Katy stared into the box in awe. She couldn’t believe that there is such thing existing in this world. The interior of the box was covered with neatly cut stones that have various colors that she has not seen before. Are her eyes deceiving her? How can an ugly box own such magnificent interior? Doubting her vision, Katy runs her fingers once more to the stones that glow on their own even the light of the sun is not needed. Not even a slight view of the wood is seen due to the stones covering all the spaces that needed to be occupied. On the floor of the box there was one large stone that surpasses all the others. Katy tilted the box and the stone changes its color from dark to the palest blue until it became amber. It was so magical that she cannot turn her eyes away from the box. She wonders where the light came from as she keeps on turning the box until she straightens it up again placing it on her lap.

‘It’s so magical papa.’ She shifts her gaze to her father that was just behind her then return again to admire her box. ‘I love it so much.’ Yixing smiles at his daughter and kisses the temples of her head. ‘Remember Princess, beauty is not always from the outside.’ He said softly, hugging her. He then looked up at his wife who still sitting at the sofa, blowing smokes into the air like a dragon. He gazes at her hand that was shaking slightly. He felt disappointed at how Mia turned out to be. Mia sighed at the sight and shakes her head disapprovingly before heading her way out of the sitting room, the smoke trails on her way to the veranda of the house. She wanted to tell him that he cannot just repay their daughter’s love with gift all the time; Katy needed more than that like her. However, she knew Yixing will still receive love even without those gifts.

Yixing stood up from the floor and tore his sight away from the trail of smoke that followed his wife along with the cold feeling. He looked down at the amazed face of her daughter and offers his hand to her. ‘Come Katy; let’s head out for a walk. Bring the box with you.’ He says which Katy happily stood up from her post and holds her father’s hand. Yixing had longed to return home to be accepted with opens arms from his love ones only to feel the cold shoulder from his wife. He arrives but now he wants to leave again wanting to preserve the happiness in his home when he is not around.

‘Wait Papa, I’ll invite Mama.’ Katy releases her hold from her father and rushes to her mother intending to invite Mia to join them but she reasoned out to her daughter that she is fine being left in the house not wanting to feel awkward around her husband. So Katy and Yixing left the house with Mia giving space to breathe once more. Mia watch helplessly as her husband disappeared from her sight along with the over bearing weight of his presence.

It was December nearly Christmas making the temperature dropping yet it was not cold enough to make the place snow yet it was freezing. Yixing made sure that his daughter was wearing her thick jacket to keep her warm from the weather’s condition. He held her hand tightly as they walk towards the park where he always takes her whenever he comes home. They pass by the house of Mrs. Ho with her dog barking loudly at them making Katy stop on her track. ‘You know Papa, Mrs. Ho’s dog always barks at people and not stop at all.’ She says. ‘Mama says I should not come close to him or he might bite me but I think he won’t.’ her face drops sadly. ‘Why don’t we ask Mrs. Ho if we can bring her dog for a walk’ Katy’s face glowed with her father’s words nodding her head and they walk towards the door of the dog’s owner. Yixing reaches for the doorbell ringing it as he and his daughter waits for someone to open the door for them. It did not take long that the door open and an old lady with hair already turned gray stand in front of them. ‘Yes? How can I help you?’ the old lady asks. ‘Nihao, Mrs. Ho, I’m Zhang Yixing who own the house a few blocks from yours and  I would like to ask for your permission if my daughter and I can take your dog for a walk?’ Yixing says with a soft smile that made the old lady smiles back at him. ‘I would be delighted if you take him with you.’ Her gaze turns to her dog which was still barking loudly. ‘The poor thing, he was given to me by my children but due to my old age I am not able to take him for walks.’ She says sadly then turning back to face Yixing. ‘His name
