In the Enchanted Forest, there was a caramel horse mounted by a figure in a shiny armour, sided by a black horse mounted by a figure with shiny hair.

   "So, Karry" said the armoured prince "Why do you think this forest is called enchanted? I thought everything would be blue and glowing, but all seems pretty green and normal to me."

   The other looked around thoughtfully "Well, It's probably because of... Enchanted... Stuff. Yes." Karry answered uselessly. "Do fairies count as stuff? I've always wanted to see a fairy. I bet they would be the prettiest things!" Roy's eyes sparkled as he said so, and missed prince Karry's glare

   "I don't think so, i bet there are way more beautiful things surrounding you." The older prince argued, sounding hopeful "Like what?" The shorter asked obliviously, making Karry pout and turn to the front in a sulking silence.

   They kept on in silence, until the air became humid. "Do you feel this? I think there is water near, we should find it and rest there for a moment." Prince Karry said, sniffing the air. After a few minutes, prince Roy "I think i hear water! Let's go, this way!" And started galloping, the other horse soon followed.

   They reached a declivity, went further and down, the forest getting thicker and thicker. As they rode, the ground became rock, and soon they found themselves by the edge of a large river, water sparkling in the sun as the trees stayed behind them.

   The two dismounted, letting their horses run free to drink and eat as they pleased. Roy crouched and submerged his hand "It's this cold even under the sun, so refreshing"

   "Is it? That's good, you stay here watching the horses while i'll look for something to eat. Use this time to cool down, have a swim. I will be back soon." Then Karry turned around, going uphill. He remembers seeing some weird fruit on their way down, those should be edible.

   Prince Roy took the older's advice. He got rid of his armour and got into the water, splashing all around. He swam to a group of rocks in the middle of the river sitting with his legs in the water, watching as fish went by, occasionally checking on the horses.

   Suddenly he heard a gasp. Following the direction of the sound, he saw two big eyes peeping at him from behind the furthest rock. "Hello?" Roy asked, standing up. The person behind the stone looked suddenly terrified.

   "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." The prince tried to calm his surprise companion down. "You can stop hiding, what is your name?" Roy said with his nicest smile, extending his hand to invite the other.

   A moment passed, and deciding that there was no threat, the person leaned on top of the rock, half still under the water.

   Roy was mesmerized, the stranger was a boy probably a year or two younger than him, but he had the prettiest face the prince had ever seen. His features were soft, sharp and sweet, and he had the largest eyes.

   "What is your name?" Roy asked curiously. What would a boy this beautiful be doing alone in a river? "You can talk!" Was the surprised response he got. The prince was puzzled "Well, of course i can. Why are you surprised?" The other eyed him up and down slowly "What are you? Why don't you have fins?" "Fins?! Like a fish? Why would I have fins?" Roy asked genuinely confused, what on earth?

   The stranger laughed "Not like a fish, like this! So you can swim! Those sticks you have don't seem very usefull" he said bringing his tail out of the water to show Roy. The prince took a while to notice, as he was too enthranced in the musical laugh and lovely smile shown, but when he did, he quickly stood up.

   It was a mermaid. Well, a merman? A merboy? A mermaid, nonetheless. It was probably dangerous, trying to enchant him and drag him to the bottom of the ocean. River. The smiling mermaid noticed Roy's wide eyes, and asked "What's wrong?", growing concerned.

   Prince Roy noticed the shift in the other's mood and felt slightly guilty. He was being too paranoid lately. "I... Nothing, nevermind. I don't have fins, you see, I'm a human. This sticks are my legs. Humans have legs, for walking on land. We can't breathe underwater."

   Merboy looked extremely interested, and Roy guessed he had never seen a human before. After all, there weren't many wandering in the forest. "Nice to meet you, Human. I am Chengxin" the mermaid said with another dimpled smile, and the prince melted. "Hello, Chengxin. My name is Roy".

~Meanwhile, Karry...~

   Prince Karry decided to leave prince Roy at the river instead of bringing him along to the dark woods, where they might find dangerous creatures. Karry'll deal with them and return with food while Roy is safe playing in the water alone.

   He walks slowly through the uneven terrain, careful not to trip as the vines hanging from one close tree to another and moss on the ground are enough to make him unsteady. The hill is a neverending climb up, and Karry feels that the path was a lot shorter on the way down.

   "Come on, they must be around here somewhere..." He says out loud to himself, eyes darting all around, searching for any color different than green.

   "Who must be around here?" Prince Karry stops at the unexpected answer to his rethorical question. "What? Who said that?" He asks to his apparently empty surroundings. "Me!" A firefly then flies on his face. Karry stumbles back and tries to get it off, flinging his arms around. Gross, he hates bugs.

   When he finally hits something, there is a little scream going to the distance. The human feels a little disturbed, he didn't want to harm anything, he just didn't want anything to be near him.

   The Prince moves on, walking another hundred meters, and then sees: a huge bush, filled with the sweetest smelling, weirdest looking fruit. He reaches for a pink and white striped one, and pulls it free. He doesn't expect there to be an answer.

   "OWCH!" The bush screams, gathering his leaves around the place where the fruit was taken. Karry's eyes bulge. Does everything speak here?

   Two branches move over two bigger fruit, making it seem as if the bush is glaring angrily at Karry, and vines swing sideways hitting the ground. The Prince takes a step backwards.

   The bush looks like a pissed off octopus, not something he had encountered before, but still. Looked like it. Usually, when Karry angers someone without meaning to, he apologises as the reasonable person that he is. So he decides that an apology is due, even if it feels really weird.

   The prince bows and lowers his head, one hand on his chest politely. "Forgive me, your plantness. I had not meant to hurt you. I shall take responsability for any harm i've done, but please kindly keep in mind that my intentions were never malicious." Karry says diplomatically, keeping his bow.

   The bush's leaves stop rattling, and the vines stop whipping. He then feels a vine creep up his shoulder, and looks up alarmed. The plant doesn't look angry anymore, which is a good sign. "What were you trying to do, if not hurt me?"

   "...Find food?" Karry's not sure if that's a good answer or if it will offend the bush. "Me and my companion are in a journey, and unfortunately there aren't many restaurants in the vicinity."

   It seems to be the right thing to say, as the plant laughs whole heartedly, shaking all of its fruit. "Indeed, there are not many. But there is one. I can take you, i love it there. Of course, i can't go as often as i would like, gotta keep this trunk in shape, right?" And laughs again, holding Karry to it's side with four vines. "Ha! Ha! Sure, let's go!" The human answers. It's not like he has a choice, who knows what might happen should he refuse.

   The plant then stands straight, getting incredibly tall and pulls its roots from the ground, causing a mini earthquake that has Karry falling. "Oh, carefull there, little one!" The bush says, and holds Karry in the air with it's vines around the boy's torso and arms while pulling its other rooted leg to freedom. Prince Karry screams for dear life as he is taken by the plant to the restaurant.

   After a few minutes of walking, they reach a cavern. The huge bush surprisingly passes by the entrance easily. The place is nicely decorated, huge stone carved tables and chairs, colorful bird feathers making a beautiful panel on the wall, and fireflies all over the ceiling making it look like they are under the starry sky.

   Karry can't help but notice that these fireflies look different from the one he met at the forest, but doesn't think much of it.

   "Busho!" They are greeted by a tree cleaning a plate behind a counter "Plantis! How are you doing, pal?" The bush carrying Karry, Busho, apparently, answers. "Me? Just peachy!" And both plants start laughing.

   Karry snickers when he notices Plantis is a peach-tree, who knew plants had a sense of humor?

   "How is Rosella doing? Haven't seen her lately" Busho asks. "Not so good, she's got aphid. Her leaves are yellowing and dropping like it's fall. When i'm done with this shift i'm getting her some ladybugs." The tree answers worriedly. Busho slaps his friend's trunk amicably.

   "So, what do you got there?" Peach-tree asks when he notices Karry. Busho smiles and shakes the prince in the air "You'll never believe me! See this mammal? It can talk! And is incredibly polite! It accidentally got one of my fruit and..." Karry tries to contain his dizziness at being shaken and misses the rest of the tale.

   When he gets back to his senses, Plantis is staring at him doubtfully. He looks at Busho, who says "Go on". The human takes a deep breath, and gives his best smile "Good afternoon, I'm prince Karry from the North kingdom. You can call me Karry, It is a pleasure to meet you, sir."

   Plantis looks incredibly surprised and Busho smug. "Ohoho! Yes, yes. A pleasure indeed, mammal. Come, have a seat you two. I will sate your hunger, you're both lucky we just got new products, they are not even in the menu yet!".

   Busho sat down and dropped Karry on the other chair. The prince was a little shaken up, but he felt a lot better not being carried anymore, even though his feet didn't reach the floor.

   "Then bring us a surprise!" Busho said, and Plantis went to the kitchen to prepare their meal.

   Karry wondered what plants would eat. He thought they just got watered and made photosynthesis. Well, there were plants that ate bugs. He prayed he wouldn't get a plate full of ants and flies.

   There were carnivorous plants, maybe he would get a steak. He hoped so, the prince hadn't eaten for a long time. He was starving.

   It was then that Plantis got back from the kitchen, two plates on his branches. "This one is French" he told Busho, setting a plate in front of him "And this one, defrosted arctic iceberg." He set the second plate in front of Karry. A plate full of water. Karry gave a deep sigh, of couse it would be water.

   Busho dipped his roots in the french water "It's amazing! I will have to bring Jasmina here, she needs to try this." Plantis looked pleased, and turned to Karry expectantly.

   The prince dipped his hands in the water politedly and smiled "It is wonderful. Very... Cold." The peach tree petted the prince's head with It's leaves. "Isn't it? Nourish yourself, little one. Maybe this way you'll grow." Karry nodded, and wriggled his fingers in the water. God, was he hungry.
