For Forever
A pair of feet climbed up a gone-rusty ladder, stepping over a plaster waist-tall wall, and small puffs of dust blown as they thumped against the rooftop’s floor. She walked to the other end where she could be the closest to the sun that started to waking up from its good night’s dream. The first sunrise of the year. It wasn’t long until the sky changed into shades of orange, with a hint of pink.
Then she walked to where she set her camera up a makeshift prop made out of fireworks’ tube from the night before. She pressed the shutter button, and it started to count down in beeps.
In the first shutter click, it was her alone in a frame.
The second, a girl whom she forced to pose in the frame together with her started to make appearence.
Third, they moved closer.
Fourth, their shoulders brushed against one another.
Fifth, she took her hands in hers, and lips found their ways to each other.
And no more clicks were heard.
“I don’t know why I can put up to this annual photoshoot of yours.”
“That’s because you love me.”
They exchanged smiles.
The brownie with the camera then said,
“Be strong. There’ll be more and more to come.”
And the blondie beside replied with a smile,
“I’m ready for forever.”
They clinked their cups of warm cocoa carefully. Once again, they smiled
“For our forever.”
And it echoed.
“For our forever.”
