Chapter 04
Departure's Boy-friendAs Minseok relaxed in bed that night, cuddling his blanket, he could not wait to go back to school tomorrow. He was all smiles the entire day since the moment he had met Jongdae. Not even his aunt’s piercing eyes could dampen his happy mood. All his cheerfulness was thanks to his new friend, and the news that he would be relocated to his grandparents’ house the next day. He had already packed his bag.
For the first time in a long time, Minseok fell asleep with a smile adorning his lips. It seemed as though luck had favored him the second he had encountered Jongdae.
The following day at school was blissful: He got to sit next to Jongdae in every class, converse with him and share lunch with him at the kindergarten canteen, and play with him.
Minseok liked Jongdae a lot. Jongdae made everything amazing. He learned loads of things from the other, including tying shoelaces!
Furthermore, to multiply his joy tenfold, his grandfather picked him up after school (Joonmyeon mock cried when he saw Minseok go) and they walked to his grandparents’ house, which was a block away from the school. Once they reached there, his grandmother instantly whisked him away to the kitchen (“Look at how skinny you’ve become! Let grandma bring your chubby cheeks back, dear.”), and fed him his favorite food items until he could eat no more.
The days that succeeded were filled with nothing but jollity. His grandparents’ apartment flat
