What Music They Make
Mijoo & Yein"Care to explain again as to why we're not allowed to indulge in a single sip of alcohol when everyone else is getting faced drunk?" Mijoo questions with a tinge of envy in her tone as she observes the townspeople carousing around the two of them without a single care in the world. Meanwhile, she and Yein sit at a table laid out with a variety of half-eaten foods and drinks. Yein's hawk-like eyes do not fail to catch her partner's hand creeping towards an unattended bottle of whiskey. She sends the other woman a sharp glare that causes her hand to instantly retract. Mijoo's wandering hand reluctantly returns to her plastic cup of water. It's empty.
"We're not here to fool around. We're here on a mission." Yein reminds Mijoo, reverting her attention to the oblivious partygoers. No sign of suspicious activity thus far, but she still doesn't lower her guard. She never does. "There have been reports of strange sightings throughout the town - specifically those of unusually large, bipedal wolves - and also reports of extensive property destruction, as well as large disappearances of local livestock. I believe this town may be afflicted with a case of the classical werewolf."
Mijoo leans back in her creaky steel chair, crossing one leg over the other. She squeezes her empty cup absentmindedly and the plastic crunching sound mildly wears on Yein's nerves. "Ah yes, werewolves, right. The ultra-strong, carnivorous wolf people...fantastic. If you haven't yet noticed, I'm actually still recovering from our last mission with those terrible bloodsuckers. I can't really get over the fact that I had to play bait to lure them all out and that they decided to chase me altogether... I almost didn't make it."
"I told you not to provoke the vampires."
"Of course, telling me not to do something only makes me want to do it even more. Especially if you're the one giving out orders." Mijoo flashes Yein a mischievous grin, prompting the latter to sigh. At times like these, she can't even remember why she'd agreed to take Lee Mijoo under her wing, out of all the other hunters she could've chosen. She does remember having a much easier time hunting monsters on her own. Nonetheless she can't exactly say that she regrets accepting Mijoo as her partner (as much as she wants to).
"I would not have minded if you stayed behind at Headquarters with Jiae and the others. You're not even useful when it comes to combat, let alone anything else involving monster extermination."
Mijoo frowns upon the younger woman's remarks, finally tossing her crumpled plastic cup into a nearby trash bag. She makes it, surprisingly enough. "That's not fair. You know I'd accompany you wherever you go. Even to the deepest, darkest, hottest depths of hell and back. I think it'd be difficult for anyone to channel their inner Van Helsing if they're a pacifist like I am." Yein begins to shake her head. "Seriously, think about it for a minute. Peace between humans and monsters. Wouldn'
