let's pair up

After their luggage arrived and everyone had gotten something to eat, eleven o'clock had come. Once Tony noticed the time, he ordered the ten new recruits to go to their rooms like the father he wasn't. The night had gone better than anyone could have imagined. Well, they thought the compounds would have burned down by now but fortunately, that didn't happen. Gramercy picked a fight with Jae which did not end well for Sam when Jae bit his arm to free herself. Tony made a point to keep an eye on the blonde for she was a fighter. Out of the new recruits, Giselle was the most calm and compliant thus far. She caused a bit of a scare when Clint asked to demonstrate her powers on him but didn't do much damage to the bird. There was another incident with Lucius and Wanda when she was trying to read his mind. He got annoyed and made the whole room go dark. After five minutes, he had turned the lights back on and disappeared to his room before anyone noticed. Lastly, Steve became the center of attention for Jae, Raaya, and Furaha's flirtations which made the super soldier highly uncomfortable, again. Once everyone was locked in their rooms, the Avengers met in Tony's lab for a brief meeting. 

"Can we call Waller to take these freaks back? She honestly thinks these guys can do good?" Sam complained to Tony. Tony let out a sigh of frustration as he understood that this was going to be a challenge for the team. 

"We have to deal with this. She works for the government so obviously we can't say no to them." Clint stated with his arms crossed across his chest. Natasha and Steve nodded in agreement to his statement. 

"I say we begin their training tomorrow so we can get a better sense of what we're dealing with. They could be of use to us if we can understand their powers. We should each be in charge of someone. Nat, you mind handling Selina?" Steve asked as he looked at Natasha for an answer. She nodded her head despite knowing that she'd have the most trouble training her. 

"Clint, take Robin." he continued. Clint nodded while letting out a sigh. He didn't like how Robin had talked to Natasha earlier. Funny how two birds would be sparring against each other. Should make for many jokes from Tony.

"Wanda, you take Lucius. Both of you share similar types of powers so it would be best for you to train him. He'll probably trust you more than the rest of us." the captain explained. "Understood." Wanda replied. 

"Bucky, you'll handle Gramercy. She'll be good practice." Bucky nodded. She did have a long background with fighting and Bucky could use someone new to spar with besides Steve. 

"Sam, you get Raaya." Steve pointed at Wilson. His face sank a bit as he was uneasy about fighting a cat-lady. "Steve, what if she scratches me or something?" Sam questioned, hoping Steve would give him someone else. 
"You want Jae instead?" Steve cocked one eyebrow at him.
"On second thought, I can just fly away to prevent being scratched." Sam responded quickly.

"Vision, I think it'll be best if you spar with Hella. She's Asgardian but I think you're the only one that can take her on besides Thor."
"Of course, Captain Rogers." 

"Rhodey, you'll take on Furaha." Rhodey nodded. She should be easy, right?

"I'll take Eve and Tony, you take on Giselle. She'll be good training for you." Steve smirked. 
"The hell is that supposed to mean?!" Tony raised his voice while crossing his arms. 
"I'm just saying. From her file, she, along with Hella, is pretty powerful." Steve stated, holding back a smile. 

"So who's taking Jae?" Natasha asked. Steve looked at Pietro. When the twin met his gaze, he began shaking his head. 

"I'm not training with a psychopath! Steve, I know I play pranks on you often but c'mon! That's a death sentence!" Pietro shouted. Steve let out a sigh.
"Pietro, I'm not doing this to get back at you. I can't assign her to Dr. Banner, it would be too risky for everyone. Plus, she's already taken a liking to you so maybe she'll be a bit easy on you because of it." Steve apologized. It was true, though. Dr. Banner could not be paired with any of the recruits as their safety would be at risk.
"Fine. If I die, I swear I'll haunt you in the afterlife." Piet huffed. Wanda patted her brother on the back as to relax him a bit. 

"Let's call it a night. We're all going to need a good night's rest for tomorrow." Steve commented as he made his way out of the lab. Everyone followed suit. 

"At least I get to fight Lush Lips tomorrow." Tony commented before parting from everyone, referring to his excitement with Giselle.
