Chapter 2

“ God , I forgot how much food your mother serves , “ Jessica groaned as they sat on Wook’s parent’s deck overlooking the water . They’d been eating Christmas dinner for the past five hours and she was ready to burst .

“ I warned you , “ Wook reminded her how he told her that his mother was planning  this meal all week but Jessica didn’t believe him like always .

“ It’s so good seeing them again though and I forgot how much I missed them . “  

“ Same for them and they still ask about you all the time , wondering if you’ve decided the whole Bi ual thing was a phase even though they knew you were married to Taeyeon at that time  . You know that there’s  still hope for us to get married … “

Jessica slapped his arm lightly and then rested her head against his shoulder as they listened to the ocean , “ Not too cold ? “ he asked , wrapping his arm around her .

“ No it’s okay , “ but she snuggled closer to him and ran her fingers over her face , brushing a strand of hair aside , “ Thank you for bringing us here , “ she said softly . She felt his cheek press against the top of her head .

“ Thank you for coming and bringing Sinb with you . You know you’ve spoiled my folks by bringing her here … they love her to bits , they really do Sica .  Now there’s a pressure for me to find a wife thanks to you . “

“ You’ll make a wonderful husband , “ Jessica murmured .

“ Is that an invitation Ms Jung ? “ She felt his grin and heard it in his voice .

“ You’re crazy mister .”

“ Yes but you will marry this crazy and produce a new sibling for our daughter . Ms Jung or should I call you Mrs Ji HAHA “

Pinching his arm in response as she tried not to dwell on his suggestion and how hurt she was from it . It’s been months since Taeyeon had left her but she’s still in the same position , still loving Taeyeon even though at times Taeyeon acted like a heartless and would say stuff that would end up hurting Jessica .  Jessica was a fool … a fool who loved Taeyeon dearly .

“ Sooyeon , “ she sat up and met his gaze that was suddenly solemn . “ I’m serious , “ he said quietly “ I know I’ve joked about it before but I mean it . About us … being a family . “

“ Wook - “

“ I know I-I know  but hear me out Sooyeon . I know this might sound cheesy and unrealistic but I still love you … I never stopped  and the thought of losing you again I-I… “

“ You won’t lose me Wookie . “  His face was clear that he's  hurt as he tried to find the right words to make her understand .

“ Sooyeon , I know that I’m stupid and I shouldn’t be feeling this way . But I still love you and still loving you right this second . And I know how ridiculous that sounds and that you’re all about the ladies . I mean Taeyeon . But … maybe we could try again and just see how it goes . “

“ Wookie … “ Jessica smiled sadly as she cupped his cheek with her hands as she wished she could give him what he wanted . She knew she could do it too and she could agree to be with him again and let him play the father role for Sinb  since  he is the father even though he’s only a donor but still he is the father of her child .

For one brief moment Jessica allowed herself to imagine “ What if ? “  When he leaned in slowly to kiss her she let him and his warm lips brushed against hers , she pretended it could work . But deep down she knew that it couldn’t happen and it wasn’t fair on him . She knew he wouldn’t be able to make her completely happy and it wasn’t fair on either of them . She pulled away breaking the kiss . Wook’s expression was as open and vulnerable as she’d ever seen it , even when she’d told him she was leaving him because she’d fallen in love with a woman , Taeyeon , all those years ago his expression was still the same.

Her eyes were moist , “ Wook I-I  can’t “

He looked down , expressing a soft snort as he did so .

“I’m sorry , “  she said and raised his chin , her gaze locked on his , “ Wook , I love you too but you know I can’t … I just can’t  and it’s not fair on you . “

“ I know . “

“ You’re my best friend , Sinb’s father and I don’t know what I would have done without you through all this … “ tears slipped down her cheeks and he hushed her words , pulling her into a hug .

“ I wish I could  , “ she whispered .

“ It’s okay I understand Sooyeon . “

“ You deserve someone who will love you completely Wookie , “ she sat back t
