eleven; you won't ever understand

Stigma

Line-Border-1.png

Jungkook and Taehyung waited impatiently.

Jungkook paced around in his little house/hideout impatiently, often clicking his tongue as he opened his phone to check his messages. There was no word from Hoseok, and it was starting to worry him beyond belief.

He also was starting to worry for Taehyung; he had already managed to gather that the blond had an anxiety problem, every time he’d hide behind his knees and take staggering breaths to calm himself down, and the process repeated. Jungkook did all he could to reassure Taehyung that they would be fine, even having to sit down next to him and comfort him when Jungkook was so bad at physically comforting people.

But now, even he was starting to grow unsure.

He looked at the clock. It was almost nine in the evening, as he fiddled with his can of beer. Taehyung was curled up on the couch, his body tense as his eyes closed; it had been a while since he had started to nod off, and now he was almost fast asleep, his brows furrowed unpleasantly.

Hurry up, hyung… Jungkook looked at Taehyung with worry, as they both waited for Hoseok (and Jimin) to come back.

Taehyung’s ears perked up when he heard the angel’s voice, and Jungkook too, seemed to notice Hoseok outside, who was walking towards the house as if he were being supported by someone… someone Jungkook couldn’t see.

“Hyung-” Taehyung rushed over to Hoseok and the angel that he could see, helping the shorter male to the couch and sitting him down slowly.

“Are you okay-?” Jungkook asked Hoseok worriedly. “You look beat, there’s no way you could’ve walked back on your own like this-”
“Jimin-” Hoseok breathed out heavily, his head falling back against the couch. “Just let Jungkook see you.”

Jimin, with a nod, put his hand out towards Jungkook, and waved slightly, making the human blink as he sensed another presence in the room, and looked his way.

“...What are you?” Jungkook was not scared; more like, he was wary, his voice having a threatening undertone, and he looked at Jimin with burning eyes.

“I’m an angel. It’s not as crazy as it sounds. I was Taehyung’s best friend in high school, then I died. Now I’m back, and I have something I need to do.” Jimin said matter-of-factly, irked. Jungkook slowly nodded, not seeing why he shouldn’t believe the angel, and Hoseok seemed to trust him, so he just accepted the situation as it is.

“Yeah, okay. I believe you.” Jungkook nodded. “Well… let me get you guys something.”
“Save it. I’m leaving.”

Taehyung’s eyes widened, his heart stopping in his chest as he looked at Jimin with shock. “L-Leaving?”

Jimin looked at Taehyung, suddenly feeling guilty for his cold attitude. He knew he must have worried the boy a lot, after having been unheard from and unreachable in the last many hours. Especially after Taehyung’s nightmare, one which seemed to scarily predict almost exactly what would have happened. However, a lot had happened, and he felt greatly responsible for Hoseok’s poor condition following his fight with Yoongi.

Jimin, as much as he knew he had to stay by Taehyung’s side and protect him after everything, the day had been so overwhelming and he needed some time to himself. He sighed, nodding slowly.

“I’ll be back in the morning. Don’t worry - if something happens, I’ll be the first to know, other than these two of course.” Jimin nodded at Hoseok and Jungkook, before turning on his back and his wings emerged from his back again.

“Wow-” Jungkook whispered, and before he had time to even take in the magnificent sight before him, Jimin took off, hastily flapping his way up to the night sky, disappearing into the clouds.

Taehyung stared after him, biting into his lip as he held himself together from breaking; Hoseok nodded at Jungkook to leave the room, and the younger male thankfully obliged without question, saying he had to ‘see to something’.

“Hey.” Hoseok began, looking at the standing figure of Taehyung staring at the door with longing, fear, worry. Taehyung looked back at Hoseok, who was nodding at him to sit down next to him on the sofa. Taehyung slowly made his way over, sitting down with a sigh.

“Listen… when Jimin managed to get rid of Yoongi, he somehow used my ‘inner energy’ to heal himself.” Hoseok explained carefully. “I got really messed up, I was exhausted, I fainted and kept regaining consciousness, until Jimin had to use one of his healing crystals to make me feel better.”
“Why did he do that?”

Hoseok shrugged. “It’s a natural response most angels have while on earth to vibe off other people’s energies to regenerate themselves. If you’ve ever felt faint in public after being completely well and fine, it’s probably because of an angel healing themselves.”

Taehyung nodded, but was still perturbed. “Why is he so upset though? If it’s a natural reaction, I mean.”
“I was too close, I guess.” Hoseok chuckled nervously. “While I was trying to get him to calm down and help him, he started to glow, and well, he just sort of took my energy. I got affected so bad because I was right by him, physically touching Jimin’s body during the process.”

“He feels guilty.” Hoseok further added, seeing Taehyung’s brows relax as he realised what had happened. He sighed again, saying softly, “That’s one thing we’ve always had in common. Feeling so incredibly guilty over things, even when we aren’t at fault or can’t help.”
“Yeah… I could guess.” Hoseok smiled sadly, before he patted Taehyung’s back. “Listen. He’ll be back in the morning, I promise. He just needs time to breathe and get himself together. I promise he’s okay.”

Taehyung nodded, allowing Hoseok to pull him closer to him, resting his head on his chest. Taehyung’s heartbeat picked up at the rhythmic drumming of Hoseok’s heart against his chest, and it was relaxing to experience. Hoseok sighed contently, an arm around Taehyung as he whispered, “Taehyung-ah, let’s get some rest now, okay? I know you’re gonna need it.”

Taehyung didn’t complain, allowing himself to comfortably rest against Hoseok. It felt so comforting, given everything that had happened that day, and Taehyung was just so grateful for everything good that had happened, despite all that he had been through.

With a resigned sigh, he closed his eyes, allowing himself to sink into the comfort of Hoseok’s jumper, his eyes fluttering shut as the exhaustion finally caught up to him, as he passed out into a peaceful slumber. Hoseok too, felt contented, despite all that had happened, and he was glad to be a supportive figure for the younger male, who was fast asleep against him. He ran his fingers through Taehyung’s blond locks, finding it harder to keep himself awake, too, and it wasn’t long before he was passed out across the sofa, leaving them both a comforting sight for the young Jungkook to see when he walked back into the living room.

“Good night, guys.”

“Tsch.” Yoongi grumbled, as he watched the two humans slowly recuperate from their fight earlier. As much as he wanted nothing more than to attack the humans, especially when Jimin wasn’t around, there was the problem of that baptised human.

And besides, he had just come to observe. After seeing all that he had to, Yoongi, with a sigh, allowed his black wings to emerge, as he flew off into the distance, his wings taking him wherever they would lead him, as he stayed deep in thought.

Following the incident, he had flown back to safety, only to be reprimanded by an angry Namjoon about going easy on the angel and his friends, and being the weaker of the lot. Of course, that angered Yoongi to no end, who stormed off saying he needed to be alone and collect his thoughts.

He realised, the more his thoughts piled up, that Jimin was a lot stronger than he seemed or let on. As an angel, he was not strong, but the kid had spunk, and plenty of determination. Those alone allowed Park Jimin to strive for himself, fight for what he wanted to fight for. Yoongi realised that making Jimin was proving to be a long and difficult task.

Jimin had friends, goodness, willpower, love… Yoongi’s heart hurt a little thinking about it, but he soon shook the thought off, as he flew off aimlessly, wandering.

His eyes fell on a silver haired figure, with white wings and flying not too far ahead of him. Of course, this loss just had to come back and rub it in his face. Talk about fate.

“Yo, Jiminiepuff.” Yoongi flew up to the angel despite himself. Jimin looked at Yoongi, his eyes burning red with rage as his arm lashed out at Yoongi; the demon managed to dodge the attack with ease, chuckling mirthlessly as Jimin snarled, “You’ve got some ing nerve to fly in the same air as me.”
“I’m not here to fight.” Yoongi mumbled. “I was only here to think. It’s just a coincidence we met, angel.”

Jimin looked at Yoongi coldly, before sighing as he nodded. “Fine. Any funny tricks and I’ll kill you.”
“Shame, I’m already dead. And what do you take me for, I’m not that classless.”
“You guys are sort of known for playing it dirty.” Jimin rolled his eyes, crossing his arms around his chest. Yoongi slowly chuckled, shaking his head.

“Don’t laugh, you . You killed my grandmother. You dared to kill her, just to get me.”

Yoongi sighed, as he smiled at Jimin rather sadly, surprising the angel. “It was stupid, wasn’t it? To get to you, to assure I could make you fall.”

Was this guy feeling regret? Jimin raised a brow at him, wondering why the demon was showing such behaviour, to the point it was disturbing him mentally.

“You won today, fair and square. You’re not as weak as me and Namjoon had thought you to be.” Yoongi said quietly. “It’s proving to be quite the challenge for us. I love a good challenge, nonetheless.”
“Of course you do.” Jimin mumbled, as Yoongi started to fly himself a little too close for comfort. However, it was not worry over being attacked, but there was a growing unease in his chest when Yoongi was flying right in front of him.

“I do feel sorry for a lot of things.” Yoongi mumbled, looking down at the ground below, subdued. “Sounds weird, doesn’t it? Me, feeling bad.”

Jimin’s breath caught in his chest as Yoongi came even closer to him. “But unfortunately, I do feel bad, especially knowing that there’s something you won’t ever understand, Park Jimin.”

Yoongi’s palm gently caressed the back of Jimin’s head, pulling them together and having their foreheads meet. Jimin blinked, a small gasp leaving his lips as his eyes met Yoongi’s, glowing red in the dark skies.

“You won’t ever understand.”

Jimin swooned, his eyes fluttering shut, and he lost consciousness immediately, plummeting down to the ground at a high speed. Yoongi looked at his shrinking body, not moving as he watched the angel fall. The angel kept falling, falling, and falling, sure to hit the ground, when another winged figure swooped down and caught him in his arms.

Jin looked up at the demon, who was looking down at the two heavenly bodies with melancholy and brows furrowed together, before he turned back and flew in the opposite direction, leaving Jin thinking, and completely bewildered.

His eyes shifted to Jimin, who was now unconscious in his arms and his brows were furrowed together in displeasure; Jin decided, it was time to take him back to Taehyung and Hoseok.

Jimin was in the golden field, holding his grandmother’s hand and a small sapling in his free hand. He looked up at her with an excited grin, and she couldn’t help but smile back.

“Careful, Jimin.” She said softly as they both climbed the rocks, to the smaller clearing in the middle of the rocks. Soon, the two were safely on the other side, with shovels, gloves, the mango tree sapling still safe in tin their hands and a watering can, ready to use.

“If you plant it here, the rocks will protect the seedling as it grows, Jimin-ah. And then, it’ll grow up to be a fine mango tree, once we take care of it together.” His grandmother ruffled his hair, before kneeling down to meet his eye level. “There is also something else very special about this place.”

Jimin let out an intrigued gasp, nodding at her to continue.

“When your grandpa died, Jimin-ah, there was one thing I wanted most, and that was to have his presence in the field he grew up, and raised his own children in.”

Jimin nodded, his eyes turning sad at the mention of his grandfather.

“So, once he was cremated, we buried his ashes here.” She smiled up at the sky, before looking at Jimin. “And that’s where I want you to plant this tree. As a way of giving him life again.”
“Yeah! That’s a good idea, grandma!” Jimin immediately knelt down on the soil, shovel at the ready.

The rest of that afternoon was spent planting and watering the sapling, after which Jimin and his grandmother went back to the house for some more lemonade.

Taehyung woke up first, his eyes slowly opening and he found himself comfortably resting against against someone’s chest, in their arms, wondering why he felt so warm and safe.

The grip around his upper body tightened, and Taehyung gasped, wondering why Hoseok was suddenly hugging him so tightly. He tentatively called out the older man’s name, shocked when he didn’t get a reply.

“Hyung-” Taehyung turned around; Hoseok was still asleep, but his face was screwed up in discomfort, his chest heaving against Taehyung’s back and he was sweating in his sleep, frightened sounds leaving his mouth.

“Hoseok hyung, hey-” Taehyung struggled to get himself free from Hoseok’s grasp, and by the time he had done so, Jungkook had begun to stir in his sleep, opening his eyes to a worrying sight of Taehyung trying to gently wake Hoseok up.

“What’s the matter?” Jungkook jumped to his feet, slowly bringing himself towards the two with worry when he saw Hoseok’s pained expression. “Is hyung okay?”
“It looks like he’s having a nightmare, Jungkook… I- I can’t get him to wake up.”

As if he were overhearing the conversation, Hoseok suddenly woke up with a jolt, a loud gasp leaving him as he panted for breath, his eyes widened as he looked around uneasily.

“Hyung…?” Jungkook asked quietly, as he reached out to pat Hoseok’s shoulder; when the older male suddenly jumped to his feet and bolted outside. Jungkook rushed after, calling out to Hoseok, while Taehyung just sat there, staring after them in surprise.

Suddenly, there was a new setting, one that did not relate to his grandmother or her home at all. Jimin found himself in room filled with mirrors all around, duplicating his reflection and showing him dozens, hundreds of himself. Overcome with the sudden change, he gasped, falling backwards and landing on the floor with a thump.

On one of the mirrors, a figure began to materialise, with black hair and a familiar face.

“Yoongi-” Jimin whispered, as the figure began to walk away, a cold look on his face. Jimin’s heart began to ache at the gesture, why, he could not explain, but he could not deny the growing pain in his heart too.

“Jimin!” Another mirror began to show another Yoongi, this time more happy and cheerful, beckoning at the angel to come closer; his eyes lit up, and his smile was simply out of this world. It was so beautiful.

All across, different manifestations of Min Yoongi, mostly happy, sometimes sassy, but all good nonetheless, started to appear across all the planes of the mirrors, and Jimin was so overwhelmed by the sight that he, while trying to stand up, felt faint, and fell to his knees.

“What is this…” He looked around, trying to get his head around what was happening.

Suddenly, things started to get darker. Yoongi’s cold demeanour returned in the mirrors, as he began to look at Jimin with contempt, he was snarling at the angel, his mouth moving harshly, as if he were angry.

The sight turning dark and dangerous around him sent shivers down his spine, as his chest constricted and he found it difficult to breathe. Though Jimin could not understand, he could feel the hatred in those invisible words, the evil harboured in Yoongi’s intentions, why he was so cold, cruel, indifferent… Jimin did not understand one bit of it, he didn’t, but there was no denying that this experience was shaking him up.

A searing pain shot through his head, as the excessive memories were dumping themselves onto Jimin. With painful shouts and cries, Jimin was curled up in a ball, his forehead touching the cold ground and palms held behind his head as he screamed, begging for it to stop.

Everything was painful. Everything was hurting.

What Jimin didn’t understand, was why his heart was hurting the most.

He looked up, finally, when the pain ceased, and saw approaching lights, and the sound of a horn blasting into the darkness, before he saw black once more.

Jimin woke up with a start; his forehead covered in sweat and his chest heaving as he looked up at the worried Taehyung.

“Jimin…?” Taehyung asked quietly, his hands gently reaching out to hold Jimin’s in his hand. The angel immediately closed his eyes, breathing slowly, trying to relax as he whispered, “I’m fine, Tae.”
“Jimin, you’re crying…”

Jimin shook his head, wiping his eyes frantically, as he looked at Taehyung, his lips stuttering as he began to speak.

“I-I think I might have known Yoongi when I was alive.”
