A burst of cool provincial air welcomed Jinyoung as he stepped outside the bus. A warm, fuzzy feeling enveloped him contrary to the white Winter season Korea is experiencing. It is New Year's Eve and the festivity of the incoming year is undeniable. Packs of people are scattered, all armed with noise makers and groceries. He observed his surroundings and was overwhelemed when he noticed that his hometown remained the same. Large ginko trees line the streets while dainty snow-capped houses complemented them.
A pang of nostalgia hit him. He never enjoyed the noise of December 31 but he liked its aura of joyousness. It's been three years since he last experienced it, all because he chose to coop up in his apartment ever since he started college.
Memories crept onto his mind as he remember how he immediately left the town after graduation. Not because he was excited for the next page of his life but because he was afraid that he'll find more reasons to stay. He never realized his agony until his first night in Seoul. Alone in his apartment room while his mind is screaming Kim Jisoo. He didn't even bother to say goodbye. He didn't. He wouldn't. He can't. In the dark, Park Jinyoung realized what he is most afraid of- Kim Jisoo and his feelings. He is gruelling of how he will try to tie her down for he was sure that once he spilled out those emotions, he will not let her go. He's selfish and he is afraid that that selfishness might drag her down.
