Chapter 18
Departure's Boy-friendMinseok was in the school's library, reading.
He looked up from his book upon hearing a chair scrape the floor loudly to find Jongdae plopping down on the seat across from him. His mouth involuntarily dropped open, stunned. Jongdae was sitting at the same table as him?
Instead of feeling upset at having been disturbed, he felt his pulse quicken with nervousness. He saw Jongdae on weekdays, but never had he come face-to-face with this boy when he was actually alone. Prior to this encounter, in the restroom, Yixing and Luhan had been nearby.
The librarian, Mrs. Park, sent a pointed look their way from her desk at the front of the room. The library was a very serene place; it was so tranquil that you would be able to hear if a pin ever dropped onto the floor.
“Sorry,” Jongdae apologized to Mrs. Park with a sincere-looking smile before turning his head to acknowledge Minseok. Cocking an eyebrow at the latter’s hanging jaw, he reached across to slide two fingers beneath Minseok’s chin and shut his mouth for him.
“What’s so great, mate?” Jongdae asked under his breath, lest he should attract Mrs. Park’s glare again for speaking aloud.
Minseok, flustered, flashed a sheepish smile at his classmate and gazed back down at his book.
Jongdae visiting a library was like seeing a wolf knitting sweaters for chickens. He was that shocked. Never before had anyone seen this boy in the library. As it was, students were throwing furtive glances in Jongdae’s direction.
He felt a little let down by the fact that Jongdae had selected his table only because there was no other available table, but he did not complain much. He was content to gain an opportunity to have Jongdae near him.
