pen against paper, she doesn't write. she doesn't bend over her back and let her nose touch the pages of her notebook to take down notes regarding the oncoming end of the year school festival, and even though it was her job - student body secretary being irresponsible right here - she still couldn't care less. school was ending in a week and this festival has been planned for months by the organization, and knowing their perfectionist of a president, everything was going to be perfect till the last detail.    jiwon only asks nayeon if she copied everything he's been saying so far, and her little white lie slips out from before she can stop it. "of course."   he smiles, nods and she feels a little bit guilty about this, so she lowers her head and pretends to write notes when really, she's just putting some shade in his eyes and parts of his face and neck to add more detail, more edge.    she twirls her pencil around and secretly admires her fifteen minute creation. she's a little bit stunned admittedly, at how she managed to just capture a glimpse of his perfection in to graphite and lines.    "you've only seen the guy once, nayeon." this is jisoo. it's after school now and they're eating by the yogurt stand from across the main gates. jisoo's treat this time. "and somehow you suddenly have photographic memory. unbelievable."   nayeon finishes her mango and vanilla yogurt, so she asks for more. she hands over the cup to the lady behind the stand and she tries to give jisoo a nonchalant shrug. "i haven't seen him just once." she confesses. she looks at him with what felt like a sheepish smile on her part. "i kind of deliberately changed my route and walk to school now."   he narrows his eyes at her. "you mean you actually walk past that dvd store just to catch a brief look at him? every day since last friday?" he sounded surprised, and she thinks he's being silly but really, if someone else also heard her right now, they'd have identical reactions with jisoo.    nayeon remembers three days ago, eagerly leaving the apartment and skipping down the wrong yet right way. wrong because the shortcut was at the back of the building, right because it still led her to school but would take her ten minutes or so longer. and the ten minutes were worth it because the second she saw him through the tinted, dusty windows; nayeon felt like her day was already complete before it even started.    she's not usually like this. it really is ridiculous. jisoo's not exaggerating at all. he has a right to even slap her out of it. "yes, i know it's weird but i had a moviecal moment!"   "that's not a word." he blandly points out.   "yeah, it isn't. i made it up. moviecal moment, movie-like and magical at the same time." she continues to eat more yogurt. "jisoo, like i said, i know it's weird that i'm crushing on him like this but he's different."    "he sure looked different." he said, pointing out his hair.   five minutes later, they're finally done drowning their taste buds in sweet, sugary goodness so they go to the convenience store for some water.  nayeon proceeds to tell him how the guy's hair is her favorite part, along with the rest of him.   at this, he frowns and tries to shove her backwards. "okay, who are you and what have you done to im nayeon?"   she rolls her eyes, but before she can even say anything, jisoo is already blabbering away.   "you know, ever since you entered high school, you've turned down like, two dozen different guys. one of them was a certified geek and smarty pants plus he was in the debate team and the other one was student body president and leader of the chess club, which are both totally your type because you found someone's intellectuals more appealing, as you said, but then you go dump them and break everyone's hearts and im nayeon has never had a crush before and we figured you were only saying you were into someone's brains to cover up the fact that everyone thought you were a lesbian -"   she smacks his shoulder with her just purchased bottled water.    "ow, okay, okay. because i and some other unkindly fellows made up this thing about how you were actually lesbian but then you shot that down and kissed park jinyoung, your brother's best friend, right smack in the middle of the hallways one busy, busy afternoon and you guys dated and he graduated and went to yonsei university too and then you broke up and you practically spent the rest of senior year being aual, you know? if you weren't already screwing your books? but now you have this crush on this anime-looking guy that works in a lame dvd store and he's so far from your type, you don't even look twice -"   when nayeon opened her bottled water, she just ceased to listen to the rest of jisoo's narration on her entire love life during high school. or rather, the lack thereof. he's been with her since the beginning, knew her the most and actually has every right to judge her but jisoo is just jisoo. what he says are usually harmless, if not mildly insulting at times, but mostly harmless.   "are you done?"   "you weren't even listening." he deadpans.    she shrugs. she places her half empty bottled water in her bag. "sorry. i got tired halfway through."   "he's... not really your type? like he looks about our age and it seems like he works full time there. does that not strike you as -"   she lifts a hand up. "don't go there. i'm just crushing on him."   "that itself is rare already, remember that." he says.    when they get to the crossing, the lights are red and they both stand side by side waiting for the colors and sign to change. cars speed past and nayeon overhears the two boys beside her talking. jisoo nudges her and it seems like she's not the only one overhearing things. he points to their sweaters.    yonsei university    when the signs change from cars to a man crossing the road, nayeon and jisoo both fall into step. white lines pass beneath their feet as they walk. "you still haven't changed your mind?" he asks when the college kids go the other way. "yonsei is -"   "where jaebum is." she frowns. "you know how hard i worked to make a name for myself. you saw it! ten years, for ten years, i've been known as 'jaebum's little sister' by everyone. elementary, high school - they all see me as someone's sibling." from the corner of her eyes, she sees him frown too. he's heard this a million times, but somehow he still doesn't get it. whe nayeon says 'no', it really is 'no'.
