VIRAL LOVE Chapter 52 : UNBURDENED "So he really does have a legit reason for coming to London?" Mo-yeon watches from the sofa as Si-jin walks back and forth in front of her in their living room, his head down as he talks to his aunt on the phone. The aunt is his father's sister; also his current manager and the only person from his father's side of the family that Si-jin still initiates contact with. They have just come back from the coffee shop downstairs after the awkward and very uncomfortable meeting with Yoo Chang-woo. Mo-yeon takes a deep breath, her eyes faithfully on her footballer boyfriend’s taller figure, watching how his hand keeps clenching and unclenching by his side. She knows without asking that his day today has been ruined by his father's unexpected presence. He usually spends the day with his team discussing strategies but he no longer has plans to do so today. By the time he had determinedly pushed their front door’s lock into place a few minutes ago it’s clear that he refuses to leave her by herself alone in their flat. She makes a mental reminder to text Lee Chi-hoon and postpone their lunch date. Si-jin sighs to himself as he hangs up before he walks toward his girlfriend and heavily sinks down next to her on their grey couch. Mo-yeon watches him sympathetically. He inhales against her hair, his hands protectively holding her small figure close against his sturdy frame. "My aunt said he has a charity project with his old football mate in London. That's why he was here in the first place." Mo-yeon nods against his chest, her lips brushing against his wool covered collar bone when she tilts her head to settle in the crook of his neck. "So he wasn't really here because he wanted to stalk us?" He shakes his head, his voice hard as he pulls her even closer till she’s sitting on his lap. "We can’t never tell with him. And it still doesn't excuse what he did today. Who in their right mind would just come over to their estranged son’s house and deliberately accost their son’s girlfriend like that? He knows I hate him, I’ve damn well warned him to stay away. From you. Especially from you." "How about Myeong-joo? Doesn’t he bother her too?" She wonders to herself. He shakes his head, his face scrunches up in complete disgust. "Myeong-joo knows how to handle him. Dae-young is also as protective as her as I am. And well, he doesn't bother to make half an effort with her as he would with me." Mo-yeon frowns in confusion. She notices that too, Myeong-joo never talks about being bothered by their father. "Why is that, Si-jin?" He scoffs softly under his breath. "Probably because deep down, he thinks women are inferior to men. He’d never bothered with her even when we were little kids. Of course he would care more about getting back with his son than his daughter. But the fact that he knows I would only budge if he bothers you...God...." She doesn't say anything but she holds him tighter, trying to calm him down with her embrace. He takes a deep breath before he gently put his hand on her face so he can look into her eyes. The vulnerable look that she had seen earlier at the coffee shop is back, only it’s not as strong as before. "Mianhe, Mo-yeon," he whispers, "I apologize for having such a screw-up of a father. I'm sorry you have to deal with him just because you are with me." Mo-yeon furiously shakes her head. "I can handle him just fine, Si-jin. Don’t ever apologize for him ever again, honey. We can’t choose who we were born to. You didn't choose him as your father." Her smaller hand comes up to cover his as she stares at him earnestly, "He is the only one responsible for his action. Not you. Never you." She lets the words sink into his mind. Time seems to freeze around them as Si-jin wordlessly stares back at her. And then everything suddenly bursts loose when he abruptly bends down and smothers her with a hot, searing kiss. She gasps a little as her hands desperately grab on his soft sweater to steady herself; not at all expecting the kiss. He takes that opportunity to push his tongue into her slightly parted lips and deepen their kiss. It turns sizzling hot in a fraction of a second as he tastes her like he's afraid she might disappear into thin air. She whimpers softly when he breaks their kiss only to roughly the side of her neck where he knows she is most sensitive. She is melting with red-hot desire in his strong arms and pretty soon she'll be at the point of no return. But she uses the last ounce of her willpower to gently push on his chest. He reluctantly stops and leans back, his eyes dark as he his lips and watches her pant for air, her cheeks attractively pinkish red as she blushes all the way down the collar of her own cardigan. It takes her awhile to finally find her voice again; her own eyes seem transfixed on his lips. "S-Si-jin...." He gives her a small smile as he plants a sweet kiss on her forehead. "Sorry for attacking you, babe. It’s just sometimes I still wonder how I get so lucky to have you." She grins back in reply, her blood still buzzing from their impromptu rendezvous. "It’s because you are a wonderful man yourself, Mr Yoo." He stares at her for a long second, his gaze deep and searching. “Do you think you can play the song you wrote for me on the piano?” She blinks, surprised by his sudden request. Still she smiles and nods in reply. “Sure thing, honey.” He lets her stand up before he does the same. He then grabs her hand and pulls her with him so they can walk hand in hand toward the piano and sit down side by side. She glances at him and sees him looking intensely back at her so she just gives him a small, shy chuckle before she looks down and starts to play. He stays silence as he listens to her music, the beautiful song she had composed as she thought about him, the one written from her heart. The music replaces the quietness of their living room as the snow keep falling outside their windows, and for a few minutes it feels like the world only exists for the two of them.
