Chapter 5
Mean BoysCHAPTER 5
I said goodbye to Jinhwan and Donghyuk at the mall when I realized I still had homework. After I finished, my labtop alerted an incoming skype call. Call from Hanbin.
I accepted and Hanbin appeared on my screen.
“Hey Hanbi-”
“I know your secret,” Hanbin said and leaned into the camera.
Oh, God, busted.
Just start apologizing and crying.
No, play it cool.
“Secret? What are you talking about?” I replied acting like I didn't know.
“Junhoe told me that you like Song Yunhyeong. I mean, I don't care, do whatever you want. But let me just tell you something about Yunhyeong. All
he cares about is school and his mom and his friends,” Hanbin replied, leaned back in his chair and started texting someone.
I furrowed my eyebrows, “Is that bad?”
“But if you like him….I mean, I could talk to him for you if you want.”
My eyes widened. “Really? You would do that? I mean, nothing embarrassing, though, right?”
“Oh, no, trust me. I know exactly how to play it. But wait. Aren't you so mad at Junhoe for telling me?”
“No.”
“Because if you are, you can tell me,” Hanbin smirked.
“Uh yeah, I guess he likes the attention,” I replied. Hanbin nodded and started texting someone again.
“See Junhoe, I told you he isn't mad at you!” Hanbin said. What?
Suddenly, Junhoe’s face appeared on our video call.
“I can't believe you think I like attention!” Junhoe yelled. Oh . My eyes widened and a looked at Hanbin who smiled.
“See you guys tomorrow!” Hanbin said and Junhoe ended the call.
I had survived my first three-way calling attack. And with Hanbin’s blessing, I started talking to Yunhyeong more and more.
On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was in math.
“It’s October 3rd,” I said as Yunhyeong smiled at me and turned back around to the front.
Two weeks later, we spoke again.
“It’s raining again,” He commented.
“Yeah.”
But I wanted things to move faster.
So I followed my instincts. I tapped Yunhyeong on the shoulder and he turned around.
“Hey, I'm totally lost. Can you help me?” I asked.
But I wasn't lost.
“Yeah,” He replied.
I knew exactly what Mr Lee was talking about.
“It's a factorial, so you multiply each one by N.”
Wrong.
“Isn’t that the summation?”
“Yeah, they're the same thing.”
Wrong. He was so wrong.
“Thanks. I... I get it now.”
“Lights please. Okay guys, see you tomorrow!” Mr Lee said and everyone started to file out of class.
As Yunhyeong was packing up his stuff, he turned around back to me.
