I Am My Father's Daughter

Chen had dubbed his full time surveillance as Criminals' Condo, his own personal bad daytime drama that got him through the boring parts of the twelve other things Xiumin had him doing in the mean time. Though most of it was watching his boss work and Yejin mill about the apartment like a lost puppy, but when things did happen they were very interesting. Chen pulling up the feed on his main monitor while pulling on his headphones to hear the confrontation better.

Their arrival at the building had given Chen a good chuckle, but by the time Yejin broke down in tears he had clicked away unable to watch his strong-willed friend cry. He knew that she was involved with 3.6.5. before she showed up at the Circle, and that their mutual friend Tao worked at the – illegal and camouflaged – casino run by them, but no matter the problem she faced, dangerous or scary otherwise, Yejin didn't shed a tear. Tao cried for her. Chen had picked up on that during their years of friendship, they were very close, now that they were apart Yejin didn't have that support and Tao was a nervous wreck. The texts Chen and Tao shared over the last few days made that clear even if they didn't didn't directly mention Yejin, Tao's replies were lacking his usual witty spark.

Now as the tech whiz watched the camera footage of Yejin's bedroom he wasn't alone, next to him sat the Circle's info runner and explosives expert D.O. Real name Do Kyungsoo, but only those inside the Circle new that. He was just as amused as Chen by the sight of seeing their boss acting as Yejin's personal maid, without her even asking. D.O. had only stopped by to grab the cellphone he was suppose to deliver to said apartment they were watching but the happenings on Chen's monitors were far too entertaining to tear his gaze away from.

“Is it always this interesting?” D.O. inquired. A broad grin on his face as his wide eyes stayed locked on Xiumin vacuuming the bedroom.

“Only when she whines for a nightcap,” Chen replied.

“And he caves?” D.O. gaped.

“Yup,” Chen said popping the p with a pleased smile.

“What's this girl's name again? I owe her something for this beautiful show,” he chuckled.

“Kwon Yejin,” Chen answered.

They continued watching as Xiumin finished vacuuming and Yejin spoke up asking why. The two men felt a chill run through them when the girl pointed at a camera and Xiumin looked directly at it, seeming to see through it to them like he knew they weren't working. Standing from the spare chair D.O. patted his pocket making sure he had the cellphone while Chen moved the video feed off of his main screen so he could return to facial scans to help him track down Dragon – though it had gotten him nowhere all week.

“I should probably get going, Xiumin wanted a few updates in person,” D.O. said as he moved towards the door.

“Thanks for taking the phone with you. Yejin's been complaining to me through the mics about it since Friday.” Chen spun in his chair so he was facing the other man a heavy sigh to his words as he rubbed his forehead.

“No problem. And what a smart but strange way to get what she wants,” D.O. commented.

“I'm pretty sure she's use to being closely watched like this,” Chen said in a matter-of-fact way.

D.O. looked startled by this. “That's really ing creepy. Who is this girl?”

“She's tied to 3.6.5.. Don't you read your reports?” he muttered.

“I deliver reports and pass information. I don't pay attention to it. If I did my brain would explode,” D.O. stated.

“Like that boat you took care of last month?” Chen joked.

“Exactly like that. Maybe even more spectacularly than that,” D.O. grinned fondly.

Chen's amusement faltered for a moment at the expression on D.O.'s face. He had taken the joke a little too seriously and was probably imagining a fiery combustion with columning smoke and sparks flying about. There were times when D.O. dropped by after an explosives mission that Chen wondered if the man enjoyed his job a little too much and wasn't considering how to rig his precious computers together to cause an erupting inferno.

“Hey, you still with me?” Chen waved at the man who had retreated into his head.

Shaking off his stupor D.O. turned his smile to Chen. “Yeah, all good. I'm off,” he said.

“Don't pick the lock to the apartment! Xiumin may actually kill you this time,” Chen called after him as a stray thought of the last safe house D.O. had dropped by popped into his mind.

“I'm not an idiot!” D.O. yelled back.

Spinning back round to face his computers Chen shook his head as he muttered to himself. “You said that last time too, idiot.”

When a knocking persistently sounded at the front door Yejin stared at it like an alien had appeared and as it continued at an increasing rate she called to Xiumin. She was standing in the lounge a book she had decided to read in hand. Xiumin had been about to question her about the shouting and why she had used his fake name, Seungjae, but stopped when he heard the knocking. In a split second he went from a cranky old man to a military personnel, even a gun he had hidden at his ankle in hand as he slowly approached the door.

After checking the peephole he released an exasperated groan, lowered his gun and unlocked the door. Yejin watched in silent confused curiosity as she stayed in the lounge, while Xiumin allowed a man with a grin that was just a little too wide to be friendly inside. As Xiumin shut the door behind him the man pulled out something from his pocket that Yejin immediately recognized as a smart phone.

“Delivery!” he sang.

“You couldn't ring saying you were here?” Xiumin asked irked. He bent over to replace the gun in the holster at his ankle as their visitor wondered over to Yejin.

“Gotta keep ya on your toes boss. From what I heard, a week away from the office has you going domestic,” he replied with a smirk.

“You've been spending too much time with Chen and not enough time working. I can give you more routes,” Xiumin said in a threatening tone.

Yejin glanced between the two as she tapped the book she was holding against her thigh.

His grin shrunk as their visitor spun to face Xiumin, phone still held up like
