Epilogue
Can you see the snow?--Two months later--
“Mirror charms are extremely draining causing most guardians fall into a hibernation stage known as eclipsing, to preserve their light energy. They would take a temporary form that has no knowledge or memory of their other self, as a form of self-protection.”
The scribbling sounds of Chanyeol’s pen on the yellowed papers of an old notebook was the only noise in the room. He may be someone who loved being surrounded by people, but Chanyeol was very serious when he was working. And it also was tedious work. For you see, both Kira and him had been delaying the process of going through their late parents’ stuff. But after everything that happened, Chanyeol knew he was ready. He was ready to begin a different life.
That was two months ago.
61 days in fact. 61 days since he nearly lost everything that he had held dear. 61 days since he was hit with a sudden realization how much he valued those around him, and how thankful he was that they were in his lives. It was this realization, that made the boy started to clear their parents’ belongings. They were all layered with a thick coat of dust. Neither siblings had the heart to go near them. But now they were okay, now they had a new family.
The boy checked his leather watch. The watch that used to be his father, showed that it was almost 7 in the evening. Kira should be home soon. She was out with Xiumin again. Off to another adventure at who-knows-where. He was not worried. Xiumin would get her back on time, he always did. It was sweet really, how inseparable they had become. It was like both of them were terrified of the future, and hence nothing was going to stop them from enjoying the present. It was weird to see his careful and cautious sister, living so much in the moment. Given her personality, and Xiumin’s for the matter, Chanyeol knew the both of them would eventually admit that they had to think about the future, and how to make this unconventional relationship last. Hence he was not worried, they both had good heads on their shoulder. It was up to the two of them to sort it all. For now, the couple was happy, and that was all Chanyeol needed to know.
As Xiumin practically lived here now, his clan came and went as they liked into his house. Suho, in particular, loved their lake house. And he seemed a little too attached to their television set, for Chanyeol would constantly walked into the living room to see the vampire, glued to the screen every night. Sehun and Luhan visited, but they would never stick around for long. Sehun would sometimes try to come up with an excuse, like they were visiting Yixing and Jongdae. But Chanyeol knew it was a lie. Suho would assured Chanyeol to not take things too personally, for those two still found it hard to be around humans, even if the lake house was at the edge of the town. Not that Chanyeol had much complains, he didn’t know what to feel about Luhan. He was thankful, but he was still apprehensive about the red eyed vampire. It might have been attributed to the fact that he had walked into Xiumin asking Luhan about the whereabouts of Tao. Luhan had assured Xiumin, quite cryptically, to not worry for the tall vampire would not be causing any trouble. Xiumin’s concern, according to Kira, was that the vampire would seek revenge on them for killing Kris. After Luhan’s promise, Xiumin was no longer concerned, nor did he ever bring up that name again. Of course, Chanyeol cou
