Sejeong used to wish so earnestly about growing up. She would dream about being an adult, where she can live freely without chains, like the eagle soaring in the skies, strong and mighty as a grown-up.
She would mesmerise herself with the thought of her being freely in the world, going to new places and meeting new people, seeing and experiencing things that she cannot in the home she is trapped in.
But Sejeong did not realise what home had meant back then.
Sejeong did manage to go to new places and meet new people, but it was different. Sejeong was puzzled, and hurt. New places turned out to be scary, where she’d be lonely and left to make difficult choices by herself. New people turned out to be scary, when she had to deal with difficult people that she couldn’t understand or unloving, cold-hearted ones that seemed so different from people she would have wished to meet.
Sejeong did manage to see and experience things that she’d never done so before, but it was different. Sejeong saw how the world was dark out there, and experienced how grown-ups are largely unpredictable whereby happiness is twisted and wishes and wants have evolved along with the human body.
Sejeong wished that she could enjoy her childhood even more. Sejeong wished she was still back at home, where she had a safe haven and a roof to shelter
