Sometimes, in the fleeting moments of each sunrise and sunset, she sits by the window and counts the seconds on her fingers.

The pale stars were sliding into their places. The whispering of the leaves was almost hushed, muted, yet a persistent cry to his ears as the soft breeze of spring rustled their branches. Beyond, it was still, shadowy, sweet. A wonderful moment for night meeting day, a moment where no visible horizon could be seen and the darkened world seeming infinitely greater. A place where anything could happen, a moment when anything could be believed in. And maybe, just maybe, he squeezed his eyes shut and felt the breeze halt, he could hold on to the final rays of light before night rose.
