It started way back when I was clueless and ignorant- a year ago. From my apartment on the third floor, I went down to purchase a cup of ramyeon for dinner. It was past 8, the sky was already dark and rain was pouring hard. I had my umbrella in my right hand, and my keys in the other. I was running as fast as I could, stepping on puddles but I didn’t care. The convenience store was across my building, it was a small worn out white house with a blue pergola rain cover roof in front. As I entered, I did not notice the small figure sitting on the floor and under the cover, his back leaned onto the walls of the store. It was only when I exited the door that I took notice.
Under the same roof and holding the umbrella as I undid it, I felt his gaze on me. He was shyly stealing glances as I held the umbrella with my left hand for cover. I normally do not talk to strangers and had no intentions of befriending the sitting guy either. However, I do not know what dawned on me that I initiated a conversation. “Need a cover?” I asked.
