We have lost another legend of the Kpop industry.

Kim Mingyu, the member of once labeled the most successful  boy group, Seventeen passed away at the age of 83.

Mingyu peacefully passed away in the middle of an empty field behind his residence in the outskirts of Seoul. It seemed he was walking around the field before he died of natural causes, showing no signs of homicide or suicide. As local authorities claimed, “He had a peaceful expression, and fully prepared for his death. There was no sign bodily excretion.”

After his death, Mingyu was first found by his neighbor, Mrs. Lee, “I was baking cookies, and while waiting for the oven to finish cooking, I went outside to get some fresh air. From my house, I could see something on the field. It was unusual, so I went over, and I saw my neighbor already lifeless.”

Kim Mingyu began losing sight 30 years ago, and suffered of blindness until his death. Despite his lack of sight, Mingyu stayed fairly healthy over the course of his life. He lived alone in a small cottage which he used to live in with his deceased fiancee, fellow Seventeen member Jeon Wonwoo since 2040.

With Kim Mingyu’s departure, this left our nation with just two Seventeen members left, Boo Seungkwan (82) and Choi Hansol/Vernon (82). Kim Mingyu was waked yesterday, and except for Seungkwan who was hospitalized, Vernon attended the ceremony.

a/n: even when mingyu had lost his sight completely, he never wanted to touch Wonwoo's face. No, not like that, it's just Mingyu didn't travel all the way, didn't trace each nook and cranny in an attempt to imagine how Wonwoo's face would look like. It was pretty simple and egoistic actually, he wanted Wonwoo to remain beautiful in his memory, untouchable by age, unwhiskable by time.
