when his phone rings for the fifth time, he spits out the water he's been gargling and speeds out of the bathroom to answer it. "five more minutes." he says before hovering his finger over there end call button. but then he hears the ranting, sighs and presses his phone against his ear.    he immediately regrets it.    "your sister is going on stage first, remember?! i can't believe you've been so clumsy and forgot to bring the camera and even forgot to brush your teeth! HURRY BACK! your sister made a lot of efforts to get to your graduation last year and this is how you repay her, you -"   a faint voice from the background of his mom's nagging tells her to stop. jaebum assumes it's his dad. as he's grabbing the house keys from the coffee table, the camera bag swinging wildly from his exaggerated actions, he tells his mom he's sorry for the nth time.   "i'm going, i'm going," he grumbles before ending the call.    jaebum sprints for the door. he closes it behind him and locks it. he jiggles the doorknob to make sure.    "good morning."   the smile on his face is instant, yet he's sure it's laced with surprise. he turns around and is face to face with seulgi who's still in her pajamas. "hey, slept well?" he says, noticing her wild and unruly hair. she scrunches her nose and that's it - her cuteness will be the death of him someday.    she merely nods. "oh, you have plans today."   "it's nayeon's graduation."   "oh," she blinks and stands up straight, arms crossed. "tell her congratulations for me. are your parents -"   "yeah, they're back." he nods.    she smiles in understanding. "i guess i'd have to steal your time some other day then. i was going to ask you out for some coffee, but i guess today is family day."    "actually," he starts walking away from his apartment, from her. "we're throwing a party for nayeon later at lunch, to celebrate. you should come, she'd want you too anyway."   "here?" she points to his apartment door and jaebum nods. her smile is back on her features. "sure! see you later."    nayeon's school isn't far, but still, he doesn't risk running even though he's fueled with such adrenaline rush at the thought of how seulgi wanted to grab some coffee with jaebum.   how, at one point between the events of last last night and this morning, she had thought of him.            she feels like her face might fall off any second. her cheeks hurt and her eyes are beginning to burn due to the flashes of light. she holds onto jaebum's arm for support when their mother takes a picture of them together along with jisoo.    "you okay?" he asks, the photogenic smile still on his face. jisoo excuses himself to go to his parents and tells nayeon he'll stop by their place for the party. "i know, your cheeks hurt don't they? they'll stop aching soon enough."   nayeon sighs and takes off her graduation cap. she hands it to her father just as someone says her name. she turns around and her vision is overwhelmed by a bouquet of assorted flowers, all in the hues of blue. her favorite color.    "congratulations."    she smiles, even though her cheeks hurt. she takes the bouquet from his grasp, even though she clearly remembered telling him that she didn't want any gifts from him on her graduation day.
