Part One

Play House, Play Pretend

Part One

A black-haired young man adorned in a pair of washed-out blue jeans and a pristine white shirt walked gracefully along the corridor of the luxurious condominium. His steps were halted in front of a unit with the number 407 gold plate attached to the door. The young man proceeded to punch in the security password he knows by heart. Once a click was heard, he didn't waste any moment and entered the said luxurious unit.

Only that the interior doesn't seem so luxurious anymore. Not with the clothes strewn all over the black sofa, empty beer cans toppled on the white coffee table and a full-grown adult snoring away on the fluffy red carpet, probably didn't realize that he actually down there on the floor when his initial spot was on the said black sofa.

Seongwoo rubbed his temple as he could sense an incoming headache. He wouldn't dare to step into the kitchen for he afraid that the scene wouldn't be much promising. Seongwoo picked up the clothes and threw them in the laundry basket. He then picked up the trash and tidy up the place, leaving the snoring man on the floor. Seongwoo thought that should teach the younger some lessons. It would be so satisfying when the younger male woke up groaning and whining due to back pain.

Seongwoo smiled mischievously at the thought.

It was almost 12:00 p.m. when Seongwoo heard some grunts and groans from the living room as he stirred the hangover soup on the stove.

'Oh, I guess the brat has woken up.' Seongwoo grinned as he continued stirring the liquid in the pot.

As Seongwoo expected, the younger male came stumbled into the kitchen. His dark brown hair was strewn all over his head and the guy couldn't even open his eyes, not that it would make any difference since his eyes were not that big to begin with.

All in all, Daniel looks freakishly ugly. No doubt about that.

Daniel groaned as he made his way to the dining table. He plopped his heavy on one of the chairs and not so gracefully placing his equally heavy head on the wooden table, the loud thud made Seongwoo winced. He just hoped that Daniel wouldn't get bruised because of his own stupidity.

“Hey.” Seongwoo greeted briefly.

He scooped up some soup into a bowl and put it in front of the younger, not forgetting to put a bowl of rice alongside. He then sat opposite to the latter. Daniel sluggishly greeted back as he pulled the hot bowl closer to him.  He grabbed the spoon and scooped some soup into his mouth, subconsciously hummed in contentment as the flavorful liquid teased his taste bud. Seongwoo simply observed the younger in amusement.

“Your mom called earlier.” Seongwoo started. Daniel raised his eyebrows, his mouth still busy chewing on the rice.

“She wanted us to pick out our wedding suits and decide on the themes, yknow, all those pesky things” Seongwoo supplied.

“Cool. We’ll go in two hours.” Daniel shrugged. It was obvious that the younger male has no interest in the said topic.

Seongwoo could only nod and suppress his sigh. He saw this coming. He knew how the male would react but that didn’t mean he won’t feel hurt about it. This marriage was arranged by their families. It wouldn’t be such a problem if both of them have no feelings towards each other but it was such an unfortunate case for Seongwoo as he couldn’t help but fall in love with his best friend. To top his misery, it was a one-sided love and Daniel has zero knowledge of Seongwoo’s feelings towards him.

The three of them, by three Seongwoo meant he himself, Daniel and this flippant-looking guy by the name Lee Daehwi, in which he was informed that the eccentric male is actually a professional wedding planner (well it shouldn’t be a surprise when the latter greeted them with a loud nasally ‘Oh. Em.Gee honeys, I’ve been waiting for you for ages blah blah blah’ before pulling Seongwoo for a hug and a greeting kiss on the cheeks. Daniel was lucky enough for he’s quick to avoid the eccentric male’s ministration and politely rejecting the sudden skinship; that lucky bastard), rounding up the table to discuss on the wedding.

Seongwoo believed he should rephrase that. It was only he himself and this Daehwi guy that were actively engaging in the discussion while Kang Freaking Daniel simply sat there beside him looking bored as hell, trying to find amusement by scrolling through the phone.

“Honey, will you excuse me for a bit? I’m gonna go check something with my staffs. For the time being, why don’t you lovebirds skim through the catalog?”

Seongwoo almost grimaced at the ‘lovebirds’ part but he settled with a polite smile instead.

“Sure, just take your time Mr. Lee.”

“Cut out the formalities and just call me Daehwi, honey. Now if you excuse me, I’ll be right back.” Daehwi excused himself. Seongwoo nodded, the smile never left his face. He let out a rather heavy sigh once he was utterly sure that the male was out of sight; his body sagging into the comfortable white couch. Daniel who was previously preoccupied with his phone cocked his eyebrow as he took in the battered state of the older.

“What’s up with the heavy sigh?” Daniel pried as he tossed his phone to the empty space on the couch, completely uninterested in the device anymore. He was quite taken aback when Seongwoo glared at his whole self as if ready to swallow him whole.

“W-what? Why are you glaring at me like that?” Daniel stuttered, suddenly going into a defensive mode. Seongwoo let out another sigh before rubbing his face exasperatedly.

“Can’t you at least pretend that you’re interested in this?”

“Why? It’s not like our parents are here.” Daniel shrugged.

“You should them by now you idiot. Who knows they actually hired that Daehwi guy to spy on us too.” Seongwoo gritted his reply.

“You’re over thinking.” Daniel snorted as he grabbed the catalog on the table and flipped through the pages, scrunching his face when he saw the monotonous soft pastel colors decorating the glossy papers. He just couldn’t understand what are the differences between the 50 shades of pink or peaches; whatever the color displayed in it.

“What if it’s true?” Seongwoo demanded. Daniel stopped flipping through the pages; his eyes found the older’s. He could tell that the older was serious about this. The troubled expression on the older’s face was obvious. Daniel let out a defeated sigh.

“Okay, okay. I get it. Sheesh, there’s no way to win over you huh?” Daniel surrendered but somehow he felt accomplished when he saw how Seongwoo’s lips slowly etched into a wide smile. He couldn’t help but smile along.

“Good boy~” Seongwoo playfully patted the younger’s head. He giggled in amusement when the younger swatted his hand away, shoving the catalog to him while begrudgingly uttered a ‘Shut up and let’s get this over with’; the blush on the younger’s cheeks and ears was an obvious evident that the latter was feeling bashful. Seongwoo happily flipped through the pages, pulling Daniel nearer so that the younger could see too.

“So, what do you think will our wedding theme? Any colors that you wanted?” Seongwoo asked as he skimmed through the pages.

“I don’t mind. You can choose.”

“You said you’ll participate in this.” Seongwoo frowned. Daniel sensed that he’s going to get into trouble if he didn’t produce an answer ASAP so he blurted out the first color he saw on the page.

“I kinda like that silver one. It complements the white.” Daniel pointed towards that particular picture on the page where the theme majorly silver and white with a splash of crystals adorning the wide space of the wedding hall. Seongwoo’s eyes followed to where Daniel had pointed at. He hummed as he weighed his decision.

“But I like peach though. So, we’re getting peach. Oh, this shade of peach looks good.”

“THEN WHY DID YOU ASK MY OPINION FOR?”

This is why Daniel never bothered to say his opinion. In the end, Seungwoo will do whatever he wants anyway.

Seongwoo sat idly on the single white couch, staring blankly out of the window. The beautiful view of Seoul city at night didn't actually catch his interest, probably because he was used to such view where the night was decorated with glittering lights from the skyscrapers  instead of the scattering stars. He was sporting a fluffy white robe, sipping on the cup of piping hot coffee. He sighed in contentment when the pleasant taste of the bitter black liquid teased his taste bud.

Seongwoo let out a soft gasp when a pair of arms s around his shoulders. His body relaxed when he finally registered who they belonged to.

“You’re gonna catch a cold if you leave your hair like that.” Daniel husky voice invaded Seongwoo’s ears. Seongwoo breath hitched when the younger’s plump lips tracing kisses along his neck, his body unconsciously shuddered when Daniel nipped on that particular spot behind his left ear.

“Stop it.” Seongwoo gently pried the younger’s arms off him, his eyes met the younger’s confused ones.

“Today is no good?” Daniel asked. Seongwoo almost laughed seeing the younger’s troubled face.

“I just took a bath.”

“That’s why I’m even more tempted.” Daniel playfully wiggled his eyebrows. Seongwoo narrowed his eyes on the younger, not amused by the younger’s innuendo.

“No.”

“Please?” Daniel clamped his hands and blinking repeatedly, an appalling attempt at aegyo. If Seongwoo didn’t know well he would’ve thought the younger has eye spasm or something.

“No.”

“With a cherry on top?” Daniel pouted, still begging like a puppy. Seongwoo let out a defeated sigh. He rose from his seat and walked towards the bed, much to the younger’s confusion.

“You’re impossible.” Seongwoo uttered as he rid of his bathrobe, leaving himself with only a pair of boxer. Daniel’s eyes lit up in excitement.

“That’s a yes?”

“Just do whatever you want quick before I change my mind.”

Let’s just say Daniel didn’t waste any more precious time as he impatiently pounced on the older.

“Hey, I’m going out.”

Daniel’s voice was what snapping Seongwoo out of his dazed state. He was still lying there on the bed, bundled up in his comfy blanket, refusing to go out of it since his body is still sore from the previous intense activity. He turned to face the younger who was just out of the shower, standing in front of the closet to pick out some clothes.

“Where to now?” Seongwoo raised a brow as he sat up on the bed, wincing when he felt the pain throbbing on his backside.

“Wow, we’re not even married yet and you already sound a lot like a nagging wife.” Daniel chuckled as he slipped into a pair of ripped jeans. He turned around when the older was getting too quiet to his liking, only to be met with a frowning face of a particular Ong Seongwoo.

“Okay, okay. I’m going to Pierre. Tchh, you’re no fun.” Daniel gave up. He slipped a shirt on his bare body before moving towards the mirror to style his hair. Taking up the visual of the younger, the answer given shouldn’t be a surprise for Seongwoo. Not when he’s supposedly used to this.

“Can’t you stay?” Seongwoo unknowingly uttered as he fiddled absentmindedly with the soft fabric of the blanket.

“What?”

“I said don’t go knocking up the girls.” Seongwoo mentally slapped himself for the slip before. It was fortunate that Daniel didn’t catch that.

“You have so little trust in me.” Daniel clucked his tongue as he grabbed his wallet and phone.

“There’s none and who’s there to blame?”

“Touche. I’m going. It’s already late so just sleep here. I’ll be back in a few hours.” Daniel said before waving the older a brief ‘bye’ and made his way out of the room.

Seongwoo let out a sigh, his arms were wrapping around his knees, hugging the pair of long legs. He could hear the sound of the door being closed, indicating that Daniel probably had left the house. He tightened his hug, biting his lips till he could taste a hint of iron on his taste bud.

He thought it’s better than tasting the salt from his tears. Way better.
