Oracle.
Weeping Monsters
I sat down on the couch of the living room, curling myself around my propped legs and trying not to eavesdrop on their conversation even though it was hard. I assumed they forgot about my werewolf abilities and how I can hear them even if they were outside the house. The idea of a girl werewolf hadn't yet dawned on them, and I had no problem with that to be honest. They could forget and I could use it to my advantage.
I perked my ears at the soft sound of a groan, followed by an annoyed hiss, and I wondered if the boys were scuffling around. They’ve told me not to move around, and I literally listened to what they asked me to.
“You know she’s dangerous,” I heard one of them say. The absent of shudders down my body made me aware he was none of my mates. “And she's also valuable. A werewolf mate? Do you know how precious that is?”
“Don't tell me you believe her?” This voice made goosebumps erupt on my body, and the velvet pinch to his voice.. I knew immediately who he was, and my heart fell. Baekhyun is an idiot. “This mate bull is not true. You can't really believe Suho and I are both her mates? That's totally unheard of.” He completed incredulously.
“We are not really sure,” Another voice countered, softer than Baekhyun's yet a lot stronger. My body literally exploded from within and I shivered, tightening my grip on myself and keeping my wolf at bay. She was yapping in joy by now. She wanted to resurface. “We haven't lived in that century where mates were a normal occurrence. We can't be sure this situation isn't completely frowned upon.”
“But the books—“
“Suho is right, Baekhyun,” A gentle soul spoke, and I was lost by the buzzing sounds of the boys. I couldn't decipher whose belonged to whom. “Books aren't the only source of knowledge. We need to be one hundred sure she’s lying, and not announce she is because you’re upset she might be right.”
“So what do you suggest?” Baekhyun bit out, and despite the heavyweight lacing his tone, I was ready to combust from within or break into tiny pieces and vapor into the air. They evoke a severe reaction out of me.
“Call in an oracle.”
-
I watched them walk inside the house one by one, my arms curled around my body in the same way I was in for the past sixty minutes. My eyes flickered all over their faces, and aside Jongin’s youthful grin, they all harbored a dark shadow on their faces.
My heart was already pacing when I was listening, and it was accelerating faster now that they were in front of me. My eyes instinctively followed behind Baekhyun, whom immediately went inside the kitchen, searching for presumably water or anything to drench his dry throat. He noticed, of course, and turned his head slightly to shoot me a deathly glare. My heart rocketed to the sky, to the point I could taste it’s irritated thuds in my tongue.
“I can hear your heartbeats, sweetheart.” I snapped my head to Sehun, the tall blonde whom decided to sit himself in front of me, his legs spread apart and an attractive smirk on his lips. I twitched my eyebrow, not knowing if I should laugh in amusement or scowl in annoyance. I could easily make out his age, and he wasn't old enough to either flirt for real or because he was being sarcastic. He was a baby.
Before I can say anything though, Suho the Alpha hurled a smack to the back of the boy’s head, making him wince and straighten himself right away, feigning absolute disinterest.
“We all can,” Suho added, before leaning against the only lone chair he was occupying, right beside Sehun’s. His face was troubled, although he tried hard to hide it, and my eyes found their new prey to feast on. “But that doesn't mean you have the right to treat her like that. Despite her specie, she’s a lady.” His words brought warmth down my heart, and it traveled all the way to my cheeks. I couldn't suppress my small smile, and they all noticed.
“I can hear yours too,” I found myself say, focusing on Suho, and he merely raised an eyebrow. I added, “Heartbeats, and everything else. I’m a werewolf, carve that information through your heads and lower your voices.”
They seemed to tense at my words, and they should. I don't like being underestimated, even if they didn't particularly do that on purpose. They just let the idea of what I could do slip past their heads, because I’m one of a kind and it would take a few days more for them to realize I possess the same abilities as them.
“An oracle?” I said again, once the quiet spread for too long. My tone was stupefied and absolutely terrified, and it was pretty apparent on my face as well. “These beings exist for real?”
“You know of them?” Jongin asked excitedly, although he tried to hide it from his Alpha, whose’ sharp and calculating eyes were rounding on him and everyone else, daring them to share a secret or something. I could tell, my father held the same air as Suho did, although weaker.
“From books..” I mumbled weakly, my eyes going to Suho once again, waiting for him to confirm. It seemed that I couldn't stand eye contact with others for long if they weren't any of my two mates.
“Oracles are real, we have one in our pack. She’ll come at noon, so be prepared.” Suho answered, knowing that I was waiting for him to, his voice was strong and authoritative, and I could’ve melted at how much excitement that brought me.
I wanted him to do things with me. With that exact Alpha voice of his.
“She’s a walking lies detector,” Chanyeol provided with a smile up his face. He was the only one chill enough to look at me softly and talk to me with vulnerability. It warmed my heart. “So don't give her lies, because she can extract electricity down her fingertips and she’ll zap you for every lie.”
“You seem experienced,” I shared with a similar smile on my face, and he winced as if remembering a horrible memory.
“Because I’m. Before I joined this pack I had to go through her first and I was electrocuted enough to wilt like a flower. At the end of the day I saw everyone in two forms. I visualized Minsoek wearing a skirt.”
“I had on a long shirt. He is just naturally an idiot.” Minsoek, the feline-eyed guy (apparently) replied with half a smirk, slouching in his place. He was sitting on the armrest of Suho’s chair. The Alpha was still staring at me as if I were a puzzle he wanted to solve so much.
“Sehun had tried it once too,” Jongin shared with a child-like grin on his face, giving Sehun a look. The boy groaned. “He was all cocky and believed the oracle was only ting with us. He couldn't believe she knew everyone’s secrets and decided he wanted to try.”
“He cried for three days.” Kyungsoo said naturally, no intense expressions on his face and he looked so cool and neutral that made me envy him. I wish I could hold on to
