I have been Kim Taeyeon’s chemistry lab partner for more than two years. Yes. Two years, five months, three days, two hours and fifty seven seconds.

Fifty eight.

Fifty nine…

Wait stop… I should definitely stop counting since, obviously, it is not healthy.

Am I obsessed? Not really.

Also, you couldn’t even call me Taeyeon’s fan. And yeah… that girl has a lot of fans. Both girls and guys run around seeking her attention. Even one of my best friends Sooyoung (who is straight as a pole) can’t stop talking about her. It is annoying… soo annoying…

I can’t deny it. Taeyeon does have her charm. Lots of charm and that smile…

“Face it, Jessi, the only time you actually TRY and do want to look pretty is whenever Taeyeon shows up. You shouldn’t deny this at least to your best friends. You’re only fooling yourself. Just a minute ago when Taeyeon walked by you straighten up instead of sleeping on the table. If that’s not love… I don’t know what is.”

“Totally agree…Sleep is sacred for Jessica Jung… and you don’t look sleepy when Taeyeon shows up. Even if she just walks by.” Sooyoung commented and high fived with my other friend Tiffany.

Two annoying best friends ruining my life whenever they get a change.

I mean… I have to admit.When I was spending time with Taeyeon and we were calculating particular levels, I wanted to be beautiful. I mean…I’m not ugly. I just wanted to be MORE beautiful. But then every single time I remembered how popular Taeyeon is, or even the fact that she doesn’t know my name. Yeah, whenever we meet up for some project she called me ‘Jung’, I went back to normal. My normal is - pretending that Taeyeon doesn’t affect me at all.

If only my annoying best friends would start believing it too.

“Hey… Jessica”

Fingers were in my hair, gently brushing it away from my face. Afterwards, fingers caressed a path over my shoulder, once again ever so genly, down my arm and stopped right at my fingers.

“Time to wake up, sleepyhead. Let’s go”

A mystery voice. Very nice voice. It made my insides feel like jelly, sweet and fluffy and melting.
