that.

Jimin was an angel, but if Jihyun had to be the devil in order for Jimin to be happy then he would be one.

“I had an older sister.” Momo started, the boredom replaced with longing and sadness. Jihyun thought about moving closer and hugging her but knew better. “She was twenty winters old when she died. Killed by wolves, ripped to shreds, leaving nothing but blood behind. I was twelve when she died.”

Jihyun couldn’t see tears in her eyes, he started to wonder if she was maybe making the story up but there was something in her eyes - memories - that made him believe her.

“We were supposed to celebrate a friend’s birthday, she went to the forest to pick some flowers as a gift. When we heard the wolves were seen the men took their weapons and went to kill them, we all stayed behind to hide but my older sister was nowhere to be seen. Later, when the men returned they...” Momo let out a shaky breath, looking away so Jihyun wouldn’t see her tears.

“They couldn’t bring her because she was ripped to shreds. I watched people put her remaining body parts on a pile and that’s what I buried. I buried my own blood in pieces.”

Jihyun didn’t hesitate as he pulled her in a hug this time, not uttering a word because he knew no amount of words could help. Momo didn’t cry as he expected of her to do, instead she closed her eyes and enjoyed the warmth of another person.

“Can’t remember the last time someone hugged me.” Momo muttered with a sigh. Jihyun shrugged.

“You go around tackling people.”

Momo laughed, hitting Jihyun’s shoulder. “That wasn’t on purpose!”

“Right -uh, you swept me off my feet?” Jihyun placed the back of his hand dramatically against his forehead, the other one on his chest, clutching his heart. Momo laughed, loving the side of Jihyun she hadn’t known existed.

“You’re funny! Why aren’t you like this more often?” “I am like this most of the time! You just spend a lot of time out of sight to see me.” Jihyun stuck his tongue out.

Momo nodded in agreement. “Okay, that’s true but we technically live under the same roof.” “Again, you’re not home that often. Now that I think about it you’re really suspicious.” Jihyun narrowed his eyes, his arms crossed at his chest.

“I’ve been admiring the landscapes. And I love to watch sunsets and dawns, the stars and the moon, I’m a person who loves nature.” Momo shrugged. Jihyun pouted. “It’s dangerous outside at night.”

“I can defend myself really well.” “I don’t doubt that, I didn’t even see you and I was on the ground but-“ “-Can you let that go!?”

Jihyun met Momo that night, properly. Momo met Jihyun that night. Even though Jihyun had no idea where she came from, if she was really in the village because she travelled – but after listening to her stories about her travels and life and experience Jihyun couldn’t help but feel more comfortable.

Jeongguk probably would have looked like a creep if someone saw him. He was carrying Jimin on his back home, replaying the images of Jimin jumping around with his friends and enjoying the warm water of the lake. After changing his clothes at home he was too tired to move and Jeongguk didn’t think twice before he picked him up and carried him away. It was late, they stayed behind longer than Jeongguk intended to. But Jimin was happy. It was one of the reasons they came.

He thanked the Moon above his head for the wonderful life he had now that Jimin was in it. He didn’t expect of Jimin to be half omega, he didn’t expect of their wolves to be so damn compatible that Jimin warmed up to him in a couple of day. Jeongguk never believed wolves bounded them to each other, he considered wolves inside them as friendly guides that actually helped them find someone compatible with them because it’d be hard to live with someone who smelled weird for example.

That’s why it’s dangerous for Jimin to be so easily smelled, he could smell good to anyone so anyone could be his potential mate. Jeongguk couldn’t help but wonder if Jimin would accept someone other than Jeongguk.

Jeongguk left Jimin to sleep, tucked him in nicely and locked the door before going to Bom. He had so much to tell her, about Jimin’s smile, his laugh, how happy he was, how Jeongguk almost decked his friends, how friendly they were in the end.

But it seemed like he wouldn’t be telling anyone about that in a while. Bom opened the door, her eyes red from crying and her cheeks stained with tears. “Noona? What’s wrong?” Jeongguk stepped inside, hugging her at the door and noticing the most of alphas in her cabin. He had no idea what happened, everything was fine when he left.

Bom took his hand and dragged him to a room. Jeongguk didn’t talk, didn’t even look at the males who were already busy discussing something, his father listening carefully to the ideas that were proposed. He heard someone say ‘attack’ before Bom closed the door.

“Noona what happened?” Jeongguk started to panic because Bom never cried before. Never.

The woman burst out crying, throwing her arms around Jeongguk and sobbing loudly. Jeongguk’s heart skipped a beat as he had no idea what to think of the situation. “Did we find another body? Did someone from the pack get hurt?”

Jeongguk didn’t get the answers immediately but didn’t rush the woman to answer. Whatever happened was a big deal, Bom had never cried before. And she had seen things worth crying for.

“Jeongguk... after I tell you what happened today you’re going to go home, hug Jimin and never let him out of your sight. Okay?” Bom moved away, wiping her cheeks only for more tears to roll. Jeongguk nodded, fighting back the urge to run out of the cabin to hug Jimin like she said.

“Dara is missing. She’s been gone for a few moons and I never noticed.” Bom turned away from Jeongguk, her voice cracking as she tried her best to stop but the guilt ripped her from inside.

Dara spent most of her time around Bom, checking up on her and taking care of her yet she failed to notice Dara was gone. What kind of friend fails to do that? To notice someone important is missing in their life?

“What do you mean Dara is missing? Gone?” “Yes, Jeongguk. Dara is missing like several other wolves who had disappeared in the past twenty years. Your father is already working out the plans, alphas are ready to scout the forest and rip anything moving to shreds, I don’t think any omega or any pup will be left alone after tonight and it’s for the best. Junghyun advised for you not to leave the pack anymore. Yoongi already offered for Jimin to be with Taehyung while you’re out. Please just...”

Jeongguk held Bom in his arms as she threatened to fall, she felt weak and defeated, like Dara was the only one that kept her standing and she let her slip so easily. “Go.” Bom pushed Jeongguk away, looking into his eyes. “Explain it to Jimin, I already told Junghyun I’d fill you in with this. Go now, the entire pack is blocked from tonight.”

Jimin was woken up without the Sun. It was completely dark in the room and it was the first time it happened. It felt unpleasant and Jimin was scared. With Jeongguk on his mind he set his feet on the cold floor and stood up, leaving the warmth of the bed.

“Where are you going?”

Jimin screeched at the voice from the corner of the room. He fell back on the bed and clutched his chest, feeling his heart thumping against it. Jeongguk quickly walked over to him and fell on his knees in front of him.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Jimin rested his hands on Jeongguk’s shoulders while Jeongguk hugged his waist, his head resting against Jimin’s sternum, listening to his heart beat like crazy. “I am really sorry.” Jeongguk muttered, listening to the heart slow down until it was steady and he couldn’t help but smile.

“You creep, did you watch me sleep?” Jimin tangled his fingers in Jeongguk’s hair and held tightly. Jeongguk winced but couldn’t help but laugh. “No, I was just making sure you’re okay.”

“Why wouldn’t I be okay in our cabin?”

Jeongguk grinned when he heard Jimin call it their cabin. Jimin rolled his eyes because he knew the reason behind Jeongguk’s happiness. But as Jeongguk remembered to answer the question the smile faltered. Jeongguk took Jimin’s hands in his and sighed.

“Jiminnie, the pack is blocked out. One beta has gone missing a few moons ago.”

Jimin’s eyes widened. “What? Who?”

“Bom’s friend, Dara.”

“I didn’t meet her. There are no tracks?”

“We’re going to check the forest tomorrow. I’ll take you over to Taehyung since Yoongi is also coming with me.” “What about Minhyuk? Is he still with Lisa?”

“Yes, he’s safe, don’t worry. I was just... I couldn’t get the thought about losing you out of my head. I’m so worried about you, Jiminnie.” Jeongguk murmured, moving to sit next to him, holding his hand tightly.

“Don’t be, I’m safe in the cabin. And I’ll be safe with Taehyung. That’s why you were staring at me while I was sleeping?” Jimin feigned a disgusted look which made Jeongguk laugh. He tackled Jimin on the bed and held him tightly against his chest.

“I just don’t want to hear from someone you’re gone. I think I’d die.”

Jimin pinched his arm. “You wouldn’t look for me? You’d give up that easily? Aish.” Jimin turned his back to Jeongguk who pulled him closer against his chest. Jeongguk sighed against Jimin’s ear, feeling heavy as he relaxed.

“You know I’d fight the world for you. When it comes to you there’s no opponent I’d hesitate to take on. You’ll be the death of me, Jiminnie.”

Jimin stayed quiet, Jeongguk could feel his body becoming hot and he laughed.

“I don’t want you to die because of me.”

“Well I don’t want to live a life without you.”

Jimin pouted, turning around to look at him. “Not both of us have to leave this world, you know?”

“I don’t think I’d be able to sleep alone, wake up alone, smile alone, enjoy life alone. Not after experiencing all of this with you. I don’t want to.”

Jimin smiled, moving forward and placing a gentle kiss against Jeongguk’s lips. Jeongguk smiled back, grabbing Jimin and rolling aside to have Jimin lying on top of him. “I’m heavy!” Jimin giggled.

“No, you’re too light. I should force you to eat in the future.” Jeongguk laughed, looking down at Jimin who was glaring.

 “Jeongguk.”

 “Jimin.”

Jeongguk wiggled his eyebrows teasingly, shaking Jimin’s hips. Jimin giggled, moving his legs to straddle him. Jeongguk smirked, not bothered by the position. If anything he enjoyed it.

“Jeongguk, you’re an idiot.” Jimin grabbed his wrists and pinned them down. Jeongguk’s smirk widened into a grin as Jimin leaned down and his lips hovered over Jeongguk’s. Jeongguk stole a quick kiss, thinking that Jimin hesitated. Jimin on the other hand glared. “I didn’t want to kiss you.”

Jeongguk pouted. “Why? Didn’t I deserve a kiss? I just told you I’d die for you.”

Jimin stayed quiet. Ignoring Jeongguk’s words he leaned his head lower against Jeongguk’s jaw, breathing in the scent from the scent glands. Jimin shivered. Jeongguk sighed, trying to hold his hips but Jimin wouldn’t let go of his wrists. “Jimin...” Jeongguk’s eyes fluttered shut when he felt Jimin’s lips over his neck, nipping and at it.

For a moment he thought it was Jimin’s omega leading him to do that but Jimin sat up and grinned, letting go of Jeongguk’s wrists, looking pretty much conscious and teasing. He clicked his tongue and raised an eyebrow at Jeongguk who realized he leaned his head aside for Jimin to mark him.

“Alpha.”

Jeongguk’s eyes widened. He looked up at Jimin with unfocused eyes, filled with red freckles before he smirked, confusing the younger boy.

Jimin squealed when Jeongguk grabbed his wrists and switched their positions, pinning Jimin down. Jimin swallowed quietly when he saw the darkness in Jeongguk’s eyes. There was a certain scent in the air and Jimin couldn’t help but take in a whiff. His throat burned for something, his lips wanted someone’s, his body yearned for someone. He arched his back, finding Jeongguk easily who leaned down and pressed him against the bed.

Jeongguk groaned at the scent of sweet roses and grass, stronger than ever before, calling him and luring him in. “You’re... Jiminnie.” Jeongguk’s hands moved to Jimin’s hips, sliding beneath the thin shirt and caressing the smooth skin that was burning beneath his fingertips. Jimin mewled, his hands wrapping around Jeongguk’s neck and pulling him closer, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss.

The air was thick around them, filled with both of their heavy aroused scents. Jimin let go of Jeongguk and ed his shirt, finding the fabric too rough and hot against his skin. Jeongguk chuckled. He knew he wanted to mark Jimin, he felt he had to do it before something happened, it was the best way for him to know how Jimin felt, the mating bite would provide the link strong enough. But he didn’t want Jimin to be in pain.

His kisses started out soft and light, nothing more but chaste but Jimin’s hunger didn’t seem to be sated. So Jeongguk’s kisses became longer, rougher – until they turned into nips and bites, drawing blood and leaving dark bruises Jeongguk was satisfied with. With a mind filled with Jimin’s gasps and moans Jeongguk subconsciously bit down to leave a mating mark. Jimin’s nails dug into his shoulders, face confronting into one of pain but he didn’t tell Jeongguk to stop. Jeongguk wanted to apologize, if it weren’t for Jimin’s hands strongly locked around his neck he’d probably be jumping be off the bed.

“I’m-“ Jeongguk’s apology died on his tongue as Jimin leaned his head aside, exposing his neck and whispering for more. His hand moved from Jeongguk’s neck to cup his cheeks. “Jiminnie.”

Jimin stared back at him, eyes shining and pupils wide. He smiled up at Jeongguk. “I want to be yours.” It wasn’t Jimin’s omega side, it was entirely Jimin. Maybe driven by his omega’s instinct to submit and want Jeongguk but Jeongguk knew it was still Jimin.

Jeongguk wondered if he was dreaming. Jimin seemed pretty real and lovely, waiting for Jeongguk to move, to mark him. Jeongguk kissed Jimin, noticing he smeared a bit of blood on his lips but it only made his lips stand out. He traced kisses along his cheek, his jaw, his throat until he reached the teeth marks he left. Without giving it much thought he sunk his teeth deeper into the flesh, not feeling Jimin’s nails in his arms.

Jimin could feel his bones become lighter, his entire body, he felt breathless for a moment, weak even. Despite feeling like huge weigh was lifted off him he felt something seep in and nest in his chest, his entire body then – Jeongguk, Jimin breathed calmly, he could feel Jeongguk in his entire body.

But then his senses kicked again, stronger and sharper but he could only feel Jeongguk’s scent mingling with his. It was there, he could see it; roses blooming bright red, bright green leaves and thorns in the snow, the bloody mark of something defying the cold and looking ethereal.

Jimin smiled, Jeongguk knew it hurt, he’d probably have to stay in bed for a day or two because Jeongguk had no idea he bit so hard. “Sorry.” Jeongguk whispered as he the wound clean, rubbing his thumb soothingly over Jimin’s hipbones. Jeongguk was worried when Jimin didn’t react. He looked up to see Jimin trying to blink away sleep but it was stronger than him.

Jeongguk hurried to clean his wound, pulling the bloodied furs from beneath Jimin and throwing them on the ground before pulling a few covers over them, pulling Jimin’s warm body against his and nuzzling the mark. He fell asleep with a smile on his face. Jimin’s hand found his and their fingers tangled together. Jeongguk could smell himself on Jimin, this time he knew the scent wouldn’t leave Jimin’s body. He knew it would be there until the end.

Taehyung giggled like a child when he saw the mark on Jimin’s neck. Jimin tried to hide it but even without seeing the mark Jeongguk’s scent was way too strong. Jeongguk’s arm was draped over Jimin’s shoulders, careful of the fresh mark. A wide smile was on his face that turned into a smug smirk once he saw Taehyung and Yoongi. Jimin blushed and kept nudging the older boy who giggled and looked at him with the most lovable look Taehyung had ever seen Jeongguk give someone.

“They’re so cute! I’ve never seen Jeongguk so happy! Can you smell his happiness!? And Jimin smells like Jeongguk, oh Moon this is the second thing I’ve been waiting for my whole life! Finally!” Taehyung grabbed the collar of Yoongi’s shirt and shook him, making the alpha pinch his nose in annoyance but he had learned to deal with that a long time ago.

Taehyung threw himself at the pair, pulling their heads against his chest while he cried ugly. “My babies! You made me so happy and proud! I had no idea I could be like this! Yoongi bear come and congratulate the newly mated wolves! Well, not really wolves-“ Taehyung groaned when Jeongguk pinched his stomach.

Jeongguk glared at him as he pulled Jimin away and wrapped his arms around his waist. Jimin settled against Jeongguk’s chest, not finding it embarrassing but rather calming once Yoongi came closer. Yoongi’s scent was strange, made Jimin think of copper and metal, totally opposed to the pleasant one that Jeongguk carried. Jimin didn’t mean to be rude but he completely shut the two of his friends out as he nuzzled in Jeongguk’s chest, wanting to make the unpleasant scent disappear.

Taehyung squealed as he watched Jeongguk wrap his arms around Jimin, nosing against his neck. Yoongi rolled his eyes when he felt Jeongguk’s scent become stronger. He knew Jimin wanted no one else but Jeongguk because the mating bite was still fresh but they shouldn’t have left the house if Jimin couldn’t stand without Jeongguk. In the midst of Jeongguk scenting Jimin and calming him down, reassuring him with his scent, Yoongi felt Taehyung’s hand sneak in his.

“We were like that three winters ago.” Taehyung muttered, eyes glinting as he reminisced the night of the full moon, Yoongi’s shy attempt to ask nicely but Taehyung jumped him and ordered him to mark him. Not that Yoongi minded but the story about Taehyung being brave enough to jump him was better than the one about Yoongi being shy and afraid of rejection. No, Yoongi was a proud and confident alpha who could have had anyone, but he chose Taehyung, an omega who went around and made fun of him, challenged him and wouldn’t stand his .

Yes, Taehyung had always been a brave wolf, stood strongly behind his words and loved family over anything. The only thing Taehyung knew he’d never be able to withstand was something happening to his family. It was his nightmare, his haunting horror story. Luckily Yoongi showed himself to be worthy of someone as valuable as Taehyung. Despite always being head to head and arguing Taehyung later admitted he loved getting on Yoongi’s nerves because his scent became stronger and Yoongi admitted he didn’t really know of any other way to get closer to him. And yes, Yoongi found out a lot of things about Taehyung.

Things like; Taehyung was afraid of heights – Yoongi found out when they both competed who could climb the highest tree, Taehyung was doing well until a branch broke and he was hanging from quite a height (guess who was there to save the day); Taehyung has no food preference – Yoongi tried to prank him once with unripe fruit but Taehyung didn’t even wince, once he bumped him on purpose but didn’t mean for his bread to fall out of his basket but still Taehyung picked it up and even took a bite of the bread he picked up while circling Yoongi with a glare; Taehyung treasured friendships and family more than anything – he almost broke Yoongi’s nose when Yoongi got into a fight with Taehyung’s cousin but later found out that it was his cousin that started the fight so he visited Yoongi and apologized without shame, but he was embarrassed.

But Taehyung’s cousin’s idiocy lead the two to spend more time together, they’d sneak out of a group of friends  and be alone, they sat closer and closer to each other every time. One night Yoongi offered Taehyung his furs when Taehyung was cold but still proceeded to hug him, telling him the furs weren’t that thick. Both of them were blushing and Yoongi couldn’t recall the last time he was blushing before that but Taehyung quietly leaned into him and fell asleep to the fast beating of Yoongi’s heart.

“We’re still like that.” Yoongi smiled, squeezing Taehyung’s hand. Taehyung turned to him and pressed his lips against his.

“Alphas smitten by their omegas.” Taehyung heard Junghyun comment. With a wide grin he looked at the man who was smiling. “Alphas should also be scouting the forest.”

Jeongguk didn’t mind his father, turning his back to him as he shielded Jimin from his eyes. Jimin’s small fists were clenching Jeongguk’s shirt on his back and Taehyung cooed at the size of his hands. “So cute!” He whined, leaning against Yoongi’s shoulder.

Junghyun rolled his eyes but made no attempt to move closer to the pair, Jeongguk’s scent was strong and changing to a spicy one that warned everyone to stay away for their own wellbeing.

“We should go. I’m sorry. Taehyung and Jimin should be in a cabin.” Junghyun knew how it felt to mate, to claim someone and leave them after that. “Jeongguk you can come back earlier tonight.”

Jeongguk whined when Jimin stepped away, being the first one of the two who realized they were outside and attracting eyes. He kissed Jeongguk’s forehead, standing on his toes. Jeongguk pouted as Jimin walked over to Taehyung. Taehyung made an attempt to hug him but decided not to. Better to play it safe. Yoongi moved away from the two omegas and stood next to Jeongguk.

“Come on pup.” Yoongi dragged him away, winking at Taehyung who laughed at the sight of poor smitten Jeongguk being dragged.

Taehyung turned towards Jimin and finally wrapped his arms around him. Jimin’s hug wasn't as enthusiastic as he thought it’d be but Taehyung knew he didn’t want to be held by anyone that wasn’t Jeongguk. Taehyung couldn’t help but laugh, he was far worse than Jimin when Yoongi mated him.

Yoongi didn’t leave for six moons, they were both holed up in Taehyung’s room. No one was allowed to come in. Taehyung’s mother left food and drinks in front of the door, Taehyung apologized for his behaviour but later realized it was something natural to them. Sure, he never mated before, he never witnessed someone being mated before but he didn’t expect of himself to become an animal. Well, Yoongi didn’t mind. In the midst of their mating Yoongi told him he loved that about Taehyung, being free and not afraid, being brave and a fighter. Yoongi loved being challenged, loved improving his ego. Match made in heaven.

“Ah, pups these days.” Taehyung muttered, knowing Jimin wouldn’t be able to tell him anything about being the same when he mated. He lead Jimin back to his and Jeongguk’s cabin. There was no way in hell he’d take Jimin to Yoongi’s cabin, full of Yoongi’s scent while being apart from his mate. That wouldn’t end well. For anyone.

Jimin looked tired and sad, his arms crossed over his stomach. He felt empty, a part of him was missing and he couldn’t retrieve it. He wanted Jeongguk’s hands, he wanted to nuzzle his face in his neck and smell there where the scent is the strongest, he wanted Jeongguk to wrap his arms around him and lie in bed safe from everyone else.

Taehyung waited patiently when Jimin stopped walking, looking deep in thought. Taehyung couldn’t really relate, he spent the worst days for being without mate with his mate so he never experienced that feeling of loneliness and emptiness. Although he heard other mates talk about it. He felt sorry for Jimin and for Jeongguk, but Jeongguk picked the wrong time to leave the mark.

Taehyung’s eyes widened when Jimin started to walk backwards. “Jimin, no!” Taehyung held his hands and dragged him towards the cabin. “Taehyung, I need Jeongguk!” Jimin tried to free his hands from Taehyung’s but Taehyung shook his head and wrapped his arms around Jimin. “Jiminnie, Jeongguk has to find some bad guys, he can’t come. He has to help his father. He’ll be back soon, just relax and don’t worry. Jeongguk will be back. Don’t worry.”

Jeongguk tripped and fell but managed to land on his hands. Yoongi sighed. It was the sixth time he tripped and the second time he fell. “Kid, you’re getting on my nerves. Focus.”

Jeongguk remained emotionless, standing up and looking around, sniffing and trying to finish everything and go back home to Jimin. He couldn’t feel Jimin strongly because Jimin didn’t return the bite, Jeongguk’s neck was barely littered with fading bruises, not a real mating bite. But he could feel something, his stomach became restless and he couldn’t help but think it was just Jimin.

“Hyung, I have to go back.” Jeongguk closed his eyes, knowing he was disrespectful. Years of pack members disappearing and he wanted to give up on the search and go back to his mate. Yes, it was extremely inconsiderate of him and he wasn’t being reasonable but as someone who has a mate Yoongi would understand. Right?

Jeongguk looked at Yoongi who wasn’t looking at him. “Hyung.” “Jeongguk, I understand it’s hard but you should’ve thought about it before marking him. Dara is missing, a lot of other pack members are missing, our pack is in danger. I know it hurts but when you go back Jimin will be with Taehyung waiting for you. Dara could be somewhere dying. Jimin wanting you and having you in the end or letting Dara wait and die – which one would you be able to bear on your conscious?”

Yoongi was smart, Jeongguk should’ve known something like that would come his way. If he hadn’t asked and got the nice, friendly advice he probably would have ran back to Jimin. Jeongguk swallowed the chain of curse words and continued to sniff around, ignoring the pain in his chest – pain caused by Jimin’s longing.

“Your father said you’d be going back home earlier, remember?” Yoongi patted his back and smiled. Jeongguk nodded, forcing a smile on his face despite feeling sick in his gut because he was barely fighting back the urge to go home.

And then, a call, a howl echoed through the silence of the forest. Both Yoongi and Jeongguk traced the source of the howl, recognizing it as one of their own.

The sight on the clearing in the forest was something to behold. Alphas were circling three humans, dressed in leather and on their knees but not looking like they were afraid. Jeongguk had never seen someone look so annoyed when being captured by wolves. And they definitely knew who caught them.

Three alphas came from the forest, following Junghyun who wasted no time in punching one of them. Jeongguk raised an eyebrow, surprised but Yoongi nodded, feeling satisfied. Alphas threw something on the ground, clanking like metal.

“Traps, weapons, all without a scent.” Junghyun punched the other man, sending him to the ground groaning. “And herbs without a scent, covering it all, covering you!” The human groaned in pain when Junghyun kicked him on the ground.

Grandfather walked over to him and pulled him back. With a glare worthy of a prize Grandfather stared at the humans, alphas picking them off the ground and tying their hands. “You humans stand behind the disappearances of our loved ones.”

Jeongguk was seething under his skin, fists clenched and he killed those humans in his head several times. “We should end them.” He spoke in the midst of his thinking, turning attention towards him. A few alphas agreed, moving closer to the humans who looked frightened for the first time. Except for the one who glared.

“You should piss off, mutt.”

It was Junghyun who landed the punch again, knocking him unconscious and startling the other two hunters. “Get them out of my sight. I want all of you at you best. Their lair must be close.” Junghyun ordered,  his ice cold gaze fixed on the two hunters being picked up.

They were afraid as they were being dragged away, tied and pushed around without mercy. They didn’t deserve any.

Grandfather sighed before talking to the remaining alphas. “Do your best, we can’t let anyone else get hurt, this is crossing the line. Go, good luck.”

Jeongguk was lead by anger and thirst for blood and revenge, plus the worry about Jimin’s safety made him want to get everything over with. Yoongi shook his head as he watched Jeongguk take his clothes off and shift, wincing as he watched his bones move beneath the skin. Jeongguk dashed forward without waiting for anyone. Yoongi glanced at the alphas who were smirking at Jeongguk.

He couldn’t remember the last time he saw someone that stupid to mate in the midst of happenings like these. Jeongguk was without doubt an idiot.

Taehyung awkwardly offered another piece of cloth to Jimin.

The moment they returned to the cabin Jimin grabbed Jeongguk’s clothes and ran to the bed while crying, calling for the older boy like he carried his life away. Taehyung sat next to the bed after Jimin growled at him when he sat on the bed. Taehyung had no idea humans could growl, but he had no idea they made nests either.

Jimin ran around the house collecting Jeongguk’s clothes and threw them all on the bed and surrounded himself with furs, smiling to himself when he breathed in Jeongguk’s scent. Taehyung watched shocked, not believing his eyes. Jimin whined, his gasps turning into sobs.

“Jeongguk.” Jimin sobbed, burying his face in the pile of Jeongguk’s clothes. “I need him.”

Taehyung covered his mouth, Jimin’s scent became stronger and heavier. Scent of an omega in heat. Taehyung stood up and distanced himself from the bed, not having a wish for his own heat to be triggered. Jimin cried loudly, calling Jeongguk’s name.

He could feel how much Jeongguk wanted him, the feeling of lust was in his chest, the mark on his neck was pulsating with every heartbeat. He wanted Jeongguk, they had something to finish, Jimin knew there was something missing – Jeongguk was missing something. Jimin felt like the bite on his neck should’ve been on Jeongguk’s neck too. He wanted to cry because Jeongguk went outside without Jimin and there was nothing on Jeongguk to tell others he belonged to Jimin.

What if someone snatched him from Jimin? What if Jeongguk left Jimin for someone better? Jimin wasn’t even completely a wolf so what if Jeongguk didn’t like him that much?

Taehyung helplessly watched as Jimin wiped his tears against Jeongguk’s clothes, long forgotten about the cloth Taehyung had given him. Taehyung would gladly comfort him, he’d love to hug him and tell him not to worry but the moment he took a step closer Jimin growled in warning. Jimin took it as a threat to the nest, he wanted to mate Jeongguk and he was ready to bear his pups, Jeongguk probably wouldn’t be able to knot Jimin in the delusional and aroused state he was in – omegas in heats only thought about being knotted because it was the chance their body gave to both mates to have pups.

Yoongi never knotted Taehyung because Yoongi might have indirectly told him he didn’t want pups at the moment. And Taehyung respected that decision, he spent a lot of time playing with other pups in the pack, he didn’t mind not having one of his own because Yoongi just wanted some time – Taehyung accepted that.

But he wondered how Jeongguk would react seeing Jimin for him and... Taehyung knew Jimin couldn’t have been human. Humans don’t leak slick. Omegas are the only walking creatures who do that.

“Jimin...” Taehyung tried to get to him, he had so many questions seeping in his head but Jimin growled, the voice he wanted wasn’t Taehyung’s. Taehyung felt betrayed that something that important wasn’t told to him. Could Jimin confide in him and tell him he was an omega? How come no one ever noticed during their trips to the village? How did Jimin survive as a lone wolf? For twenty winters.

“Jeongguk. Jeongguk. Jeongguk.” Jimin repeated, holding tightly onto the furs, the bite on his neck burning and aching. He wanted his mate, he wanted to finish everything with his teeth in Jeongguk’s neck – he knew it was what was missing.

The door slammed open downstairs. Taehyung immediately stepped out of the room, aware it was Jeongguk. It was silent for a moment, Taehyung suspected Jeongguk was taking a moment to realize whose scent it was and why it was so strong.

Taehyung heard Jeongguk running up the stairs, his eyes were wide and red, looking for his mate. He was sane enough not to say or do anything to Taehyung. Taehyung cowered back when Jeongguk passed by him and stood at the door, watching Jimin.

It didn’t take long for Jimin’s sensitive nose to notice the one he had been waiting for. He lifted his heavy head off the bed and with tears-filled eyes looked at Jeongguk.

“Alpha.”

Jeongguk growled as he slammed the door of the bedroom shut and launched himself on the bed. Jimin sighed in relief when the scent of his mate enveloped him, his arms gripping Jeongguk’s shoulder as he immediately searched for his neck. Jeongguk let him, he was fully in control of himself and he knew he’d let Jimin do anything. Jeongguk swore on the moon his omega would rule him, not the other way around.

Jimin sniffed his neck, leaving and nips, not knowing how hard to bite or if the place he bit would be right. “Just do it, Jiminnie. Trust me.” Jeongguk whispered in Jimin’s ear before kissing his bite mark and squeezing his hips in reassurance. Jimin breathed against the wet skin on Jeongguk’s neck and the sensation shot down to Jeongguk’s .

He groaned, his fingers digging in the soft skin of Jimin’s hipbones and the omega whined in pleasure.

Jimin felt the same sensation, he wanted to get the pants off him. He wanted to be filled with Jeongguk but he wanted to mark him first. Jeongguk moaned when Jimin bit him, close to his scent glands. He gripped the furs tightly, afraid of hurting his mate.

Jeongguk felt like he gave a piece of him to Jimin and replaced it with a piece of Jimin. It felt like it fit better than the piece he had his entire life. He could feel Jimin in his blood, in his bones, his flesh, his mind, his heart. He could feel him everywhere underneath his skin. And he could feel how much Jimin wanted him. Only Jeongguk could give it to him.

Jimin on Jeongguk’s neck, the tip of his tongue ing into the wound and Jeongguk’s hands slid past the hem of Jimin’s pants. Jimin threw his head back when Jeongguk’s fingers found his .

“Jeongguk.” Jimin cried for more, ing up into Jeongguk’s hand while his tongue cleaned the wound. Jeongguk smirked, tightening his hold on Jimin’s and the omega laid limp on the bed, his fingers digging in Jeongguk’s arm. “Jeongguk, please.”

Jeongguk slid Jimin’s pants down, not taking his eyes off Jimin’s. Jimin’s face was flushed, his entire body was burning, his hands tangling in Jeongguk’s hair when the older boy blew cold air on his . Jimin rarely thought about his first time but he thought he’d be embarrassed or shy. But he was far from that.

“I want you, Jeongguk. Please, alpha.” Jimin cried out, arching his body off the bed and looking for Jeongguk. Jeongguk tried to enjoy the view of the omega squirming beneath him but the urge to comply Jimin’s wish overpowered him. He ran his hand across the smoothness of Jimin’s cheek, biting his lip as his hand came in contact with the slick that dripped out of Jimin. With a smirk on his face and a wish to hear more of those beautiful melodies from Jimin’s mouth Jeongguk slipped his finger inside.

Jimin’s eyes snapped open, hands curling into fists as he gasped. Without a second thought he moved against the finger, wanting more and knowing exactly how to get it. Jeongguk smiled as he leaned down to kiss Jimin. Jimin wrapped his arms around Jeongguk’s neck and breathed heavily, a whine coming from the back of his throat. “I want more.”

Jeongguk nodded, leaving a chaste on his lips before another finger slipped inside Jimin’s whole. “God...” Jimin trembled, his eyebrows furrowing as Jeongguk fastened his pace. He felt it inside, something swirling, curling, wanting to come out and tickling him. Jimin’s head fell back, mouth opened wide when Jeongguk pushed another digit in.

“So pretty, Jiminnie.” Jeongguk whispered, tasting Jimin’s arousal on his tongue. Jimin squeaked at the sensitive spot that pushed the pleasure inside him closer to coming out. He wanted it to come out because the closer it was the higher he got, the better he felt.

“And you’re mine, I’m so lucky, my mate is an angel – !” Jeongguk slipped his fingers out and quickly slid his pants to his knees. Jimin whined, opening his eyes to look for him, his hands already reaching out. Jeongguk took his hands and held them down against the bed.

“You’re my mate, Jiminnie, can you feel how much I love you?” Jimin nodded, trying to hold himself back from screaming at him. Jeongguk sighed.

Jimin wanted Jeongguk to fill him with his , he had no idea how he knew it was supposed to be Jeongguk’s big but he had a feeling nothing else could do it. An instinct inside him told him so. And just when he thought Jeongguk was giving up on everything and backing out of it, he felt something warm press against his hole. Jimin gasped, his hands finding his locks and tugging on them, not knowing what to do with all the pleasure in him. His head throbbed more the more he tugged but blame Jeongguk for being so big.

“, Jiminnie.” Jeongguk groaned, his forehead resting against Jimin’s. Jimin’s breathing was fast, eyes unfocused as he blinked and got used to Jeongguk’s size. “Can – can you move?” Jimin asked shakily, eyes wide and dark as night as they met Jeongguk’s, equally dark.

Without a word he pulled out and slowly pushed in again, Jimin’s nails leaving marks everywhere on Jeongguk’s body. It was painful as much as it was pleasuring but as soon as Jimin got used to Jeongguk’s size he let his head fall back, eyebrows furrowed as Jeongguk kept hitting that one place.

“So good Jiminnie, so pretty, beautiful. Mine.” Jeongguk growled, squeezing the soft skin, his cheeks, his thighs, his hips – he leaned down and littered bruises along Jimin’s flawless collarbone.

Jimin’s moans became louder and shorter, turning into gasps as his hold around Jeongguk’s arms tightened. “Jeongguk I...” Jimin forgot what he wanted to say when he felt Jeongguk’s pulse and grow in width. With trembling hands he reached for his own but Jeongguk noticed and grabbed it before him, making Jimin jerk at the sensitivity.

Jeongguk knew Jimin was close, he was too. It took a few for Jimin to come a moment before Jeongguk, his knot expanded and exploded inside Jimin, the feeling leaving Jimin gasping and breathing heavily. Jeongguk tried to be as careful as he could, rolling aside and pulling Jimin on top of his chest, his knot deep inside him. They were both exhausted, especially Jimin who went through his first heat and probably wouldn’t feel that well in the morning. Jimin whined in pain as Jeongguk moved to cover them with the furs, only then noticing what resembled remaining of a nest.

Jeongguk smiled, although he felt exhausted he still couldn’t fight the happiness Jimin brought him. Jimin absentmindedly nipped on his neck, precisely the mating mark he had left earlier, his hand cupping Jeongguk’s jaw. Jeongguk’s hands moved across Jimin’s back as he closed his eyes and enjoyed the scent. One scent consisting of Jeongguk’s and Jimin’s.

He prayed to God Jimin wouldn’t regret it as much as Jeongguk thought he would.

“I am never dealing with fresh mates ever again!” Taehyung grumbled as he threw himself on the couch. Yoongi sighed and threw more wood in the fireplace in hopes of bringing it back to life. “And Jimin...” Taehyung wasn’t sure if it was all right for him to say. Mate or not Taehyung didn’t want to expose anything to Yoongi Jimin wanted to keep a secret. He should respect his friend’s privacy.

Yoongi sat down next to him and Taehyung immediately rotated himself to settle his head on Yoongi’s lap. “Tae, you know how fresh mates act, it’s nothing new. We were like that too.”

“No, you and I mated at the right time and we were safe in my room.” “Well you can’t blame them for not being smart.”

Taehyung sighed, looking up at Yoongi who pushed Taehyung’s hair back and ran his fingers through it. “Jeongguk was smart. He just ignored me. I growled at my own mother. And Jimin... that idiot.”

“What about Jimin? Was he normal? Or did the mark affect him a lot?”

Taehyung shrugged. “I don’t know. I don’t know how humans act, I’ve never seen them before their mating rituals.”

Yoongi laughed. “They call is .” “What?” “Yeah, heard it in the city. Apparently it’s good to them as much as it is to us. But they don’t mark each other. I didn’t see a single human with a mating mark.”

Taehyung pouted. “Yoongi bear I’d wear your mark on my forehead.” “That can be arranged.”

“What? You’d seriously mess up this handsome face?”

“If it means handsome face is keeping his by my side then why not?”

Taehyung rolled his eyes and sat up to sit in Yoongi’s lap. Yoongi watched him with a loving smile as Taehyung pressed a kiss against his forehead. “I’d never drag my away from yours.”

Yoongi nodded with a grin, wrapping his arms around Taehyung’s waist and the younger boy rested his head on Yoongi’s chest. “Yoongi bear I love you. Don’t ever leave me.”

“Taehyung you’re an idiot. I love you too.”
